** Buffy had her mother dating Ted, a gentleman whose only flaw was being a psychotically domineering killer robot. Even before she knew this, Buffy responds to a suggestion of her mother getting married again by threatening to kill herself.

* ''Series/{{Supernatural}}'': When Dean settles down with Lisa for a year, he gets along great with her 11-year-old son Ben. Ben met Dean for the first time when he was 8 years old, and Dean wondered if Ben was actually his son since they [[SharedFamilyQuirks had similar behavioral patterns]] (which was neither confirmed nor denied).
* ''Series/VeronicaMars'': Twice with Veronica's father Keith Mars. The first is an attempted relationship with her guidance councelor, but he decides to call it off because Veronica is still coping with the [[MissingMom loss of her mother after she abandoned them both]]. The second is with her best friend Wallace's mother, which lasts quite a bit longer. This one just weirds Veronica out for a while but she later warms to the idea when she sees how they're happy together.
* ''Series/TheSuiteLifeOfZackAndCody'' has this as both a RunningGag and an occasional cause of TearJerker moments. London Tipton's father is constantly marrying new women (with his third wife being London's biological mother), and all of them end up divorcing him fairly quickly. The one time we see a stepmother in person she does make an effort to make a bond with London, who at first wants none of it because she believes that her new stepmother will be gone faster than she can blink. London actually has a ''charm bracelet'' that lets her count how many step-mothers she's had.

* ''Series/TheOfficeUS'': In the episode "The Lover", Pam returns from her honeymoon to learn that her boss Michael has been sleeping with her divorced mother since the wedding. She freaks out and behaves so much like an angry child dissatisfied with a new stepfather that she makes Michael look uncharacteristically reasonable by comparison. She even says at one point, "[[YoureNotMyFather You'll never be my father]]!"

** Blair is excited to meet her mother's new boyfriend Cyrus, believing him to be a dashing, charming, worldly man. He turns out to be tiny, nearly bald and, well, played by Wallace Shawn.

** But, she does learn to at least respect him by the end of the episode. By the time he becomes her stepfather they have formed a pretty close relationship.

* In ''Series/{{Hawkeye|2021}}'', Kate is pretty distrustful of Jack, not only for him being his mother's new boyfriend, but also for his involvement with black market dealings and possible involvement with the Tracksuit Mafia, despite him presenting himself as a person who tries his best to be friendly with Kate. [[spoiler:In the end, it turns out he is as friendly as he appears to be, with the danger coming actually from Kate's mother's shady dealings with the Kingpin, complete with him taking the fall for Armand Duquesne's murder.]]

* ''Series/MadMen'': Gives us something of a combination of an InvertedTrope and Type 1: Don Draper invites his secretary Megan Calvet on a vacation to California with him and his kids specifically because she handled them so well on a visit to the office. It's only on the trip that he sleeps with her and ''then'' proposes after she's established a firm rapport with Sally and Bobby: when he announces his decision to marry her, they are actually kind of happy it happened.

* ''Series/TheBabySittersClub2020'': In this reimagining, Kristy is even more antagonistic towards her mother’s fiancé Watson than in the books. She’s reluctant to bond with him or his kids. She wants her mom to be happy; she just wants her and her brothers to be enough for her. Over the course of the series, she slowly warms up to him.

* ''Series/ArrestedDevelopment'': This TV show played with this trope whenever Michael got a new love interest. He always worried about what his son thought of his dating, and usually ended up sabotaging the relationship because of that. Of course, while George Michael would usually be fine with it, the two times he didn't consult him were the two times he would in fact have minded. One, when Michael started dating the teacher he had a crush on, after misinterpreting George Michael's opinion of her. And two, with Jesse, because she's psycho.

* ''Series/TheBradyBunch'': This is the case of Parent With New Paramour taken to the ideal conclusion, with a relative minimum of tension between the parents and stepchildren.

* Played with in ''Series/{{Coroner}}''. Jenny's son Ross doesn't have an issue with Liam as a person - in fact, they got along well with Liam teaching Ross how to build a bridge - but it is more of the fact that his mother is hooking up with someone just months after Ross's father suddenly died, making Ross feel Jenny is attempting to erase his father out of their lives.

* ''Series/TheBabySittersClub'': In this reimagining, Kristy is even more antagonistic towards her mother’s fiancé Watson than in the books. She’s reluctant to bond with him or his kids. She wants her mom to be happy; she just wants her and her brothers to be enough for her. Over the course of the series, she slowly warms up to him.

* ''Series/{{Bones}}'': Booth's son Parker doesn't like his mother's current boyfriend, who appears to be a decent guy. Of course, Booth doesn't like said boyfriend either. But also inverted, as Parker seems to like Bones, his father's work partner and potential (''[[{{UST}} very]]'' potential) love interest. But then, Parker idolizes his dad (and mimics his dad's sarcastic nickname for mom's boyfriend) and Bones has a pool she lets him come over and swim in (Parker at one point suggests his dad should marry just for this reason, being largely unaware of their UST). In later seasons, Brennan has had Booth's baby and they live together, Parker treats her just like a regular mom and seems happy when he spends time with them.
** One episode played with it by making it seem that Parker was unhappy that not only were Booth and Bones living together, but having a daughter. Parker was lying to both of them about where he's spending his afternoons, breaking the new radio controlled car Booth got for him, and destroying pictures of Bones. In the end, it turned out that their relentless worrying ruined his surprise. He'd spent his afternoons making a mobile out of all their family photos and motorized it using the parts from the car so that his new little sister would know her family (and especially her big brother).
* ''Series/TheBradyBunch'': This is the case of Parent With New Paramour taken to the ideal conclusion, with a relative minimum of tension between the parents and step children.

* ''Series/{{Dynasty}}'': Much of the first season focused on this, as the plot is kickstarted when the former SexySecretary of the male lead becomes his second wife as well as the female lead, whom his son is indifferent towards and his daughter '''really'' dislikes. And then the ex-wife shows up in the second season...

* ''Series/TheSarahJaneAdventures'': The title character's adopted son Luke, despite initial nervousness (and spying on his mother before finding out that she was disappearing to go on dates), gets along well with her new boyfriend/fiance and becomes the strongest supporter of her new relationship. He even brushes off his friends' valid concerns about the man's empty house with a warning not to spoil his mum's big day. [[spoiler:Of course, the relationship doesn't work out; the man had died weeks ago (thus the empty house), and the Trickster had revived him to serve as a trap for Sarah Jane. When he finds out, he chooses to die as he should have.]]

* In ''Series/{{Arrow}}'', Oliver's son William warms up to Felicity pretty quickly, especially after she starts helping him with his math homework, given that math has never been Oliver's strong suit. Eventually, after Oliver and Felicity get married, William stops being afraid of becoming an orphan in case Oliver is killed while out as the Green Arrow, since now he has a stepmom.

* ''Series/StarTrekDeepSpaceNine'': Ben Sisko's son Jake actively encourages his widower father to date, wanting him to find someone special, and is the one to set Ben up with his eventual wife Kasidy Yates. While Jake doesn't think of Kasidy as his mother, he's fond of her.
** Nog's mother walked out on him and his father when he was a child, so he's all too happy when his father finds love with, and eventually marries, Leeta. He even refers to Leeta as "Moogie" (the Ferengi equivalent of "Mom") when he's congratulating them on the marriage.

* ''Series/CallTheMidwife'': Timmy actively ships his dad with [[spoiler: Sister Bernadette, going so far as to propose on his dad's behalf]].

* Series/{{Manifest}}: Olive is shown in flashbacks to be reluctant to warm up to Danny at first, but in the present, when told to call her father, she calls him instead of her actual father, and later directly tells her mother "I love Dad, but Danny's my father too."
