* ArtisticLicenseBiology: [[spoiler:Luca, despite being intersex, is a full {{Hermaphrodite}} with both working reproductive organs. While this somewhat lines up with his originator's intentions of making him a perfect blend of gender, real intersex people's genitalia come in a variety-- those whose parts show up as one or the other, those with ambiguous looking genitalia, and those who appear outwardly one sex but have the opposite sex's characteristics inside. There were never cases of intersex individuals having both parts. Regardless, since Luca is a genetically engineered clone, it's justified.]]

* AdultFear: Aries' mother is the only person who openly worries about her well-being and shows no contempt or being openly neglectful. [[spoiler:When you realize Aries is the clone of Seira, it makes a lot of sense, since she used to be Seira's retainer]].

* AlternateHistory: We're led to believe that [[spoiler:the series' world history diverged from ours sometime in the 1960's, with the Cuban Missile Crisis resulting in WorldWarIII and wiping out a big chunk of the world's population, leading to massive changes in the structure of the world]]. Though later revelations seem to suggest that [[spoiler:there's something up with that history, given that Lina's time frame would set Earth's destruction a mere ''six years'' before the plot kicks off. And indeed there is, given that the entire populace agrees to set back the calendar 100 years and tell an alternate account of their history so that future generations can distance themselves from the horrific deeds of ages past and the tragedy of Earth's destruction.]]
* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: A comedic example in the final volume's omake. Quitterie released a moderately successful diary of her experiences in space, only to be beat out by Zack's novel. ''That'' is beat out by Charce's lifeform paper, but all of their books' popularity combined can't hold a candle to [[SexSells Yun-Hua's gravure magazine]].

** After the ''Astra'' [[spoiler:becomes incapable of space flight on Icriss]], Zack tells a distraught Quitterie that there's a possibility that one of them can go into cryostasis and wait for rescue if they can't handle adjusting to life on the planet they're stranded on. Keep in mind, he says this just before [[spoiler:he stumbles onto a second ark ship with a single working cryopod]].

* ApocalypseHow: Type 6. [[spoiler: A meteorite hit Earth, causing it to wipe out all life on the planet. The debris from that impact shaded sunlight to the point where the planet became completely encased in ice, sometime before the start of the story.]]

* AndroclesLion: The Gruppies were already friendly animals to begin with, but one Gruppie that wasn't poisoned by the tall mushroom tree helps Kanata get back to the ''Astra''. Likely the same one Kanata fed a poison-resistant mushroom to.

* ShoutOut: Some chibified reactions from the group B5 are drawn similarly to the likes of several characters from Motoo Abiko and Hiroshi Fujimoto, the manga artist duo formerly known as Creator/FujikoFujio, including ''Manga Michi'' and ''Manga/{{Doraemon}}''.

''Astra Lost in Space'' is an online {{Shonen|Demographic}} manga created by Kenta Shinohara of ''Manga/SketDance'' fame for the online ''Magazine/ShonenJump Plus'' app. It began serialization in May of 2016, and ended on December 30, 2017 with 49 chapters (5 volumes).
