[[ShamingTheMob In a screw you]] moment he gave a smile as he was about to be murdered; as a means of honoring his service to Night Raid and to spit on the expectations of a pathetic whimpering end]].

** Cosmina of Wild Hunt tends to indulge in sexual activities and flirt with men. When she tries to rape Run in the middle of a battlefied, she gets by Mine in the chest for her trouble. She does survive this but would end up experimented on by Dorothea and become a mindless monster.
** Among Syura's acts of StupidEvil include rape, and he actually tries to rape Kurome, a skilled under General Esdeath's command. This not only would have earned her ire, but also threaten Honest's alliance with her. When Wave comes to Kurome's rescue, rather than let Budo's interference settle the issue, he goads Wave into a ''public duel'' so he won't be able to hide the consequences. It's only Budo's obsession with "not spilling blood in the imperial castle" that spared his life.

** [[spoiler:Bulat was dying of fatal blood poisoning from liver's suicide attack but he still had enough life in him to bequeath the pupil his teigu, albeit after knocking some sense into him first due to his hesitation. Once Tatsumi managed to equip Incrusio and beat the ever living daylights out of the last mini-boss, the latter could finally pass on without regrets]].
** [[spoiler:Susanoo the living teigu gave it his all when he proposed to act as the barricade to impede Esdese' advance on the rest of Night Raid, his last moments truly were a blaze of glory. One for the record books in fact; but the topper to it all was his liking of having met such steadfast comrades before he died]].
** [[spoiler:Subverted horrifically with run; after finally ganking the douchebag who murdered and raped his school children. He felt he could pass on hoping wave and kurome could fix the rot within the empire in his place, only for kurome to stab him with her necrosword in order to keep him around, his final expression speaks volumes]].
** [[spoiler:Lubbo's end was the practicality of tragic, fought to escape and save his friend and fellow inmate of the empire only to be cut down grievously in the end. Surprisingly, however, he went out at peace with himself knowing and thinking he did good by the woman he loved]].

** [[spoiler:Again Inverted with Mine, while in the anime she died in a blast against Great General Budo with the lighting from his attack rebounding on her as she eviscerated him. Smiling gently he bid Tatsumi an I love you kiss before she died in his arms. In the manga the [[BeamOWar Beam Struggle]] was more pronounced lasting a lot longer than it's previous incarnation, as a result even though Mine won out the battle she ended up in a coma; before that however she gave a loving grin as she had won to save her beloved as she collapsed]].

* TheDogBitesBack: After Leone fatally injures Minister Honest and leaves him to the rebels, They along with countless citizens [[Tyrannicide brutally tortured Minister Honest to death as revenge for this tyranny and cruelty.]]

* HellYesMoment: chapter 38 has a spectacular one, when Mine fights against Seryu again. [[spoiler:Her weapon goes into overdrive and slices both Coro and Seryu in half when they attempt to double-team her]]. [[SubvertedTrope subverted]] when Seryu is still alive and attempts to kill MIne with a suicide bombing. It seems like Mine is finally going to die, unable to get even with Seryu thee way she wanted, Then [[TearDryer cue Tatsumi rescuing Mine]].

*** The straight case involves an EliteMook of the Imperial Guard with an organic Teigu, Seryu Ubiquitous. When Tatsumi encounters her in episode 5 after getting lost in town, her strong sense of justice, warm demeanor, and faith in the punishment of evil initially makes her come across as a genuinely heroic upstart who just happens to be on the other side from Night Raid and might simply not be aware of what's happening with any of her corrupt leaders. However, come this episode she becomes a {{deconstruction}} of that idea entirely; when she encounters two known members of Night Raid she immediately starts becoming psychotic with her zeal to avenge the death of her captain, Ogre the Demon—who Night Raid had killed earlier for being a corrupt bastard, which in turn suggests that Seryu's loyalty to imperial justice might be more blind myopia than genuine innocent faith. This only worsens during the ensuing battle this only gets worse, especially with the reveal that [[spoiler:she has guns implanted into her body]] and her perfect willingness to [[spoiler:have her pet Teigu go berserk and overheat himself to take them out]]. By the time she and Koro manage to [[spoiler:kill Sheele and force Mine to flee]], her mask of sanity is entirely gone, as she goes on about the call of justice all the while LaughingMad like a stereotypical villainous psycho. Even her fellow officers are afraid of her at this point.

* HellYesMoment: chapter 38 has a spectacular one, when Mine fights against Seryu again. [[spoiler:Her weapon goes into overdrive and slices both Coro and Seryu in half when they attempt to double-team her]].

** Tatsumi is punched by Bulat in chapter 9 when he vows revenge for his friend's death, [[spoiler:Sheele]] at the hands of Seryu. He is told that simply charging in for vengeance is only going to increase the body count. Bulat also reminds him that he was told they could die at any time. Regardless, Mine swears to kill Seryu someday. [[spoiler:She eventually does]].

** Aria is quite jealous of Sayo's smooth skin and hair, [[spoiler:which is why she personally tortured Tatsumi's friend to death]].

** [[spoiler:Sheele gets ripped into half by Seryu's Teigu, Coro. Mine herself returns the favor to Seryu by using her Teigu as a LaserBlade]].

** Seryu suffers this as Sheele cuts her arms off in chapter 9.

* KilledOffForReal: It's quite common in the series, especially with regards to those in Night Raid, the Jaegars and the Empire. Early on in the series, [[spoiler:Daidara and Liver are killed by Bulat, Bulat dies of Liver's poison, Shelle is eaten alive by Koro, Chelsea is offed by Kurome and Seryu blows herself up]]. There's also [[spoiler:the annihilation of Wild Hunt and Lubbock's death]] at the end of the Wild Hunt arc. The last few chapters are spectacularly fatal [[spoiler:with Esdeath being killed off by Akame, Honest suffering a CruelAndUnusualDeath at the hands of the resistance forces, the emperor being beheaded and Leone dying from her wounds]].

* SecondaryCharacterTitle: Despite Tatsumi clearly being the protagonist of the story, with several of his decisions and choices driving the plot, the series is named after the {{Deuteragonist}} Akame instead.

* ExcitedShowTitle: The title ends with an exclamation mark.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Some parents might mistake the series as kid friendly due to its cast of colorful characters, but the series itself is extremely bloody.
** The manga has chapter 46 where in Wild Hunt [[spoiler:brutally rape and murder Bols' family on top of his grave]]. While the previous chapter already established them as the most irredeemably evil villains in the series this one stands out as they [[spoiler:kill characters who have an established relationship with one of the main characters, one of the most innocent characters in the series is killed]] and Wave begins to see how corrupt TheEmpire truly is.

* SuperOCD: Susanoo. He notices that Tatsumi's fly was open in one scene. And later when fighting a Danger Beast Kurome summoned, he was nitpicks about one of its bone joints being off slightly on one side and that it really bothered him while fighting it.

The manga ended in December 2016 after 78 main chapters and four side chapters (published in a volume called ''Akame ga Kill! 1.5''). ** Shura's X-shaped scar is a direct copy of Scar's from ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist''. Likewise, his Imperial Arms, Shamballa, is a reference to the [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist original 2003 anime adaptation's]] sequel [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemistTheConquerorOfShamballa film]].

* WaxOnWaxOff: When Tatsumi first joins Night Raid, his first duties with Akame as his trainer is to cook and go fishing. Mine also mocks him, while Akame is harsh and cold towards him. He later finds out from Nejanda that said cooking and fishing was actually part of his training to help him hone his tracking skills to hunt down his prey.

** Episode 6 shows the first onscreen death of a Night Raid member, [[spoiler:specifically Sheele]].

* KillEmAll: As of the end of series, everyone is dead except for [[spoiler:Akame, Najenda, Wave, Tatsumi, Mine, Suzuka and Kurome]].

Fal has both her legs broken, is raped and finally dies having lost all her fingers and teeth. Air is raped by a dog repeatedly and forced to become one herself until she escapes and hires Night Raid to avenge her and her friends, once this is done she commits suicide to be with her friends]]. Gruesome stuff... [[spoiler:Thankfully, all three of them are [[SparedByAdaptation spared this fate in the anime]] as the [[TheCameo final episode]] shows]].
