* GoodPeopleHaveGoodSex: A comment in the first chapter reveals that Kiryu, Yusei and Placido sometimes make love to contrast how they have a happy, wholesome relationship while Jack is alone and has no one.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: The entire story shows what happens when the legal system gets involved in the anime and rips apart Shingo and Reiji's accusations into shreds.
** Shingo brags that he doesn't need a lawyer to prove that Yuya attacked him. Because of this, there's no one to defend him when his accusations fall flat.
** Shingo accuses that Yuya attacked him without actually describing what he looked like is not a good basis of sueing someone. Once Yuzu clarifies that it ''wasn't'' Yuya, then he's lost his only advantage. When Shingo states that Yuya could've bought a new deck and Xyz monster, the lawyer points out that a custom deck like Phantom Knights would've had to be ordered by Leo Corp. itself and they ''don't'' have any of the cards "Yuya" used in the duel.
** Reiji ends up in hot water for letting three children nearly die in his school because he's the CEO and thus responsible for everything that happens. Not only did he ''not'' tell their parents about this, but he also chose not to compensate for it.
** Neither Reiji nor Himika researched who actively ''owned'' You Show Duel School and tried talking about it to Shuzo. When Yoko hears word about it, as she is co-owner, she's going to file a Cease and Desist letter to prevent Leo Corp., from ''ever'' hurting her husband's school or take Yuya's Pendulum Cards for their own.

* ForWantOfANail: Discussed. Kiryu questions what would've happened if Jack didn't betray Yusei and hauled Kiryu in jail but dismisses it soon afterwards, happy with what he has right now.

* PlatonicLifeParnters: Grady and Carly's relationship in a nutshell as they can cuddle in bed and have comfort with each other about their worries.

* DoubleStandard: The author points out that it's okay if Shun gets mad for losing Yuto and Ruri, but Gongenzaka never gets a chance to griever over losing Yuya and Yuzu.
