''[[http://beyonddespairsbounds.tumblr.com/ Beyond Despair’s Bounds]]'' is a submission-based original character group on Tumblr set in the ''{{Franchise/Danganronpa}}'' universe, adapting the story of the game to a roleplay format and putting twists on the original rules, along with introducing completely new settings and Non Player Characters. Those select elite that possess talents worthy of recognition are scouted out and recruited into Hope’s Peak Academy, where their talents are cultivated and preened so that they may act as figureheads and raise hope for the new generation.

In this [[http://beyonddespairsboundsone.tumblr.com/ first installment]] of the story of hope, twenty students receive an invitation to take a field trip to a seaside town by the name of Kaiyou, as part of a new program introduced with the intention of promoting student welfare. However, once the students arrive, they quickly find that not is all as it seems - proven with their arrival coming in the form of waking up in a dusty, dirty room, with no memory of how or why they were there.

The objective? To unravel the mysteries behind the place while attempting to build courage and rekindle that precious flame of hope that burns within the hearts of the students. However, there is one tiny obstacle…

At the urging of the monochrome-garbed pirate Monokuma, supervised by the mysterious fox-masked Kumi, students are forced to kill each other in order to escape. Motives are passed out on a regular basis to encourage the students to commit the perfect crime, and avoid being labelled as guilty in the resulting class trial.

With tensions running high, only time will show who will live and who will die.

A sequel to the group began May 27th, with [[http://bdb-aoi.tumblr.com/ Class Aoi]] and [[http://bdb-midori.tumblr.com/ Class Midori]]. Thirty-two new students are arriving at Hope's Peak Academy, looking for a fun, hopefully danger-free school year. Unfortunately, shortly after they arrive at the school, they find themselves somewhere else -- once again waking up in an unfamiliar, unclean room. The group has been split into two classes of sixteen, and their goal is to find a way out of the castle which they appear to have been trapped in.

Not even the staff of the castle is certain how they all arrived, but they will support the students in their attempts to get out. But, not everyone here is so kind...

Kumi shows themself yet again, and their pursuer, Maru, also appears. Acting under apparent orders, they both force their respective class into killing each other, for reasons neither will fully disclose. The motives once again threaten the students, and once again the class trials are designed to weed out the guilty party.

Can the students prevail against this situation, and find a way out before it's too late?

!!Ai Aizawa[=/=]Na Lee
!!!SHSL Paparazza (SHSL Blackmailer)
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ai_profile_icon.png]]

If you’re talking tabloids, the name Ai Aizawa will surely come up. A paparazza working for the weekly magazine Yansin Beki, she’s notorious for her prolificness and her accuracy. She seems to know just when celebrities are making trouble, and pounces on them with a high success rate; she’s rarely without some sort of news story. This proficiency at her job has made Yansin Beki incredibly successful, and made many others fear seeing the flash of her camera at their window. Her dark hair and dress makes her nigh invisible in the night, but she certainly makes her presence known.

One victim of the third murder.
----
* AlliterativeName: ''Ai'' ''Ai''zawa.
%% * AloofDarkHairedGirl
%% * AnimalMotifs: A black cat, though this is downplayed compared to others in the class.
* ButNotTooForeign: Part of her Chapter 2 secret is that she's Chinese. However, the secret also reveals that she's been living in Japan from a very young age, hence her proficiency with the language.
%% * DiesWideOpen: Unlike the other Chapter 3 victim.
* DoNotCallMePaul: The fact that her birth name is only revealed on her Monofile would imply this is the case. Confirmed in the Youkai mastermind trial, where she corrects the Queen of Spades on it (but doesn't bat an eye at being called Lois Lane).
* AnIcePerson: After her death, she learns ice magic from Kumi.
* {{Paparazzi}}: She ''is'' the {{Paparazzi}}. Subverted when it's revealed that it's not her official Hope's Peak talent.
* ParentalAbandonment: According to her secret, she was abandoned in Japan by her family.
* RapunzelHair: She's got four feet of the stuff.
%% * RavenHairIvorySkin

!!Angelos
!!!SHSL Street Artist
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/angelos_profile_icon.png]]

Somehow always found on skates, the elusive street artist Angelos was eventually discovered after 6 years. Spanning from small cute butterflies to large-scale waves, Angelos has made her mark in Tokyo becoming well-known and even managing to make her art become a public attraction. Every morning it’s a wait-and-see to find out where the Midnight Painter had painted her latest piece.

Not the Chapter 4 murderer, but is executed anyway due to a mistrial.
----
* ConspicuousGloves: Won't take them off during the first trial, but the second body drop has her forgetting to put them on entirely, revealing the scars on them.
%% * HairTriggerTemper
* NotHelpingYourCase: In the beginning of the first trial, Angelos was high up on the list of suspects. She promptly began the trial by yelling and getting mad, drawing a lot of suspicion towards her.
* OnlyOneName: Only goes by Angelos.

!!Briana Castillo
!!!SHSL Good Luck
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/briana_profile_icon.png]]

This previously ordinary girl has cropped up as the winner of the coveted Good Luck lottery for Hope’s Peak; an immigrant from Spain with no special talents other than her optimistic attitude and a way with cats. It actually seems like an incredibly unlucky coincidence, since her older brother was a talent student at Hope’s Peak before his death.
----
%% * AnimalMotifs: Of a black cat, to be exact.
* BornLucky: Since she won the Good Luck lottery, though that's also questionable now that she's stuck in a mutual killing situation.
* BreakTheCutie: Once she's given her screen for the third motive, which shows her older brother, who she thought to be dead.
* ButNotTooForeign: She's moved from Spain, but knows Japanese. However, it is obvious to look at her that she isn't from Japan.

Surf’s up! Cady Lancaster is the three-time youngest champion of the World Wakesurfing Competition and she’s got the sporty personality to match. Cady’s always up for a good time, though don’t try to drag her to a party. She once skipped her own birthday party. But set her up with a body of water and some water sports, and she’ll be happy.

She was the second culprit, having killed Maiori.

%% * AxCrazy: Her reasoning for killing Maiori was flawed at best, as shown by the displeased reaction of all the other students.
* ButNotTooForeign: Another one of the many students with a clearly 'not Japanese' name, making it clear that she is not of Japanese descent. However, she has displayed that she ''does'' know Japanese well enough to get by.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Blue and blue!
* SignatureHairDecs: Her hair clip is important, because that's what sold her out in the end.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She does, in fact, have blue hair.

!!Dakota Merryweather
!!!SHSL Standup Comedian
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dakota_profile_icon.png]]

Dakota lives in a beachy neighborhood, she’s also the SHSL standup comic in town, mostly because nobody else can stand up to the gut-busting humor she can dish out, the main reason behind that is that nobody else can say her material with a straight face.

She is assaulted in Chapter 6, but ultimately survives.
----
%% * BareYourMidriff
%% * BreakTheCutie: Ai's death really takes a toll on her.
%% * ButNotTooForeign
%% * InnocentFanserviceGirl
* TapOnTheHead: The mastermind beans her with a brick in Chapter 6, to the point where the wound bleeds, but she's perfectly capable of participating in the trial that follows.

!!Eliot Ghanem
!!!SHSL Movie Critic
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eliot_profile_icon.png]]

Eliot is a Syrian boy who moved to Japan when he was about 8. He runs a practically famous blog as a well-known (and feared) movie critic. He posts the occasional book or play criticism as well. He’s 17 years old, an only child, and lives with both parents. He’s got a very good head on his shoulders, but he never quite got the hang of getting along with people, and he can be a little abrasive due to his brutal honesty. Besides that, his fame has gone to his head a bit and he thinks pretty highly of himself.
----
* BromanticFoil: Eliot is down to Earth, bordering pessimistic, and snarky, while his bro Ryuunosuke is so optimistic that it hurts to watch.
* ButNotTooForeign: He's from Syria, but moved to Japan many years ago and knows Japanese (as well as English) quite well.
%% * CoolDownHug: Has to give a lot of these to his roommate.
%% * DeadpanSnarker
* FreakOut: After the third motive is revealed, and again while talking to Ryuu. It ends in Eliot begging for Ryuu to kill him.
%% * FriendlessBackground
%% * HeterosexualLifePartners: With Ryuu. Definitely ''not'' with Kuroi.
%% * StoicSpectacles
%% * TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Dishes one of these out to the Queen of Spades after Ryuu let it slip that the two of them had an argument -- Ryuu didn't actually realize that was what it was, but Eliot did, and he didn't appreciate it.
%% * TearsOfFear: The third motive seems to have been his breaking point.

%%More than just a pretty face, this native of Italy moved to Japan at a young age, and has been training in the vocal arts for as long as she, or anyone, can remember. Tending towards opera as she grew older, Fumi began performing in local venues, and her perfomances slowly began attracting attention. This escalated until Fumi and her chords of steel were invited to perform in the New National Theatre in Tokyo, one of the youngest opera singers ever to perform. Sunny, kind, and matronly, she was viewed as a wonderful symbol for the youth arts, and an example of just how far someone could go with passion… and vibrato.

!! Kuroi Kato
!!! SHSL Student Council President
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Kuroi17.png]]

A very well known name at Hope's Peak Academy, Kuroi Kato is the student council president of Hopes Peak’s student council. He’s a very diligent and hard-working young man that does his best to make sure that the school is running properly and that the students are happy.

He’s been noted since elementary school to have always been a top student in sports and academics, which got him a scholarship to the elite private school, Mikami Academy, where he had pulled off the largest and most successful school festival that garnered a lot of attention and praise from the school board and student body. This also managed to catch the attention of Hopes Peak where he has been awarded with the title of “Super High School Level Student Council President”.
----
* AlliterativeName: '''K'''uroi '''K'''ato
%% * AnimalMotifs: Yet another black cat.
%% * BerserkButton: Hurting any of the other students.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Kuroi is normally polite and mild-tempered, even addressing ''Monokuma'' with the polite suffix of, "-san"; and yet it was ''Kuroi'' of all people to attack Monokuma to defend Sachiko.
* BlindWithoutEm: His vision is apparently so bad that without his glasses everyone looks like coloured blobs to him.
* BreakTheCutie: Subverted. Despite getting his eye damaged and having his childhood friend tortured all in the same chapter, he remains calm and level-headed. This is actually double subverted; he's a StepfordSmiler.
* ClassRepresentative: He was chosen by the headmaster of Hope's Peak to go to Kaiyou with the others.
* EyeScream: When confronting Monokuma, who had just stabbed Sachiko, he gets a nice slash to the eye.
* JapaneseSchoolUniform: He wears a gakuran.
* TheLeader: He is the Student Council President, after all!
* MarriedToTheJob: He's ''very'' dedicated to his responsibilities as the SHSL Student Council President, but this proves to be a rather fatal flaw for him since this attitude is what gets in the way of him making close relationships.
* NiceGuy: Nobody (so far) seems to have a problem with him as he remains polite to everyone he talks to.
* OnlySaneMan: Has yet to really yell at any of the students and remains calm throughout all of the trials so far.
* PunnyName: "Kuroi" is written as "黒井". The first character of his name is "黒", which means "black". His last name said out loud sounds like "cat". Given his appearance, the pun should be clearer.
* SchoolUniformsAreTheNewBlack:
** He shows up to one of the class trials in his school uniform while everyone else was (presumably) in their pjs. Apparently he slept in his uniform.
** Subverted as his new sprites has him wearing casual clothes after he gets attacked by Monokuma.
%% * StoicSpectacles
* TraumaCongaLine: Dude lost his fucking eye' and found out the HPA Student Council members, which are comprised of all his friends were being tortured. This happened in literally the same day.

!!Maiori Rikarudo
!!!SHSL Ghostbuster
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maiori_profile_icon.png]]

Maiori is the star of a TV show about ghosts and other paranormal phenomena. The show is a complete joke, but she doesn’t know that. However, her enthusiasm and charm captured the hearts of Japan, as well as Hope’s Peak’s faculty.

She's the second victim.

!!Masami Kojima
!!!SHSL Object Heads
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/masami_profile_icon.png]]

An artisan of quite the unique craft, Masami Kojima is a sculptor of wearable object heads, and their online shop, Faceless Portrait, is mentioned from time to time in Harajuku. Their skill is envied among many the avant-garde fashion designer and their creativity and attention to detail is simply to die for, but in person, Masami is a much different person than their legacy makes them out to be. Quiet, shy, and awkward, it’s a bit hard to believe that they’re a leading beacon in the cutthroat world of fashion. Show an interest in purchasing one of their works, however, and they’ll show off the business-oriented side of themself that let them defend their niche so effectively!

The Chapter 3 murderer, responsible for the deaths of Ai and Moeko.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Masami has a fish motif, first hinted at by the fact they wear a fishbowl on their head.
%% * ApologisesALot
%% * BewareTheNiceOnes: As Chapter 3 clearly shows.
* DeathByIrony: They get their face practically slashed off and then get decapitated. By entities impersonating their moms. Who, coincidentally, were the people they intended to save by killing people.
%% * DontLookAtMe: In particular, their unobscured face.
* ExtremeDoormat: Anything Ryoko Yomihiro tells them to do, they'll bend over backwards to do to the best of their ability.
* MulticoloredHair: Though it has a bit of a bluish tint through the fishbowl, their hair is black with the ends dyed blue.
* NiceHat: Nice fishbowl.

!!Mitsuo Yomihiro
!!!SHSL TV Producer
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mitsuo_profile_icon.png]]

The name Mitsuo Yomihiro isn’t quite as well-known as that of his sister Ryoko, host of Pātītaimu!(Party Time!). But if you look close enough, you can see him credited as the producer of her show. He was always behind her career goals, working his hardest to support her however he could. When she struck it big with Party Time!, who else would she want producing her show other than the one who helped her get that far to begin with? He’s proven himself studious and reliable, the firm, down-to-earth voice that keeps his sister’s show running, day in and day out.

The Chapter 4 victim.
----
%% * AnimalMotifs: The floof kitten himself.

Very little is known about the Queen of Spades. Of what is known, it appears that the Queen of Spades has only been active for about a year. The only real evidence of her existence in an online archive, most of which seems to be written by only two people. Despite this, she has become a popular myth among high school students. It seems that there is a story being written about her.

!!!SHSL Pokémon Master
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rosario_profile_icon.png]]

Hailing from scenic Lima, Peru, Rosario is the five time defending world champion of the Pokémon video game conference. Coming out of nowhere one day she took the competition with Pokémon that surprised the world. Remember that kid that won with Pachirisu? This girl's done it, been there, and won the worlds sweeping the competition with a Magikarp. If her mastery of the games isn’t impressive enough. She’s completely mastered every spin-off, ranking in the top five of every Pokémon shuffle competition, Rosario holds the world record for speed run completing the classic Nintendo 64 spin off Pokémon Snap, and owns almost every Pokémon card ever made. Speaking of the cards, it’s safe to mention she’s a contender in the world championship for the card game. It’s just not where her focus is at. Everything about Pokémon she’s mastered. If you haven’t heard of Ryoko Yomihiro, you may want to consider crawling out from under that rock you’ve been living under. Being born to two parents that, for the most part, live in the public eye and on camera, Ryoko’s rise to fame was hardly a surprise to anyone. What was a surprise was her incredible charm and wit on screen, paired with the ability to make even the most seasoned talk show veterans quake in their boots under the mercy of her scrutiny. It’s pretty entertaining–and entertainment is her business! Just last year her talk show, Pātītaimu!(Party Time!), was ranked among the top ten most viewed television shows in Japan–and even stole the number one spot with its New Year’s special! What a cool cat.

!!Takumi Ueno
!!!SHSL Jeweler
[[quoteright:100:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takumi_profile_icon.png]]

Takumi grew to fame after taking over the shop and making jewelry on order and fast. Everyone would be impressed by this young man’s assiduity and focus. He did come from a poor background but his fascination with gems and love of precision has helped him gaining interest in the jewelry area. One day, hearing that a small boy would learn the art of jewels, the once recognized jeweler took Takumi under her wing and taught him that art. The 7 years old boy learned how to make jewelry and while at the start it was quite nice, by age 10, he already made beautiful necklaces who was ordered for graduation students in a bal, and the jewels lasted forever. One day on age 15, few weeks before his birthday, there was a small while left before a huge gala with actors and singers, one designer in particular asked for a specific jewel to use and the colors at a very last minute. No one could respond to his crazy request. However among skilled and renowned jewelers, stood one teenager who claimed he could do it. He earned a lot of mockery, but Takumi didn’t care and managed to respond to the request few hours after the request and the quality of the product was so excellent, no one dared to laugh at him. After the gala, the celebrity wanted to see who made it and talked to the teenager in enthusiasm. Using their status, they pushed Takumi to the public, who then recognized his amazing natural talent, hence Hope’s Peak Academy sending him an invitation. Takumi did not hesitate and agreed to go to school so he could study easier.

%%!!Monokuma[=/=]Monosuke Kurokuma

%%A pirate bear who showed up out of nowhere. He charged into the island before their classes could begin, explaining that the only way they could leave now was if they killed another student and got away with them. %%----
%% * BearsAreBadNews

%%!!Monomi[=/=]Usami Kurokuma

%%The so-called teacher of the students. In the beginning, she explained that this was going to be a fun vacation for all the students to get to know each other, in which they would begin attending classes. However, Monokuma appears, much to her shock and chagrin. Seems to genuinely care for the students, and dislikes seeing them suffering.
%%----
%% * BadlyBatteredBabysitter

!! Kumi Nogitsu

A person in a fox mask who stopped Monokuma from killing Fumiyo during chapter one. While they seem relatively opposed to the idea of mutual murder going on, they haven't stopped any of the things Monokuma has done. Are they on the side of the students, or do they simply not care enough to help?

To the shock of many, they are the tenth victim of the sequel, killed by the culprit of Chapter 7 (heavily implied to be Shirou).
----
%% * AbusiveParents: Based on what's been revealed so far, their parents... weren't the nicest.
%% * AffablyEvil: Actually fairly polite.
%% * AlienBlood: Their blood is a vibrant purple.

* BlackSheep: They can't perform the magic that the rest of their clan is capable of. This is a big part of why they were disowned.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: While they have no problems with telling students to kill one another, they also have no problem trying to help them in other ways if asked.
* CoolMask: They always wear a very nice fox mask.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Their cause of death is spinal cord transection, and part of their spine is visible in their body art. This in addition to the fact that they were burned from the nearby temple fire. ''Ouch.''
* TheFaceless: They almost never take their mask off.
* FangsAreEvil: Subverted in that they aren't really evil; they just aren't on the side of the students. However, it can't be debated that their canines are sharp.
* TheGadfly: Conversations they've had with Kayo (where they seem to be deliberately difficult) and Hanzo (dropping a glass bottle of antidote onto the floor after he demanded it) cements this.
* MysteriousPast: They even make reference to it in the second game. Fortunately, the second game also sheds some light on it.
* AnOddPlaceToSleep: Though they have a bedroom in the castle, they've slept on the rafters, in the basement, outside...
%% * PunchClockVillain
* SelfMadeOrphan: They lost control of their powers when they were young, accidentally burning down the castle they called home. Since their family were bound to the castle...
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Their favorite food is [[SweetTooth strawberry mochi]], but in the game itself, they've been seen more frequently with [[SatiatingSandwich sandwiches]].
* UnreliableNarrator: They claim they always tell the truth, but they haven't revealed everything.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Their hair is light blue.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: Would you believe that they're only 19? It's probably the mask; when their face is revealed in the sequel, they ''do'' look rather young.

A living, breathing, art history textbook, Akae Kase is here to tell you about all the drama that went down 700 years ago and how it influenced that one painting by that one artist, and why you should totally care about it! The redhead, half Polish and half Japanese, is a loud, overly-talkative, but kind person, who loves making new friends. If you’re a nice individual, chances are Akae will like you and will go out of her way to get to know a little bit more about you. Don’t mind someone who talks at a million kilometers per second for hours and hours? Then say hi to Akae, and perhaps you’ll learn a thing or two about art and its history as well!

%%!!Charger Nitrous
%%!!!SHSL Street Musician
%%[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/05_yyq6dvd.png]]

%%Charger Nitrous emerged from a background of near total mystery. Overnight, the girl became a radio sensation with a song she had written herself – titled “Concrete Pillow” – and performed only with a second-hand acoustic guitar. The origins of “Concrete Pillow” were widely publicized: for the past year before her breakaway hit, Charger was homeless, left to sleep behind dumpsters in the urban alleyways around Japan. Despite life’s shortcomings, Charge continued to dedicate herself to music, busking until she earned enough to periodically record and pitch the fruit of her labors to radio companies. This self-made star eventually hit the radio waves with a ferocious presence, and was quickly picked up by Tatsuyama Records. At first, critics reproached her for her flashy, bizarre, Western-Rock-n-Roller appearance, but quickly bit their tongues as her polite and almost cordial attitude was revealed in interviews. She had taken the country and the media by storm – what is there that Charger Nitrous can’t do?

%%The third victim, killed by Yuudai in Chapter 3.

!!Conor Breagadoir[=/=]Anguo Lee
!!! SHSL Hurler (Not a Hope's Peak student)
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/07_ve9xtgj.png]]

Conor Breagadoir seemed to burst out of nowhere onto the hurling scene! His schooling was pretty normal for most of his life. He went to a good, highly-rated Irish school, which taught him maths, languages, and, perhaps most importantly, hurling. There was no formal hurling class, but he learned it through recess periods, and he fell head over heels in love with the sport. In middle school, he joined the school’s hurling team, and was eventually noticed by the manager of the professional Kilkenny hurling team. He was applauded for his advanced skill — so much so that he was asked to join the Kilkenny team. Naturally, Conor accepted, since it meant money for his family, fame for his name, and hurling for his time, and he has been playing professionally ever since. Hope’s Peak Academy noticed him when Kilkenny won the 2015 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, with Conor playing as the team’s full forward.

The fourth culprit, but he isn't executed for his murder of Kayo due to someone else's false confession. However, his luck doesn't last for long, and he's the seventh victim, killed by Akae in Chapter 5.
----
* BerserkButton: It seems to be people getting his name wrong.
* CanonForeigner: He started out in Class Midori, but was switched into Aoi shortly after prologue began, hence why he is on this character page.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: His green eyes have a four-pointed star surrounding the pupil.
* PhenotypeStereotype: Red hair, green eyes, is it any surprise he's Irish? As it turns out, this was purposely invoked in story.
* PunnyName: The second trial reveals that he was hiding his entire identity beneath the guise of Conor Breagadoir. He was trying to fool all the students. Conor is a ''con man.''
%%* RedheadInGreen: His jacket has a distinctly green hue.

%%Eris von Rrong, otherwise known as The Demon Heiress… Eris, is the adoptive daughter of the famous von Rrong family. The von Rrong family has been involved in the legal system in Japan and Germany alike for centuries. Each one of them, with one recent exception, has been a prosecutor. None of them have ever lost a case. But Eris von Rrong even exceeds /that/ expectation. She is the youngest person to have ever passed both the Japanese AND the German bar exams. Just two months ago she was prosecutor in the cold case of the century. A new suspect accused of being the Serial Murderer dubbed ‘The Freezing Killer’ was declared guilty through Eris’s noble effort and executed after over thirty years without a lead on the case. Naturally, there are naysayers that believe the rumors that the von Rrongs have achieved their perfect record through ILLEGAL, dubious means. This suspicion, of course, has extended to their young prodigy. Not helping this is the fact that one month ago, Eris decided to finally accept Hope’s Peak’s invitation to attend their school. Nothing can be proven. Except, it seems, her innocence.

It wasn’t exactly headline news when the main person behind the concept of [=BlueMoon=], one of the country’s most downloaded mobile organization apps was outed as being a high-school student who apparently began developing it mostly out of boredom, but it definitely was news that raised a few eyebrows. Hailing from Naka-ku, Okayama, Kayo Nagase is something of a mystery, he has engaged in several online interviews about the app and its planned updates. But with a tendency to change topic when a question gets too personal, not all that much is really known about Nagase’s personal life, only his unwavering devotion to the project and somewhat eccentric disposition. While very few of Nagase’s previously released apps seem to have ever gained much publicity, [=BlueMoon=]'s overall success, along with Nagase’s passion for the project seem to be what attracted Hope’s Peak’s interest.

As an employee of a cleaning outsourcing business managed by his grandparents, Mitsuki Arai has taken on a wide variety of janitorial jobs and performed them with efficiency far beyond that expected of a mere high school student, let alone the average adult in his field. His uncanny ability to eliminate even the most daunting of messes in a fraction of the time it would have taken most anyone else quickly made his grandparents’ business one of the best-known in Kitakyushu, as clients from all walks of life sought out his cleaning talents. Eventually, rumors of the unusually talented young janitor caught the attention of Hope’s Peak Academy, who wasted no time in sending Mitsuki an invitation to the school after learning of his stellar work history. Very little is known about Mitsuki beyond said work history, and judging by his general reluctance to share much in the way of personal information, he prefers to keep it that way.

Assists Shirou in killing Kumi during Chapter 7, although this fact is never uncovered by the class. Survives to the endgame.

Thus, it came as a surprise when Hope’s Peak sent out one of its rare invitations to a completely unknown street musician from Saitama. Only having recently taken over the shop in the past year, he’s made quite the difference and has reigned in over 150 items during that time. Shun got his big break when he brought into his collection a suit of tanko armor, an ancient relic dating back to the 4th century. Such relic can now be found in the city’s museum, as per his donation. Not only does he have an immense collection back home, he seems to have a talent for fixing up any old item and restore to pristine condition. Even if you’ve got a 50 year old desk that’s splintering and ready to fall to pieces, Shun will gladly fix it right back up for you.

[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/13_xube3bx.png]]

Ever feel like befriending a tall, aloof guy who loves to hug people? Well, now it’s possible with Valentino in the house! As a gondola rower from Venice, Valentino has terrific balance, co-ordination and a wonderful singing voice - although his sluggish movement and general laziness often overshadow his good points. Patient enough to rival a saint, he might forget others do not quite appreciate his slow, monotone speech or minimal emotion, but it hasn’t hindered him so far. Doesn’t stop him from sassing people, either.

The second culprit, executed for the murder of Lily in Chapter 2.
----
* BeneathTheMask: Valentino always wears an emotionless expression, but he certainly has personality. What he really thinks or how he feels about a person is impossible to figure out from his exterior alone. He revealed to be very annoyed at highly emotional, dramatic people during a conversation with Mizuiro.
* BigBrotherInstinct: If anyone is in trouble, Valentino wants to help. It may take a while for this instinct to kick in, but when it does, he really will set anything aside to help someone. His motives for such are unknown.

* TallDarkAndHandsome: Valentino is considered very handsome/pretty by common standards, and he is coincidentally the tallest of his class.
* TragicKeepsake: Valentino's scarf is a memento from his deceased brother. This is not hidden information, but Valentino doesn't announce it at every turn either.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: His dark blue hair is natural, believe it or not.

!!!SHSL Long Distance Runner
[[quoteright:150:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/15_9n7cgkv.png]]

Nothing will ever cut down Yuudai in a competition! Initially unknown to the public, the name of Yuudai Akiyama rose quickly in a small school, and then expanded to the media who then focused on the small boy who always reached the top. Originally from a village, the blond was known for rarely staying indoors. Yuudai would run anywhere as he was free to go, with fierce determination. Was he ever tired of running? No, never! This very same determination ensured a place for the boy in school competitions; this is also where he took the specialty only in long distance running. In such short while, he easily reached the first place and managed to break every single record he himself surpassed all the time. Despite, or maybe because of, his short height, Yuudai quickly made a name for himself in the news. In addition of the recognition he gained, some people noted that the boy was far from… Well, kind. Wherever he has malicious intents or not is unknown to this day; and it did not stain his reputation as a star runner, despite the childish air radiating from the boy.

If there’s anything he’s known for better than his creations, it’s his personality. While he’s rarely appeared in interviews for unspecified reasons, those whom have spoken to him personally can confirm he’s quite the odd young man. Brilliant, but odd. When he turned about 10 years old, he moved with his parents to Bungotakada, Ōita. This small countryside town in Japan was where his mother, Hitomi was raised. It was here that Artie scored some incredible opportunities to strengthen the interest he gained in Photography. From here, Artie would take various pictures of the country for no reason other than his own amusement. He decided to write articles and take notes of how gorgeous the locations were and how words and photographic evidence alone simple could not display how gorgeous this place was. His mother, thinking it was a way to get quick cash to help around the household, sent the work he did to a local travel agency, ‘ハッピートレイル’. Not only did they send a letter praising his work: They asked Artie if he might do this for other locations they advertised throughout Japan. On the condition that the family was paid for his hard work as well as his travel expenses, Artie set out to write some of the best articles along with just as impressive pictures to go along with it. One of the things they learned was coding. They picked up on it very quickly and soon learned how to deconstruct codes as well. They started using this knowledge to get into the accounts of people they didn’t like and mess with them. As word spread about what they were doing, people started paying them to do so. They soon moved on to larger projects as their skills increased, eventually shutting down and redirecting websites of major businesses. However, once you put her in front of a canvas, it becomes apparent just why people refer to her as the SHSL Painter. She enjoys pushing the boundaries of the medium, making wildly colorful abstract works of motion and form that seem to jump off the wall at you and grab hold of your imagination. Only 17 years old, she’s already been exhibited at art galleries across Japan and even a few overseas galleries. Her process is unique, drawing on her sound-color synesthesia to produce audio works that she then translates onto paper, painting the work in her mind before it ever makes it onto the canvas.

%%An emotionless husk. If at any moment you think you knew what he was thinking, you don’t. This is the person known as the SHSL AI Programmer. Credited with developing AI programs ranging from robots designed to serve a single basic function to developing ever evolving anti-virus software. While this may be taking the term AI very loosely, it is only the beginning. Rumors have it that Jin Aojima has written programs for Autonomous Androids and sold them to large scale companies, manufacturers, and even the government. Receiving an invitation from Hope’s Peak must have come as no surprise to someone so innovative, however, he took it in stride, accepting the offer after some seemingly strange negotiations.

%%His programming is altered during Chapter 1's motive, and he is also recruited to Hisoka's side. As of Chapter 2, he's still alive.

%%What's that small blur of orange, passing through the street? The one that appears without warning, dashing and leaping her way through with relative ease? You may have caught a glimpse of her yourself, perhaps, be it online, or even in person. It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Kaede Igarashi, the freshest, newest face in Japan's parkour scene! After numerous recordings of her runs through the cities hit the Internet and became viral quite quickly, the identity of this small orange-clad girl became a popular topic of speculation all over the internet, on parkour forums and video comment sections alike. To this day, little is known about the background of Japan's "Orange Flash," and it wasn't until recently that her name came to light. Still, this small, agile young lady has captured the attention of parkour fanatics and passerby alike -- as well as Hope's Peak.

However, they made a sudden return to prominence after it came out that the tantalizingly well-composed culinary images that bedecked the menus and website of a recently-opened restaurant in Fukuoka were created not by well-known food stylist Akemi Tachibana but by her apprentice, Kiyoshi themselves. It didn’t take long for Kiyoshi to begin carving out their own niche in the world of food styling in the wake of this revelation, with numerous restaurant owners, advertisers and the like seeking out their talents. It didn’t take long for Hope’s Peak to offer Kiyoshi a place within its student body either, sending them a letter of invitation mere months after their career started in earnest.

%%Although seemingly entirely unsuited to the title of SHSL Bardolater, with a cheeky streak and a laid back attitude, Mika “Milk” Murakami managed the feat nonetheless. The go-to gal on all things in, around, or about the world famous playwright William Shakespeare, Mika Murakami has studied her idol extensively, and holds an incredible array of knowledge and opinions on both the man’s work and the man himself. %%The greatest thing you’ve ever seen--the future! That is how upcoming young EDM artist Mirai describes themselves, with the kind of half-joking confidence you either find endearing or groan-worthy. Regardless, their quick climb to international fame, at an age when most artists are still trying to make their place in the scene, makes them remarkable enough that some fans don’t even blame them for their cheerful claims of being the coolest, cutest kid you’ve ever seen. And hey, at least a great kid like them would never slam another artist, so they can’t be that bad! First gaining attention over a mashup on their launchpad they’d posted to [=YouTube=], their songs have all been described as upbeat and catchy, with a certain level of sentimentality. Their style leans towards synthpop, electro-house, dubstep, and trance, and after the release of their most recent album, “FATE”, they began a tour in promotion of it which included dates in the US and Europe. Where they’ll continue to go from here is uncertain, but with an invitation from Hope’s Peak many expect them to continue seeing success and admiration for a while. After all, even if they didn’t have their talent, who can resist a sweet face like theirs?

%%What’s a Kemono Artist? Well, that might not be a question everyone has the answer to, but thanks to Sayuri more people are aware of the genre! Better understood in the west as “furry artist,” Sayuri has penned a number of comics, handling all the drawing and writing on their own. Their ability to handle mature philosophical and political issues has given their work a crossover appeal that the slice-of-life stories typical of the genre lack. However, perhaps their most notable skill is making their anthropomorphic characters seem genuinely nonhuman both in form and mind, giving their comics a breath of realism even mature creators struggle to achieve. Their first comic to gain attention was the five-issue series ''Pandora’s Gene'', focusing on ethical issues of genetic engineering, but their true rise to fame was ''The Mark of the Beast'', with its brooding, neo-noir atmosphere and religious overtones. Managing to attract a number of fans otherwise uninterested in the concept of anthropomorphic animals, half of its readers will swear up and down they’re not furries, but it’s pretty cool and do you want to see their {{Original Character}}s? They’re all waiting with bated breath for the final issues of Sayuri’s third series, ''Seekers of Atlantis'', a modern fantasy story Sayuri swears to complete while they’re at Hope’s Peak.

Originally gaining recognition for her good looks, street photography and commentary on trends in the Harajuku area, along with her ability to modify practically anything to look good. Takako’s blog was originally set up four years ago, only becoming even the slightest bit of prominence when Takako herself was 17. Steadily gaining a following until it exploded in popularity last year after one of her liveblogs of Chanel’s, in her own words, sad and droopy new spring/summer collection. Now one of Ameba’s top-ranking bloggers, Takako is well known for her blunt and often downright harsh words on current trends and collections, many find Takako to be too rude to be anything but just an attention seeking kid, however her fans claim that her outspoken nature is part of the entertainment, her harsh words and dry sense of humour being the main source of her popularity.

%%Few who visit Azami Tosaka’s cozy trinkets shop in the little tourists’ shopping village of Nukumori no Mori expect the majority of its upper floor to contain a sprawling art studio, which is almost always entirely packed with people-- and yet, that is indeed what they would find, that very art studio being the home of Peace Paint, the widely renowned art therapy program run by the youngest Tosaka, Yumemi. Starting from humble beginnings, Yumemi first set up her program at the age of fourteen, in the hopes of bringing a sense of serenity to the lives of others through the power of art, attracting interest from a few local residents; however, it was when her little project was featured in a popular district magazine that she truly began to take off, and, soon after, she travelled throughout the country to bring her program to everyone-- from patients to prisoners, from senior citizens to young children, Yumemi firmly believed that everyone could benefit from having the beauty of art in their lives. Picking up interest in media all over as the young girl who was travelling from prefecture from prefecture with the only goal of bringing the power of paint to people all over, Yumemi’s amiable manner and inspiring success won her a reputation, with many towns clamouring for the girl to visit their local halls and centres, as well as causing many to travel to Yumemi’s native Shizuoka Prefecture, to learn the entire Peace Paint course from her first-hand. Having most recently started releasing a series of videos online, teaching different art therapy techniques for use of everyone from all walks of life, it’s no wonder why Yumemi’s determination in her mission to take the “pain” out of “painting” would have caught the eyes of those far and wide-- including those of Hope’s Peak Academy, earning her the well-deserved title of Super High-School Level Art Therapist.

When Jin was invited to Hope’s Peak, her cover was nearly blown- Forcing her to accept, under the condition that Jin could continue acting as her Proxy, and that her identity as SHSL AI Programmer could continue to remain a secret.
