* MistreatmentInducedBetrayal: Unlike canon, Clovis indulges himself in a KickTheDog moment and tells C.C. that his experiments on her had Charles' blessing around a month prior to her accidental release. This is one of two biggest [[ForWantOfANail "nails"]] in the story and, needless to say, once she gets free she immediately stops plotting with the Emperor and throws her full support behind Lelouch's rebellion.

* PsychoLesbian: [[ZigZaggingTrope Triple(?) Subverted]] with Nina Einstein. ForWantOfANail made it so she doesn't fall for Euphemia like in canon, thus precluding her RoaringRampageOfRevenge from happening. She still becomes fairly obsessed with her new LoveInterest -- [[spoiler:Celesta Crossfield (C.C.)]] -- regardless. However Nina learns to channel her feelings in a much more constructive manner by virtue of [[spoiler:becoming C.C.'s [[PropertyOfLove sub]]]], which {{iron|y}}ically seems to keep the "psycho" part of the trope out of the equation.

* MarryThemAll: What C.C. is aiming for with her TheMatchmaker plans below, which involve getting Lelouch to marry Milly and Kallen while she and Sayoko become his legal mistresses. She has also considered Shirley and Kaguya as wife/mistress material, but her specific plans for the two of them remain unspecific. For her part, Nunnally is also supportive of such a scenario, though she's unaware of most of the participants at the moment.

* MayDecemberRomance: This is how 24-year-old Sayoko saw her then-hypothetical relationship with the 17-year-old Lelouch, which was one of the reasons she never acted on her feelings for him until [[TheMatchmaker C.C.]] intervened.

** Lelouch is attracted to Kallen, a girl very similar to his mother (or at least her public face).
** Milly fell in love with Lelouch, whose personality resembles a lot that of her grandfather and actual father figure Reuben Ashford.

* ModelPlanning: In Chapter 28, Zero explains the battle plan with a detailed mock-up model of Port Yokosuka's docks.
* ModestyTowel: Lelouch wears one after coming out of the shower in Chapter 5. C.C. is ''very'' turned on by the sight. See FirstTimeFeeling entry.

* NoHeroToHisValet: Guilford could barely hide his amusement at Cornelia's very occasional bouts of HangoverSensitivity, but did a good enough job for her to be annoyed by it rather than truly angry. Darlton freely admits that's not something he can do, so he simply avoids being around the princess at those times as much as possible lest he gives in to the temptation of making fun of her.

* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Agent Valefar of the Geass Directorate has only been identified by their code name so far.

* {{Polyamory}}: A major subplot is Lelouch slowly but surely getting a harem. He already has both C.C. and Sayoko sharing his bed, and they are later joined by [[spoiler:Milly Ashford]] in Chapter 32. WordOfGod states there are more to come eventually, with C.C. planning the initiation of Kallen, Shirley, and Kaguya, and WordOfGod himself confirming the addition of [[spoiler:Euphemia]]. Considering his father has 108 consorts, it's no surprise that he's not too averse to the idea. It helps that most of the members of Lelouch's harem are sitting between a 1 or 2 on the {{JustForFun/Kinsey Scale|Of Tropes}} while Milly is a solid 3.

* PraetorianGuard: Zero's personal guard within the Black Knights is called the Obsidian Knights in this continuity, led by his [[TheChampion Champion]], the Knight of Zero -- [[spoiler:Kallen "Red Queen" Kozuki/Stadtfeld.]]

* OedipusComplex:
** Sibling variant. Kallen may not care much about her father, but she does think the world of her older brother Naoto. Seeing the same BigBrotherInstinct in Lelouch is one of the things that attracts her to him the most.
** This turns out to be reciprocal from Lelouch's part. Kallen reminds him a lot of his mother -- or rather, what Lelouch ''thinks'' Marianne was like. As he puts it, "brave, fierce, caring, compassionate and with willpower enough to stop a Knightmare in its tracks."
** Milly is another likely example given the number of similarities between her crush and her grandfather, who's been [[RaisedByGrandparents more of a parent to her]] than her father and mother ever had. Lelouch and Reuben are caring men who would do anything for their loved ones, both possessing a keen and insightful [[TheChessmaster chessmaster-level]] intellect paired with ruthless resourcefulness and a flair for the dramatic, all hidden behind an affable, witty and charming persona that it is as much of a real part of them as it is not. Incidentally, [[RealMenCook they're excellent cooks, too]].

** For Kallen, [[spoiler:C.C. seems to be well aware that the redhead can't stand betrayal and is arranging things so the eventual InternalReveal that Lelouch and Zero are one and the same will work ''in favor'' of the pairing instead of [[ShipSinking the opposite]]. How? Simply enough: HonestyIsTheBestPolicy. After waiting for Lelouch, CluelessChickMagnet that he is, to unwittingly make Kallen [[TwoPersonLoveTriangle fall more and more for both of his personas]], C.C. gave Kallen a redacted but near complete disclosure of her plans for Lelouch's love life -- including him [[ExoticExtendedMarriage marrying Milly and Kallen herself with "Celesta" and Sayoko as his mistresses]]. This prompted the [[YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe expected reaction]] in Kallen, but it also precludes many of the reasons she could have to reject a RelationshipUpgrade with Lelouch later on.]]

* LargeHam: Milly is already pretty exuberant normally, but goes full [[spoiler:PerkyFemaleMinion as "Incognito", one of Zero's costumed associates. Think of her alter ego as how ComicBook/HarleyQuinn would be like as a SexyJester DarkChick in a ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' series.]]

** {{Discussed|Trope}}. While talking about the particularities of Lelouch's Geass, C.C. mentioned how it could be used to implant a TriggerPhrase in someone's mind and, for example, "make it so they became [[CodeWordCoitus unbearably horny upon command]]," which gave him and Sayoko one hell of a LuminescentBlush.

** Schneizel gives the OK for Suzaku to get therapy because paying a therapist to keep the only test pilot they could find capable of using the Lancelot stable is cheaper than rebuilding the Lancelot from scratch should he wreck it through his passively suicidal tendencies.

** An everyday thing for HotScientist [[OriginalCharacter Cheryl Silver]] and [[DCupDistress she hates it]].

** {{Implied|Trope}} in Chapter 32. Augur half-jokingly encouraged Zero to "have more morals" than Cheryl Silver's former coworkers and not try to bring her to his bed after she accepted to work for him. Given that his standard procedure for personnel in sensitive positions like hers involves long-term, open-ended BrainwashingForTheGreaterGood and secrecy, the implication was that it'd be trivial for him to later order the HotScientist to moonlight as his [[HighClassCallGirl highly-educated call girl]]. Zero is not amused at said implications.

* MurderIsTheBestSolution: As he was trained mainly for in-and-out assassination missions, Rolo's default solution to any troublesome obstacles is to immediately silence them with lethal force, even when his Geass and other skills would let him easily evade them. This gets him into trouble when sent on a long-term covert mission to Area 11 after killing three noisy ghetto-dwellers as his superior Vassago, points out leaving a trail of bodies behind would just make their mission harder by drawing unwanted attention when the authorities inevitably investigate the sudden string of dead bodies and declares them a blunt instrument and possible [[TheLoad liability]] for the mission, ultimately ordering him not to use lethal force unless she explicitly orders it. He likewise seems incapable of seeing a problem with this when Vassago dresses him down for this, making Vassago convinced his previous trainers and handlers must be idiots.

** Vassago seems to be the most competent of the Demons V.V. sends after Valefar, which is why she was made the leader of the group. The most notable example of this is how she berates Rolo or being unable to break out of his MurderIsTheBestSolution mindset.

** Vassago rips Naberius(aka Rolo) a new one for his MurderIsTheBestSolution policy for witnesses during what is supposed to be a long-term covert mission, as a trail of dead bodies, all made in a close time-frame and all killed by the same weapons, would just draw more unwanted attention and make their mission harder as the authorities will assume a SerialKiller is on the loose or a RevealingCoverUp is in place and heighten patrols and security around the Settlement, making it harder for them to move.

Unsurprisingly, this just seems to solidify Lelouch's already strong DemocracyIsBad mentality.

* LadykillerInLove: Milly Ashford has a [[TheCasanova history of trysts]] [[SchoolgirlLesbians with other girls in Ashford Academy]] and is [[CanNotSpitItOut utterly incapable of confessing to the person she actually loves]]. PlayedWith in that the usual order is reversed in her case: she fell in love first, and later on became a ladykiller -- in part to [[TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest try to move on from her]] [[SubvertedTrope (seemingly)]] [[AllLoveIsUnrequited unrequited feelings]].

** Tetsuya shows hints of being racist against Kallen for her MixedAncestry.

As noted by the narration, Handmaidens are almost required to be armed at all times when by their lady's side. This is also Cornelia's declaration that Milly and Rueben, one of the few allies of Marianne's not to be assassianted, are under her aegis.
