Not a misuse. Genre Savvy is when a character Subverts a common Idiot Ball moment for his/her Genre. In Marcus\'s case, he averts the Idiot Ball of most Yu-Gi-Oh! characters where they constantly the the opponent for granted until they get caught of guard hen his/her slow build strategy is complete. Samuel subverts the Idiot Ball where characters never seem to notice when someone they\'re taking to is quite clearly getting cues from the guy standing behind him.

Added DiffLines:

* OutGambitted: Trying to outsmart Samuel lead to him being humiliated and having his arm snapped in half.

Added DiffLines:

!!Samuel Russel.

A mysterious man working as part of Ravvas's tournament staff. At least at first glance. It soon becomes apparent that he has his own plans in mind and is far more competant than his quote on quote "boss".

He later reveals to the duelists that he's the head of a counter-terroism agency looking to recruit them and that the entire tournament was created as a way to test their skills. Even then though, there's still doubts about how honest he's being.

* AffablyEvil: One possible interpretation. Whether he's actual evil or not, he has an almost unflappable aura of patience.
* AmbiguousAllegiance: It's still unclear whether or not he actually wants to help the duelists or is working against them.
* BigGood: Possibly. It would certainly be the case if his claim about trying to recruit them is true.
** BiggerBad: The logical alternative.
* TheChessmaster: There are some pretty clear signs that his actions are working to a larger goal.
* TheDreaded: Samuel seems to really frighten Ravvas.
* GenreSavvy: He knew exactly what Ravvas would try to do to hide his cheating and was able to calmly tar apart each deception one by one.
* GoodIsNotNice: Assuming he ''IS'' one of the good guys, he's still willing to have someone's arm broken if they inconveniance him.

!!Captain Graeme Daniels.

A creepy soldier wearing a full body suit and gas mask. Graeme is officially Ravvas's head of security but is clearly more loyal to Samuel than to Ravvas. Acting as the former's personal employer.

* CreepyGood: Assuming that he actually IS one of the good guys.
* TheDragon/NumberOne: To Samuel, which one he is depends on their actual alignment.

* GasMaskMooks: Though he's far higher ranking than a mook.
* LightningBruiser: Despite his size, he can move ''incredibly'' fast.
* TheQuietOne: He's had maybe three lines of dialogue.
* SoftSpokenSadist: His voice has been described as being suprisingly soft when he speaks and, good guy or not, he snapped Ravvas's arm in half when the latter started being an annoyance.
* TheStoic: To the point where Sigmund likens him to more like a living weapon than an actual human.

* HotBlooded: He tends to let his emotions get the better of him during times of stress. This becomes even more exagerrated as TheCorruption takes hold.
* HumbleHero: Was genuinely suprised by Roxas's praise.

Added DiffLines:

I recently rewatched the series. Yami Marik was actually an extremely talented duelist even without the God Cards.

* TookALevelInBadass / AdaptationalBadass: In the original series Yami Marik, while still threatening, was more dangerous due to the fact that he had an [[GameBreaker overpowered card]], rather than any actual skill on his part. In this series however he has long since lost the card, and yet he ''still'' manages to utterly dominate both Marcus and Sylvestre.
** And then he switches to a larger and more powerful XYZ Deck made purely to kill his five enemies as quickly as possible, using many cards used by the Barian Invaders of Anime/YugiohZexal. Ironically, this deck ends up being ''easier'' for the duelists to beat.

A rather arrogant and self-centered duelist, Peter's skill and loyalty have nevertheless made him a valued member of the team.

* BigEgoHiddenDepths: His arrogance is an intentional facade created in a misguided attempt to look "cool"
* BreakTheHaughty: This happens when Apophis deconstructs his attempts to be "cool" by showing him just how meaningless he truly is. It's noted that Peter became much nicer after that.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: He is literally ''EatenAlive!''
* DefeatMeansRespect: How his friendship with Regulus was formed.
* {{Determinator}}: The duels against Apophos and it's cult really demonstrates his "Never-Say-Die" attitude.
* DisneyDeath: He get's torn apart by Apophis's Malefic Cyber Dragon, but is resurrected at the end of the duel.
* EatenAlive: His death.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His inner monologue during the Airport episode at the start of Season One where he is obviously trying to put on a fake "badass" personality.
* FriendlessBackground: As far as we've seen, the East Academy students are the first real friends he's made.
* FriendlyRivalry: With Regulus.
* GlorySeeker: His greatest desire is to be remembered for his accomplishments.
* GoodIsNotNice: He's kind of a dick, but still a good person.
* GrudgingThankYou: Since he doesn't show much outward emotion, most signs of gratitude will be this.
* HateAtFirstSight: Downplayed, but he has a tendency to quickly form negative opinions about the people he meets such as Marcus.
* HatesBeingTouched: He was clearly uncomfortable when Roxas hugged him.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: He tries to repress his more likeable traits because he feels it will hurt his "badass" image.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: It's his ultimate desire, see GlorySeeker above.

Added DiffLines:

* OddFriendship: With the snarky Golemn Sentry
* OhCrap: His reaction when he realises Apophis is going to kill him, and when he is buried alive.
* Opposites Attract: Again, his friendship with Golemn Sentry.
* ThePerfectionist: He constantly expects flawless victory from himself.
* ThePrankster: A trait he tries to hide.
* PutOnABus: He dissapeared at the end of Season One and has yet to appear in Season Two.
* TheQuietOne: Another aspect to his "badass" persona.
* RageBreakingPoint: Despite trying to remain stoic during the duel against the Constellar Cultist, he eventually loses his cool and lashes out at Caramon for being next to useless in the duel.
* RebelRelaxation: He is frequently seen using this pose, most memorably during his introduction.

Added DiffLines:

* SacrificialLion: His death shows just how dangerous Apophis truly is.
