* KickTheSonOfABitch: In chapter 1, Milz was hired by a widow to murder a bull named Boris Trovmar. It's later revealed that Trovmar sexually harassed her best friend and was involved in embezzlement, so she was more than happy to kill him.

* TheDarkChick: She's the only female member of the five heads of the Cartel, and she's quite proud of her profession.

* BareYourMidriff: Unintentional example. Vogar is so fat that most of the shirts he wears end up showing off part of his belly, and he rarely bothers tucking them in.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Shows several [[UsefulNotes/AspergerSyndrome Asperger's]] traits. Carlos speaks in monotone all the time, doesn't empathize with anyone, even his teammates, cares about nothing but his missions, is BrutallyHonest, and analyzes everyone and everything around him pragmatically and logically, feeling that egotism and emotions are nothing but a hindrance.

* NotSoDifferent: Kolson is no different from Cale Tomlik. Both of them care about their associates. Both of them are just doing their jobs the best they can. Both of them have committed horribly atrocities in their past. Even Cale doesn't see Kolson as a "bad person." He just sees Kolson as a reflection of himself.

* NotSoDifferent: He's very similar to Cale Tomlik. Both of them work as freelancers. Both of them have a vague DarkAndTroubledPast. Both of them have a partner who behave the exact opposite way they do. And both of them are ManlyGay.

* ThoseTwoBadGuys: Both of them are always seen working alongside each other.

* {{Adorkable}}: He's socially awkward, especially when it comes to talking about personal issues. Even when he asks Cale for his phone number so they could go on a date in the future, he stutters repeatedly.

* BadassGay: Cale is a former soldier who knows how to take on entire squadrons of mercenaries. He's also homosexual.

* BadassGay: He's gay, and he's also a professional mercenary more than capable of handling himself during hellish gun battles.

* NotSoDifferent: He's very similar to Cale Tomlik. Both of them work as freelancers. Both of them have a vague DarkAndTroubledPast. Both of them have a partner who behave the exact opposite way they do. And both of them are BadassGay / ManlyGay.

* NobodyOver50IsGay: Averted. Cale is in his late fifties, and it's brought up more than once that he's homosexual. There's even a scene of him groping his partner Keevonu in a flashback while they're naked in bed.

* GenreSavvy: In chapter 11, he figures out right off the bat that Stollar and Cale were stalling for time, and he points a gun at Stollar's face and begs Gobor to kill them immediately.

* GenreSavvy: Similar to Ekkli, Corrvin also implores Gobor to kill Stollar and Cale immediately because he knows the duo is planning something.

* SmellyFeet: Apparently he's got nasty foot odor, as noted when he puts his footpaws up on a table in chapter 4.

* EyeScream: [[spoiler:In chapter 8, Vogor's eyes detach from their optic nerves and roll out of the sockets onto the floor]].

* FriendsWithBenefits: With Cale. After they have sex, they both agree that they can't be lovers because of their careers and because Cale will be dead in a year or two anyway. But they still wanna befriend wanna another and have sex when they have spare time.

* HeroicComedicSociopath: Downplayed. Styx treats Cale, Stollar, and Carlos' allies kindly for the most part--short of a snarky remark here and there. But when it comes to Kolson's minions, he has no trouble brutally murdering and mutilating them, and he typically does so in darkly comical or audacious way.

* BrutalHonesty: Yordin freely shares whatever is on his mind and shares whatever opinion he has on others, regardless if other people want to hear them or not.

* {{Gasshole}}: Downplayed. Cale doesn't wander around farting and/or all of the time, but there are multiple points in the story where he shamelessly passes gas in public.

* BigBeautifulMan: Cale is noticeably chubby, something [[ChubbyChaser Shannon]] and (less humorously) Gobor point out and find very attractive in Cale.

* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:He's transformed into an eyeless, molting creature too weak to even talk or walk properly, and Cale tells him he's going to be sent to a laboratory no different from the one he ran where he'll be painfully experimented on]].

Leader of a small unit of private military contractors in Markilia.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Shows several [[UsefulNotes/AspergerSyndrome Asperger's]] traits. Carlos speaks in monotone all the time, doesn't empathize with anyone, even his teammates, cares about nothing but his missions, is BrutallyHonest, and analyzes everyone and everything around him pragmatically and logically, feeling that egotism and emotions are nothing but a hindrance.
* CatsAreMean: He's a white tiger, and he doesn't care about anyone's emotions or personal lives, just about completing his missions.
* CreepyMonotone: Everytime he speaks, his voice carries the same deadpan tone, even when he's agitated.
* {{Foil}}: To Cale Tomlik. Both of them are felines, and both of them are basically working for the highest bidder--but that's where their similarities end. Carlos is a sociopath who doesn't care about his partner Wyatt--or anyone else, while Cale cares very deeply for Stollar and his former lover Keevonu. Carlos doesn't care who he has to harm or kill so long as he'll complete his missions, whereas Cale at least tries to avoid collateral damage unless he knows it's unavoidable. Carlos is emotionless and has no sense of humor, while Cale is a {{Troll}} who thoroughly enjoys DarkComedy, and he isn't afraid to occasionally show his true feelings.
* LackOfEmpathy: Doesn't seem to value his allies' emotions. When Cale explains to him that he ''needs'' to capture Kolson after going into his backstory, he disregards him completely and still thinks he's a liability. And when [[spoiler:Geoff, Caleb and Tony are all killed]], he shrugs off their deaths, and even forgets one of their names.
* ThePigPen: A few characters mention that Carlos has an odor problem. Carlos admits he doesn't have time to bathe, brush his teeth, or even change his clothes "unless the mission calls for it."
* SociopathicHero: He and his unit assist Cale and Stollar with assaulting Kolson's compound. Nevertheless, Carlos is only in it for the money, and even threatens to kill Cale should he screw up and become a liability in the field.
* TheStoic: He shows no emotion, except for when he's shouting orders during gunfights.
* TheUnfettered: Carlos' top priority? Accomplishing his missions. He doesn't care what he has to do or who he has to kill in order to finish them.
* YouNeedABreathMint: Stollar ''immediately'' recoils when he catches wind of his breath when they first meet, and asks Cale if he noticed it. He noticed, and Wyatt in particular jokes that Carlos can knock out the enemy just by opening his mouth.

* YourHeadASplode: [[spoiler:His skull is turned to mulch by laser fire after someone shoots him in the head with a railgun]].

* DroppedABridgeOnHim: Both of them die off-screen, and their deaths are glossed over completely.
* KilledOffscreen: During the shootout at Kolson's warehouse, both of them are alive and well. When all the chaos ends, Carlos mentions that both of them perished at some point.
* RedShirt: Neither of them has a single line in the story and they're only mentioned a couple times. They're later killed with little fanfare.
* ThoseTwoGuys: They're always mentioned working alongside each other.

Cale Tomlik's former lover, and a former member of the Cephalopodan Strikers.

* IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Prior to their breakup, all Drake cared about was ensuring Cale lived a happy life with him.
* ManlyGay: Similar to Cale, he's a muscular former mercenary who is also homosexual.
* ManlyTears: He starts crying after he discovers that Cale got infected with a lethal pathogen that has no known cure.
* NiceGuy: Arguably the nicest character in the whole story. He cared deeply for Cale Tomlik and helped him start his career in bounty hunting.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Drake only appears in flashbacks scattered throughout the story. But if it hadn't been for him, Cale never would've become a bounty hunter, and he wouldn't be taking on the Quintuple Cartel in the present.

One of the three leaders of the Rottili Mafia criminal organization.

* AffablyEvil: He's a jolly, understanding, forgiving person to talk to, despite being one of the three heads of the Rottili Mafia.
* AlliterativeName: '''R'''ellis '''R'''otilli. He just so happens to be a '''r'''at as well.
* CigarChomper: He's rarely seen without a fat cigar in his mouth.
* DepravedHomosexual: Subverted. Rellis initially ''appears'' to be this in his opening chapter, with how he allegedly threatened to rape Cale and Gaines by showing off his ass and penis. Turns out [[{{Troll}} he was trying to gross them out]] and had no intention of raping either of them.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Rellis despises rapists, especially people like Gobor Grizzer, since they do nothing but reinforce the DepravedHomosexual stereotype he's sick and tired of being labelled as, even though he never once raped anyone. When he finds out Cale and Stollar arrested Gobor, he's absolutely enthusiastic over what they did to him.
* FatBastard: Noted for how obese he is, as well as for his prominent role when it comes to arms dealing for the mafia.
* {{Gayngster}}: He's openly homosexual and a well-known, fearsome gangster.
* LargeHam: Enjoys being the center of attention whenever he's the one in the room talking.
* ThePigPen: In chapter 3, Cale ''smells'' him before he sees him, and the narration repeatedly mentions that the rat cares little for personal hygiene.
* {{Troll}}: He knows he's ugly and disgusting and is proud of it. So he intentionally grosses out people by showing off his fat body--or even his copulatory organs--just to amuse himself by their reactions.
* YouDirtyRat: He's a filthy rat who's also a high-ranking member of a mafia organization.
* YouNeedABreathMint: Cale and Stollar both tell Rellis to his face that he's got bad breath. [[InsultBackfire Not that he seems to care]].

A chirop who helps Cale, Stollar, and Carlos' unit assault Kolson's compound.

* AcidAttack: Styx has the ability to vomit up acid powerful enough to dissolve armor.
* BatOutOfHell: Styx is a massive, bat-like alien who has the ability to vomit up acid and enjoys tearing people to shreds. Thankfully, he's working ''with'' the protagonists, not against them.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: He's a rowdy bat still in his teenage years who enjoys fooling around and acting like a party animal. He's also a deadly fighter more than capable of taking care of himself and killing his foes when need be.
* HeroicComedicSociopath: Downplayed. Styx treats Cale, Stollar, and Carlos' allies kindly for the most part--short of a snarky remark here and there. But when it comes to Kolson's minions, he has no trouble brutally murdering and mutilating them, and he typically does so in darkly comical or audacious way.
* ImAHumanitarian: In chapter 16, Styx kills some chirops off-screen and, while chewing on chirop flesh, asks Stollar if cannibalism means eating ''dead'' flesh of the same species as you. Stollar says yes. [[RefugeInAudacity And then Styx keeps eating]].
* LargeHam: Very, ''very'' noisy and obnoxious, and he enjoys letting everyone know whenever he enters a room.

A crocodile who lives deep within Demyl Swamp, and one of the scientists working for Dr. Vogar Oblingor.

* BrutalHonesty: Yordin freely shares whatever is on his mind and shares whatever opinion he has on others, regardless if other people want to hear them or not.
* EveryoneHasStandards: Despite Yordin's crass and blunt attitude, he's not hostile or a sociopath, and he hates how so many people around universe harm and kill others just because they don't share the same viewpoints on divisive topics.
* TheHermit: He lives in the middle of Demyl Swamp, away from the public.
* {{Jerkass}}: He's openly homophobic, transphobic, and he doesn't care about anyone else's feelings besides his own.
* JerkassHasAPoint: Yordin hates how society constantly keeps secrets and how most people aren't capable of telling the truth. Given that BitchInSheepsClothing is a thing, and that some of the people he's worked with turned out to be who they said they weren't, he's got every reason to feel this way.
* RetiredBadass: He used to be a sergeant in the army.
* SoleSurvivor: He's the only one of over ''seven hundred'' of Dr. Oblingor's associates who wasn't killed or turned into a mindless anthro by the cronok's experiments.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Yordin and Dr. Vogar Oblingor used to actually enjoy each other's mannerisms, to the point where the doctor hired Yordin ''because'' he never lied about how he felt. But when Yordin realized Dr. Oblingor was killing dozens of innocent civilians, their friendship ended, and he teamed up with Cale to bring him to justice.
