A third year at Hanzō Academy, Daidōji is a senior student who is well-respected by the other students. She possesses immense strength and agility and prefers to run into battle head-on rather than hiding in the shadows.

** As of ''Peach Beach Splash'' her muscles grow much larger when she undergoes her shinoi transformation, similar to how Ryoubi grow during her transformation. In her usual form, Daidōji has a much more slender build, similar to everybody else.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Daidoji's never actually stated herself to be in love with or attracted to Rin, but her behavior towards Rin in recent installments raises quite a few eye-brows.
* ArtEvolution: Nan went on to draw Daidōji with more muscle mass as the series continued, in the character's original debut the artwork for Daidōji made her have roughly the same body build as the other girls but with some toned muscles, her abs in particular; Daidōji’s face too became a bit more stern and rough looking compared to her early days, however her in-game model didn’t follow the same trend, as of ''Burst Re:Newal'' it still is aligned with Daidōji’s debut appearance.

* BareFistedMonk: She is one of few characters who lacks a weapon of sort. She only fights with the raw power of her fists with occasional kick here and there.

* DumbMuscle: Present only in her appearances in the Sony games (Since ''Bon Appetit'' onwards) where the staff has taken her stoicism [[{{Flanderization}} to the extremes]] for comedy's sake. The best example of this being her Dual Heart's story in ''Estival Versus'' where she suddenly clams up after being asked some extremely basic multiplication table questions by Rin. She defends herself by claiming that it's only natural she doesn't know such "college-level" math.
* {{Fundoshi}}: [[GenderInvertedTrope A rare female example]]. In keeping with her [[JapaneseDelinquents banchou]] chic, she wears these loincloths place of any sort of panties. She also tends to complain about being made to wear anything that ''isn't'' a fundoshi.
* GuestFighter: A DLC character in Takaki's newest game Uppers, making her the third character in the series to star in a crossover (the others being Yumi and Homura).

* HotForTeacher: Technicaly, she is still a student and Rin is a teacher, do the math.
** Her version from the ''Guren no Hebi'' manga is a classic example of this trope given her not so subtly interest on Kiriya.

* JapaneseDelinquents: Visually, in her transformed state she's a walking reference to the ''Banchou'' archetype (long school coat embroided with her name, WildHair, {{Sarashi}}, CommissarCap) While in her regular appearance she's a reference to the ''Sukeban'' archetype (Lengthened skirt, [[DelinquentHair Dirty Blonde Hair]]).
* TheJuggernaut: This woman's monstrous strength also makes her nearly impossible to take down. This was also evident in past New Wave events where she's was an event boss [[HopelessBossFight whose only purpose was to help players climb up the damage rankings]]. As you could expect, absolutely nothing would work.

** In ''Bon Appetit'' she leaves in a trip to the depths of Africa to find AND fight the greatest warrior alive: ''[[StockNessMonster Mokele-Mbembe]]''
** In ''Estival Versus'' when Rin suggests that a lack of femininity is a personal weakness of Daidōji's, she immediately perceives this as a major flaw in her ''physical defenses'' and sets about attempting to gather more "feminine power", as she calls it. When Yumi suggests that she start with her coarse manner of speech, she takes that literally as well, and proceeds to steal speech quirks from the girls she comes across - starting with Yumi's embarrassing VerbalTic.
** ''Estival Versus'' also throws a reference to her ''Bon Appetit'' story in the opening narration for her Girl's Heart story, where she once again states her interest of facing different creatures in combat, like a Yeti, a Dragon, an UFO or a ''black hole''. For the last one, Daidōji thinks that there must be a powerful warrior at the center of a black hole since nothing can escape from one.

* MightyGlacier: She hits likes a tank, but she is also the slowest character out of the whole cast, so keeping a high hit count with her during a mission is harder to do.

* OneWomanArmy: Even by the standards of the shinobi, Daidōji is regarded on par with a force of nature when it comes to combat. In ''Deep Crimson'' she takes on dozens of Youma by ''herself''.

* OutOfFocus: Her presence in the games keeps getting smaller and smaller as the series goes on. As of 2019 she's virtually nonexistent in merchandising for the series, has the lowest amount of cards in New Wave among all the original cast, and her presence in the Shinobi Master anime amounted to two brief, nonspeaking cameos in episodes 8 and 11.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: Her Aerial Ninpo has her unleash one of these, with almost full screen range.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Meat, specially the aforementioned slabs of meat.

* SpiritedCompetitor: Surprisingly enough for someone as driven as her (and in stark contrast to her counterpart Rin), she seems to value the concept of winning in itself very little - the few times she's beaten, she immediately takes the loss in stride. In ''Shinovi Versus'', it's strongly implied during a flashback that one of the bigger reasons she never "won" against Rin in their time together was that she had no real intention of taking the fight that far - just spending time fighting Rin was enough for her.

** A [[https://twitter.com/yaegasinan/status/1229189747228037121 sketch drew by Nan]] shows she looked essentially the same as she does now in her regular appearance when she was younger.

* GuestFighter: A DLC character in Takaki's newest game [[RatedMForManly Uppers]], making her the third character in the series to star in a crossover (the others being Yumi and Homura).

* SenpaiKohai: She has this dynamic with both the rest of the Hanz&#333's students as their Sempai and with Rin as her kohai.

* SenpaiKohai: She was once Daidouij's Sempai.

* AdaptationalWimp: In the games, Asuka is portrayed as a hot-blooded warrior with a constant drive to improve herself. In comparison to the anime, Asuka is a [[TheKlutz klutz]]. She also has a fear of frogs in the anime, which she doesn't have in the games (but she does get over it with a little help from Ikaruga).

* AmbiguouslyBi: Early on in the series, she once had a crush on and considered dating the male baseball player Suzuki at her school (who didn't know she was a shinobi), but she decided to turn down his confession despite liking him [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies upon deciding it wouldn't work out with someone who wasn't a ninja like her]]. On the other hand, while Asuka is close to all of her female shinobi, her relationship with Homura is on another level compared to the others. In fact, when [[ShipperOnDeck Yumi]] reveals to Asuka that Homura "like, likes her" in ''Shinovi Versus'', Asuka's response is one of surprise but ultimately doesn't mind. She acts surprised again in ''Estival Versus'' when Yumi says that Homura's rivalry with Asuka is Homura's way of saying that she loves Asuka. In ''Peach Ball'' being reminded of Homura's existence is what can help Asuka regain her memories. However, it's ambigous because she hasn't given Homura a clear answer.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Not ''nearly'' as bad as the other girls, to the point where it's nearly nonexistent, but the intro of the anime shows she wasn't always happy with being forced to be a shinobi from a [[ChildSoldier VERY young age.]] And, while she loves her Grandpa, [[ParentalAbandonment her parents aren't anywhere to be seen either.]]

* DCupDistress: Worries that her breasts might be growing too big.
* DefeatMeansFriendship: The only ninja who runs on this more than the [[Manga/{{Naruto}} orange-clothed blondie himself]], Asuka will happily befriend literally anyone, good shinobi or bad shinobi. It's gotten to the point where Homura has realized Asuka doesn't care ''who'' she is friends with. Homura herself is a shining example of Asuka's methods, as she (whether she admits it or not) is Asuka's best friend and this friendship was forged through combat. Asuka herself doesn't need to win in order to apply this trope. Yumi in the Gessen route of ''Shinovi Versus'', who beat Asuka before the latter challenged to a quick rematch, straight out asks if they can be friends after the battle is over. The one enemy she refuses to befriend, besides the animalistic yoma, is [[HateSink Dogen]].

* {{Foil}}: Homura and her both have similar upbringings, but the key difference is that [[spoiler:Homura was kicked out of her home for defending herself. Had Asuka been in a similar situation, she likely could have ended up like Homura.]]

* GreenAndMean: {{Inverted|Trope}}. Asuka is strongly associated with the color green, but she's TheProtagonist... at least, when [[WolverinePublicity Yumi]] isn't involved.
* GoodIsNotDumb: She seems to be GoodIsDumb at the start but shows herself to be fairly smart towards Homura.

* HideYourLesbians: Given her strong feelings toward her rivals, her propensity to rub herself on her female friends on official artworks, and the whole Yumi/Homura/Asuka affair in SV, it has been speculated that Asuka is a lesbian/bisexual who hasn't realized it yet (with training taking up the major part of her social life and all that).
** According to one mini story released to promote 'Burst' release, Asuka gave Katsuragi permission to grope her because she thought Katsuragi didn't find her attractive. This of course, was Katsuragi's plan all along.

* TheIdealist: Initially; it doesn't prevent her from taking fights very seriously, though.

* InnocentInnuendo: This little quote from ''Shinovi Versus''.
** ''I've learned a new trick! I can bite two sushi rolls at the same time! They're a little too big for my mouth, though. I can't swallow them both at once...''

* LargeAndInCharge: Inverted, she's the shortest of her group. She's even shorter than the first years Yagyu and Hibari.

* LightningBruiser: Despite ostensibly being the “Mario” of the series as the starter character and a relatively balanced fighter, in practice Asuka boasts good power, speed, AND defense relative to the rest of the cast. In fact, when fully upgraded, she’s easily one of the strongest shinobi in the game outside of the deliberately OP secret characters (IE Daidoji and Rin). It helps that her attacks are also straightforward and have no gimmicks beyond being powerful and fast.
** The Jack Of All Trades part is actually a significant part of her character -- she realizes that everyone else at Hanzō is better than her at ''something'', and constantly trains to try to bridge the gap.

* ShipTease: As mentioned above in IfItsYouItsOkay, Asuka has this with [[LesYay Homura]].

* SuperMode: She becomes "Ultimate Asuka"; it replaces her frog summon in ''Estival Versus'' as her ultimate ninpo while being own character like Crimson Homura in ''Deep Crimson''. It increases her speed, extends her blade with green energy and alters her attacks to be faster and hit more mooks.

* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: In the anime she is ''deathly'' afraid of frogs. Unfortunately for her, her family's summon animal is the frog. Fortunately for her, Ikaruga devises a way for her to overcome it.

** ''Length is a factor, of course, but what matters most is durability. One round is never enough. It takes ten times in a row to satisfy me. Of course, they usually break long before then, and the worst ones give you splinters. Good training swords are really hard to come by.''

* LethalChef: [[CordonBleughChef Averted.]] While the food Ikaruga makes is so hideous one of the manga has to ''pixellate it'', it actually tastes pretty good in spite of what Ikaruga does to make it.

* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Well, it's not as if Asuka puts up a lot of resistance toward Katsu-nee's attentions. Ayame takes it to outright LesYay territory, with a few off-screen "things" in ''Peach Beach Splash'' that she's too embarrassed to say out loud.
