** CatchPhraseInterruptus: In #14, Roidmude 096 opens fire on him while he's doing all this. Mach tries again a minute later, only to find at the end that 096 has escaped while he's done so. When he transforms again later in the episode, he cuts ''himself'' off to keep it from happening again; and in the ''next'' episode against the same Roidmude he doesn't even try.

** CombiningMecha: It can combine with another motorcycle to from a car called the Ride Crosser. That motorcycle happens to belong to Mashin Chaser - which means Mach actually steals the villain's bike. [[spoiler:Chase later returns the favor.]]

* HotScientist: Or the "Beautiful Scientist", as Otta commented. She even bemoans having to cancel a date in #8 due to having to work on the Door Gun.

* WeaponOfChoice
** CoolSword: The Handle Sword, which he named. Despite [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Mr. Belt's disapproval of the rather sad name]], he can turn the wheel to power up the sword with TURN! attacks, and after three turns he can perform U-TURN! attacks that allow him to slide across the battlefield. If he honks the horn instead, he performs the [[SpinAttack "Drift Rotation"]]. By loading Shift Cars into the back of the hilt, he can perform [[FinishingMove Full Throttle attacks]].
** CoolGuns: The Door Gun. Again, despite [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Mr. Belt quietly asking him to improve his naming system]], Drive can fire powerful shots and recharge the weapon by opening and closing the door on the gun. He can also use it to project an [[LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe energy shield]]. And just like the Handle Sword, the Door Gun has a slot for Shift Cars that allow him to perform Full Throttle attacks.
** HandCannon: The Trailer-Hou, usually reserved for Type Formula and Type Tridoron. This time, [[RuleOfThree Mr. Belt has begrudgingly accepted the fact Shinnosuke would name it]], Drive can fire powerful shots like a shot gun from this weapon. Like the others, the Trailer-Hou has a slot for Shift Cars to perform Full Throttle attacks. Unusually, it has multiple purposes.
*** Type Formula has it where he has to load the Shift Formula Shift Car into the Shift Landing Slot, located on the top of the barrel, then loads two Shift Cars into the chamber of the cannon, then fire a blast of energy, the loaded Shift Cars altering the effects of the blasts somewhat.
*** Type Tridoron has it where he has to load any that isn't Shift Formula into the slot, then loads Shift Tridoron into the chamber, getting Drive to fire an energized Tridoron at the opponent, transforming into what Shift Car he had used to put into the slot prior to the blast.

* RagtagBunchOfMisfits: The team consist of a lazy bum, an otaku, a robotic woman, wacky scientist, an AgentScully extraordinare and a superstitious chief. In spite of that, TheyFightCrime. And the fact that their weirdness is what makes them a good unit is reminiscent of a [[Series/KamenRiderFourze certain high school club]].

* CoolCar: Tridoron provides him with his sweet transportation, his [[CoolSword Handle Sword]] & [[CoolGuns/{{Handguns}} Door Gun]], and his tires for weapons and special abilities. Tridoron itself is armed with lasers, transforms with him depending on his form, and can even be enhanced with Tires of its own.

** [[CoolGuns/{{Handguns}} Cool Gun]]: The Door Gun. Again, despite [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Mr. Belt quietly asking him to improve his naming system]], Drive can fire powerful shots and recharge the weapon by opening and closing the door on the gun. * ProperTightsWithASkirt: As a model police officer, this is a part of her uniform. [[ShesGotLegs But when]] [[MsFanservice it isn't...]]

* AmbiguousDisorder: He seems to be suffering from some form of depression.

* StepfordSmiler: Initially appearing as bright and cheerful, once Go's mask of showmanship breaks he reveals himself to be intensely bitter and spiteful underneath.

** '''Kick Macher''': Mach's default [[DivingKick Rider Kick]], where Mach vertically [[EverythingsBetterWithSpinning spins in place]] with yellow energy being generated from the spinning before zooming in for the kill.

* SuperPrototype: Subverted. The Drive Driver and Shift Brace are much more cumbersome (and far more picky when it comes to their users) than the Mach Driver Honoh which can access a majority of the powers afforded by the Shift Cars by itself. However, it has a higher storage capacity to accommodate a data packet as substantial as a complete digital copy of a person's consciousness such as Krim's. This is why [[spoiler:Banno]] chooses to duplicate it over its technically more advanced successor. That, and it would cheese Krim [[spoiler:his old colleague]] off.

* BettyAndVeronica: The Betty to Chase's Veronica for Kiriko's Archie. He won.

* BeautyMark: Has a mole on the right side of his chin.

* TimePolice: Not their intended vocation, but members of the [=SIU=] find themselves contending with schemes to alter the time stream by the Roidmudes [[spoiler:and Shocker]] during some of the movies and tv specials they star in.

* BabiesEverAfter: At some point after the series' timeline, he has a son called Eiji who appears in ''Surprise Drive''. And Eiji's dialogue about his mother implies that Shinnosuke settles down with Kiriko, which is confirmed in the series finale.

* HappilyMarried: With Kiriko after the crossover movie with Series/KamenRiderGhost.

* {{Leitmotif}}: "Don't Lose Your Mind", which is about keeping yourself together no matter how hard things are or how lonely you feel. To a limited extent "Surprise Drive" is mostly his theme as well.

** Type Formula has its issues as well; Shinnosuke sprains his neck simply by using it's Full Throttle due to the massive g-force he was forced to endure. The Trailer Cannon, Mantarn F01, Jacky F02, and Sparner F03 Shift Cars are all made so that his body can last while in this form without overexerting himself.

** '''Trailer Impact''': The finisher of the Trailer Cannon. To activate it, two Shift Cars must be loaded inside of it while the Formula Shift Car is placed in a special slot above the barrel of the cannon. The finisher slightly depends on the Shift Cars loaded inside, with the most common being a powerful beam of energy.
** '''Trailer Big Impact''': The finisher of the Trailer Cannon as Type Tridoron. To activate it, the Shift Tridoron must be loaded into it while Drive uses any Type Change Shift Car except for Shift Formula onto the special slot above the barrel. The resulting blast results in Drive shooting an energized Tridoron itself, but in doing so, transforms from Type Tridoron into the Type that is provided by which Type Change Shift Car he inserted beforehand.

** HandCannon: The Trailer Cannon, usually reserved for Type Formula and Type Tridoron. This time, [[RuleOfThree Mr. Belt has begrudgingly accepted the fact Shinnosuke would name it]], Drive can fire powerful shots like a shot gun from this weapon. * BrainwashedAndCrazy: Possibly after [[spoiler:Roidmude 004 kidnaps him while Shinnosuke is weakened when Banno suddenly betrayed his own son, Go, Mr. Belt and Shinnosuke, and before Shinnosuke arrived once Banno completed the copy of Drive Driver for his use might be related to the summer movie. Apparently to be true, as Banno had 004 implanted Mr. Belt with the "special" chip that makes him evil in the summer movie recently, the same chip that turned the Roidmudes evil.]]

* FutureMeScaresMe: In [[spoiler:Surprise Future movie. Later turns out to be Paradox Roidmude, who mimics his appearance]].

** In Surprise Drive it is shown that he can talk to Shinnosuke while the Trailer Cannon's announcement is being spoken, so either he can talk with two voices at once or the transformation and special attack's announcement are pre-programmed

* BabiesEverAfter: Eiji Tomari (Shinnosuke's son from ''Surprise Drive'') says his mother rarely smiles and only does so if she's glad, heavily implying she eventually marries Shinnosuke and gives birth to Eiji. This is confirmed in the series finale.

* HappilyMarried: To Shinnosuke after the crossover movie with Series/KamenRiderGhost. In Drive Saga 2, she is currently taking a maternity leave to takes care of the newborn Eiji and seems pretty content with it.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: She is understandably terrified when she confronts the Paint Roidmude, due to the trauma she suffered when it attacked her in the past.

* ChristmasCake: #16 and 17 show that she's worried about becoming one. [[spoiler:This is the driving force of her conflict with Genpachiro during the Heart half of ''Kamen Rider Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Mach / Kamen Rider Heart'' because he's dragging his feet when it comes to proposing to her.]]

** From 26 onward, some of his quirks are still there but much less exaggerated, suggesting that he intentionally played them up to divert suspicion.

** As the series goes on, his loyalty to the [=SIU=] only increases, and in 25 he tells Shinnosuke that no matter what happens, he'll always have his back.

* AntiHero: After CerebusSyndrome kicked in, he becomes this. He is far more cynical than the rest of the cast, seeing [[FantasticRacism Roidmudes only as monsters deserving death]]. He also suggests killing criminals working with Roidmudes in front of Kiriko and Shinnosuke.
* ArchnemesisDad:[[spoiler:Banno, having created the Roidmudes that he initially was so determined to kill them all, and is a total madman in general.]]

* {{Expy}}: In terms of ''Kamen Rider'' characters, he's reminiscent of [[Series/KamenRiderWizard Beast]] as a hammy, laid-back secondary Rider that gets more serious and anti-heroic as time goes on.

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Played for laughs. When Jun accidentally makes himself an assassination target for the Shoot Roidmude during #34 by handcuffing himself to the android's original target, Kyuu and Gen see no problem with abandoning the two as they're technically not members of the Special Crime Unit.

** Kyuu was a student of his, [[spoiler:and it's implied he had his work plagiarized by him.]]

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:Postseries stuff repeatedly shows sealing all of his tech away wasn't his best idea in the long run, as Shinnosuke ''keeps needing'' his Drive powers as new threats arise, and thus either has to resort to other means or Belt-san has to get brought out somehow.]]

** In #11, he seemingly has a random conversation with a friend about some favor that he was owed, while Shinnosuke and Kyu are discussing how to get access to a potential lead who's in prison. Turns out that ''whoever'' it was was able to get Shin time to interview the Copycat Pirate, whom had information in Volt's case. As Kyuu put it afterward: "He's an enigma, wrapped in a mystery."

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Shinnosuke and Kyuu are completely floored when he shows off his office politics skills in #11.
** And in 33, when Nira tells him to stop joking and try to [[spoiler:find a new Kamen Rider, the chief just breaks down, leaving the goofy persona for that moment.]]

* BroughtDownToBadass: He's certainly not helpless when he's out of the suit, being an elite cop and a very smart detective. Best seen in episode 48, when despite [[spoiler:being unable to transform anymore]], Shinnosuke declares that [[BadassBoast he's still a cop, AND a Kamen Rider]].

* TimeStandsStill: In Episode 6, Belt-san reveals to Shinnosuke that Drive can also cause Density Shifts. However, he never uses it in the entire show's run.

* PropheticNames: We have a man named Stein''belt'' becoming a belt. [[LampshadeHanging Shinnosuke notes this once he learns "Belt-san's" real name in Episode 10.]]

* ClothesMakeTheSuperman: In episode 16 she gets a pair of boots that [[KickChick dramatically improves her kicking strength]].

* DepletedPhlebotinumShells: In episode 16 she gets special bullets that can penetrate a Roidmude's armor.

* RescueRomance: Episode 16 suggests she had a crush on Proto-Drive. The episode's Roidmude appeared as the man of Kiriko's dreams. The Roidmude was surprised to learn the Kiriko was seeing ''Chase''.
* SecretKeeper: Is the only member of the [=SIU=] that knows Drive's true identity in the beginning. Later, Rinna joins this crowd, followed by the rest of the [=SIU=] after episode 25.

* SheCleansUpNicely: Not that she looks unattractive in her police uniform, but when in [[Recap/KamenRiderDriveEp8WhatIsTheSecretThatDwellsInTheHeart episode 8]] she meets Hayase for the first time in a civilian outfit, she looks ''really good''.
** In [[Recap/KamenRiderDriveEp11WhoCanPreventADarkChristmasEve episode 11]], she dresses up for the Christmas party and, needless to say, '''hot !'''

** NotSoStoic: Shows this in episode 4 when facing her trauma caused by #010.

** [[spoiler:This brutally justified in episode 32 when it's shown that THE ENTIRE POLICE FORCE was subjected to memory-alterations of anything Roidmude related, making their ArbitrarySkepticism completely unintentional]].

* {{Malaproper}}: As noted under RunningGag, he can't seem to remember the name "Roidmude", instead calling them things like "Hemmoroido". Lampshaded in episode 27 where, when infected by a Roidmude's HatePlague, he angrily rants that the other members of Special Crimes think he's an idiot for doing this... [[HypocriticalHumor while still doing it]]. [[spoiler:Later on, we learn it's justified, as the entire force is brainwashed to not remember]].

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Becomes this in episode 29, thanks to [[spoiler:Roidmude 001]].[[spoiler:Subverted, he was actually GoodAllAlong, planning to rescue his father, whose mind was revealed to be alive inside Brain's tablet, yet [[ItsAllMyFault felt guilty]] on [[ILetGwenStacyDie seeing Freeze kill Shinnosuke and Mr. Belt]], as he didn't mean for that to happen.]]

** Episode 27 confirms this, when [[spoiler:Go reveals Professor Banno is his father, and he's trying to destroy the Roidmudes to atone for Banno's mistakes.]]

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: He gets unexpectedly serious in episode 14, when Mr. Belt tells Shinnosuke about the true identity of Chase. Also when he rescues his sister from Chase.

* NotSoDifferent: [[spoiler:Go could use Chase as a shaving mirror now.]]

** That's not to say that the regular police are incompetent. On a few occasions, regular police officers have tried to stand up to the Roidmudes (e.g. reborn 007 while he was searching for his human host) but are hopelessly ill-equipped for the task. [[spoiler: And there is the small fact that one of the Roidmude bigwigs has infiltrated the government and has a lot of power over the police force and has frequently used memory alterations...]]

** Kyuu was a student of his, [[spoiler: and it's implied he had his work plagiarized by him.]]

* ProperlyParanoid: His unwillingness to go public with Drive's identity or inform the police that the Kamen Rider is working for them might cause Shinnosuke frustration, but he has good reason. [[spoiler: After all, the last time he shared technology with someone he thought he could trust, it resulted in the creation of the Roidmudes and the death of a lot of people, himself included.]] And as he points out to Shinnosuke, the Roidmudes could have eyes and ears anywhere, [[spoiler: which happened with the Roidmude who copied Kyu (albeit benevolent), and with 001 who took the form of a government official with oversight over the police. Then again when he met Banno, who is now in tablet form, Mr. Belt thought Banno's darkness was still intact ever since he found out Banno had been abusing Heart before they were killed by the Roidmudes, and warned his allies not to trust him on the chance he's using his former colleagues and allies, including his own family to gather enough data to enact his evil plan (which resulted in stealing Roidmude #006's body to become Kamen Rider Gold Drive after Mr. Belt was kidnapped by #004)]].

* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler: After witnessing Banno torture Heart in the most cruel ways he can think of, he ends his friendship with Banno. [[ItsAllAboutMe Banno thought he was joking.]]]]

* ContrivedCoincidence: When he's part of the action the plot goes to ridiculous lengths to make sure Gen's knocked unconscious so he can't figure out Shinnosuke and Gou are the Kamen Riders. Until #25, that is, thanks to the Sword Roidmude attacking a hospital.

* {{Malaproper}}: As noted under RunningGag, he can't seem to remember the name "Roidmude", instead calling them things like "Hemmoroido". Lampshaded in episode 27 where, when infected by a Roidmude's HatePlague, he angrily rants that the other members of Special Crimes think he's an idiot for doing this... * BrainwashedAndCrazy: Becomes this in episode 29, thanks to [[spoiler: Roidmude 001]].[[spoiler: Subverted, he was actually GoodAllAlong, planning to rescue his father, whose mind was revealed to be alive inside Brain's tablet, yet [[ItsAllMyFault felt guilty]] on [[ILetGwenStacyDie seeing Freeze kill Shinnosuke and Mr. Belt]], as he didn't mean for that to happen.]]

* ButtMonkey: [[Film/SuperHeroTaisenGPKamenRider3 In GP Kamen Rider #3 and the online series #4,]] he [[spoiler: gets KILLED in both the alternate timeline and in a GroundhogDayLoop, more times than the other Riders.]]

** He also gets conned by the Seeker Roidmude and [[spoiler: while pretending to be brainwashed by the Roidmudes, couldn't do anything to save Shinnosuke from his "death".]] Poor dude can't get a break.

* CantCatchUp: A common trend for secondary Riders, but for Mach it especially hurts because Chaser is ''also'' stronger than him in every way. To say he's agitated over this would be an understatement. Averted at least somewhat when he becomes the undisputed master of Dead Heat form, allowing him to overheat himself without going berserk. [[spoiler: Tragically averted in the penultimate episode when he gets Chase's powers to fuse with his own... After Chaser's HeroicSacrifice]].

** CombiningMecha: It can combine with another motorcycle to from a car called the Ride Crosser. That motorcycle happens to belong to Mashin Chaser - which means Mach actually steals the villain's bike. [[spoiler: Chase later returns the favor.]]
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Go is cheerful, goofy, and has a good relationship with the show's main Rider; meanwhile, [[Series/KamenRiderGaim the previous show's]] Kaito Kumon was a [[TheComicallySerious Comically Serious]] {{Jerkass}} ([[JerkWithAHeartOfGold with a very small heart of gold]]) and openly antagonized the main Rider from the start, even to the point of [[spoiler:being the "FinalBoss" Gaim defeats at the end of the series]]. Eventually, Go subverts this trope showing traits similar to both Kaito ''and'' Micchy and starts to show darker shades to his character, much as Kaito evolved into a more sympathetic and morally complex character. [[spoiler: This is still in effect due to his own sympathetic background, and while he was really just a FakeDefector, he still ends up going through a similar redemption progress like Micchy did, but it's ultimately made much easier.]]

** He's also reminiscent of [[Series/KamenRiderGaim Micchy]]. Younger sidekick looking up to the hero as a BigBrotherMentor? Check. Really cares for the main heroine? Check. [[spoiler: Starts losing his marbles after the world stops conforming to his wants leading to a FaceHeelTurn? Yes, but he was faking that last part. Although if he weren't, he would have just been brainwashed. He ''did'' also believe it was for a good cause, and ultimately realizes the error of his ways after TheHero's apparent death, so there's still that.]]

** Episode 27 confirms this, when [[spoiler: Go reveals Professor Banno is his father, and he's trying to destroy the Roidmudes to atone for Banno's mistakes.]]

** His view of being a monster himself becomes even more odd when it becomes apparent just how much he ''hates'' Roidmudes.[[spoiler: Makes more sense since he's Banno's son.]]

* IronicEcho: When plagued by his inability to keep pace with Drive anymore, Go asks Rinna about creating an upgrade for him, which leads her to create a second Mach Driver by the time he cancels the request. [[spoiler: When Chase dies, Go takes the Chaser Signal Bike for himself, a Signal Bike that was created as a result of that very request, and thus gets the upgrade he asked for in a way that makes him not want it anymore.]]

** JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Despite his hatred, he has shown a little sympathy for 072 in #20 albeit temporarily, until [[spoiler: he snapped out of his BlackAndWhiteInsanity]].
* KnightOfCerebus: The Go from his first appearance compared to the Go from #28 are completely different beasts. [[spoiler: TheReveal of who Go's father is makes things much darker.]]

* MySisterIsOffLimits: Inverted in that he approves his sister getting together with Shinnosuke, much to the duo's annoyance. [[spoiler: ''Chase'', on the other hand...[[SubvertedTrope needed to save his life first before they were finally on speaking terms.]]]]

* YouAreWhatYouHate: Go's hatred and wrath and bigotry turn him into a stoic, serious man and opens the door to him being brainwashed into a grim hitman for the Roidmudes just like Chase used to be which Brain gleefully points out. Long story short, Gou's hatred turned him into the man who he hates the most. [[spoiler:Zig-zagged, as Go is revealed to be GoodAllAlong, but the toll his undercover work took on him caused him to become jaded and stoic; just like Chase]].

* FlawedPrototype: The Mach suit is supposed to be more powerful than Drive, but it is physically taxing on the wielder; Gou had a tendency to fall asleep after battles. This is likely due to Gou taking the Mach gear before it could be properly finished. This also happens in the sequel novel, with the prototype Mach Driver he takes [[spoiler:after all of the Core Driviar tech is sealed away in the finale]] to battle 005 [[TheWorfEffect crippling the powers]] of [[spoiler:Chaser Mach]]. It isn't until he restores the [[spoiler:Rhino Super Viral Core]] and uses that to access [[OneWingedAngel Super Dead Heat]] that he's able to fully control the prototype Driver.

* TimeStandsStill: Like others that are powered by Core Driviars (i.e. Roidmudes [[spoiler: and Drive]]), he can cause Density Shifts.
