Essentially a cult of Time Lords devoted to causing temporal paradoxes through voodoo. Following the events of their final encounter with the Eighth Doctor, they now exist in a separate timeline. They also fought Sutekh.

* {{Expy}}: Little Brother [[EdwardScissorhands Edward]] from ''Of The City of the Saved'' is essentially a clone of JohnnyDepp whose personality keeps wobbling between different characters the original has played. Also a {{Woobie}}.
* JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope: Compare the [[MagnificentBastard Faction Paradox]] of the earlier Eighth Doctor and stand-alone novels to the Gallifrey-raping {{Complete Monster}}s in ''The Ancestor Cell''. They barely seem like the same organisation.

* PowersAsPrograms: A strange sort-of-inversion in that the Faction makes extensive use of biodata (the importance of which was established in "The Deadly Assassin") in the "rituals" that fuel their technology.
* SkeletonsInTheCoatCloset: Their armor is carved from the bones of [[TimeParadox impossible]] creatures, as seen [[http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/armour.jpg here]].
* TimeyWimeyBall: They're doing their best to smash it into little bits.

!!Sabbath
A recurring [[BackFromTheDead (and how!)]] villain starting from ''The Adventuress of Henrietta Street''. He's a member of Faction Paradox, a [[MindScrew very strange]] sort of a voodoo cult which likes causing paradoxes, and was born in the 18th century.

* AlwaysABiggerFish - He manages to save the Doctor at one point in an unintentional and [[OrganTheft rather unconventional]] way.
* AntiVillain - A little more intentionally nasty than most, though.
* AuthorAvatar - He's basically LawrenceMiles's eviller, ballsier, tougher twin.
* BaldOfEvil - Well, okay, more like Extremely Close-Cropped Hair Of Evil.
* FoeYay - Well, kind of. [[PungeonMaster The Doctor]] mostly just thinks it's hilarious that Sabbath literally "stole his heart," but there is occasionally some legitimate sexual tension.
* DeadpanSnarker - Very deadpan.

* KavorkaMan - Apparently, everyone wants the evil fat guy with the bad haircut! Yeah, I don't get it either!

She comes from an alternate future where the Nazis won the second World War, a future that never happened thanks to a meddling alternate Doctor who convinced her to go back into the past to use the Seventh Doctor to figure out how the TARDIS, now in Nazi hands, worked. Abandoned by the Doctor just before WWII started, the Doctor later ran into her in 1950s Kenya and took her aboard the TARDIS...
