Akira even spends a significant amount of time staring at them, recoiling in shock at how stunning Satan's beauty is. Satan certainly has the power to back up the "steel" portion of the trope.

** The story also takes lengths to imply that if Ryo is Akira's false soulmate, than Miki is the more healthy, ideal partner for Akira. Miki understood that Akira still had a human heart, even if he had become a demon. In the Amon manga Akira nearly loses his soul to Amon, and Satan tries to prevent this takeover from happening, hugging him intimately. As soon as Miki walks in the room, Akira's hostile possession is cured instantly. In the Amon OVA, Satan uses her magic to awaken Akira so that he can fight back against Amon, but Satan's influence doesn't empower Akira to win against Amon. The memory of Miki's love allows Akira to cry again, getting him back in touch with his humanity, and he finally wins against Amon. In Devilman vs Hades, when Akira's soul is being taken over by Amon Miki's corpse is able to shock Akira back to consciousness. Miki's love for Akira is so powerful that her body comes back to life and comforts an unconscious Akira whose soul was in limbo thanks to Hades. Miki is Ryo's greatest obstacle to Akira's love, and Ryo is all too aware of it.

* OneManArmy: He is capable of slaughtering demons by the hundreds. Bes demonstrated during the Black Sabbath where he kills every demon possessing humans]].

The demon Akira possessed, Amon, is famous among demons as one of the most powerful demons of all time. Amon began life as a demon called the White Monster and was adopted by a tribe of Sirenes. After the tribe was mostly wiped out by t-rexes, he joined the united demon tribe formed by Satan alongside two other survivors: an albino known as the White Sirene and on who had lost her wings called Sheena. After learning of the legend of Deathless Amon from Kaim, the White Monster climbed Amon's ladder and challenged the legendary demon, eventually winning their battle and claiming Amin's power and name for himself.

* HeWhoFightsMonsters: A problem Akira is all too aware can happen to him, which is why he places so much emphasis on his identity as Devilman. Akira may have the body of a devil, but he aspires to retain his human heart at all costs. [[spoiler: The death of Miki and her family is where Akira loses his sense of purpose, since they were the last people he cared about after Ryo betrayed him.]] Afterward, Akira writes off humanity as a cruel and spiteful race, not worth defending; even though this makes all of his sacrifices in vain, but he's too angry to care. Akira then declares war on Satan, claiming that if he feels so strongly about his SocialDarwinist goals, then he'll gladly see which one of their two factions will survive -- it will either be devilmen or demons that inherit the Earth. Akira also wants this due to [[spoiler: Ryo/Satan's indirect hand in causing Miki's death]] and is content risking his life for the sake of revenge. The irony here is that Akira was afraid of losing his humanity to Amon's one sided, blood thirsty addiction to combat, but Akira effectively becomes Amon in all but name during the story's finale, having ultimately lost the internal struggle of maintaining his human heart.

* WhipItGood: In the Toei anime, he uses his belt as a makeshift whip.

* CruelAndUnusualDeath: How Devilman always kills him. Either by tearing off his shell on his back, fusing and overpowering his will, or smash the face in his underbelly, which incidentally releases the souls of those he's eaten to Heaven, and crushed by a large rock while as a small turtle in Hell.
