* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To Digit from the first film. Like Digit, Chula is the Big Bad's insectile sidekick -- but the similarities end there. Digit was Warren T. Rat's financial brains, unintelligble, and not physically violent. Chula, by contrast, is crude, vulgar, and has no problems getting his spider legs dirty.

* YouWillBeSpared: In ''Fievel Goes West'', Cat R. Waul, impressed by Tanya’s singing, places her under Miss Kitty’s tutelage to become a diva, intending to spare her from being eaten along with the other mice. In the climax, Tanya exploits this by placing '''herself''' on the giant mousetrap, causing Waul to hesitate long enough for the other mice to escape.

It's "Once IN a while".

** Warren's overall goal was to line his pockets and stay in power over the mouse populace of New York by having them pay him to dissuade the Mott Street Maulers from killing the mice, only to let the Maulers devour a mouse every once and a while to maintain his ProtectionRacket. Waul, on the other hand, had the more short-term goal of luring the mice away from New York with promises of a better life out West in order to dupe them into help building a saloon for his fellow felines and then [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness turn them into mouse burgers when they had fulfilled their purpose]].

* BewareTheSillyOnes: He may be a little goofy most of the time, but he’s fiercely loyal to the ones he loves. In the second movie, he thrashes Cat R. Waul’s gang when Tiger’s girlfriend Miss Kitty is threatened. This is significant because he initially struggled with Wily Burp’s training. Yet when his girlfriend is in danger, he does everything perfectly, including catching and throwing back a knife with his mouth, something Wily never even taught him.
