To keep the update system from overwriting Ash's memories of the whole misfile experience, and thus his love for Emily, he stuck random notes on sticky-notes all over the file, to confuse the system. Emily, for her part, is already doing better (and not dead) because of her misfile, so he just kept things with her as they have been.]]
