This line can easily be misheard as "[[Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica Homura]]", a character with whom Rei [[{{Expy}} shares a lot of traits]]; in fact "Home run" is one of Homura's {{Fan Nickname}}s.

* StuffedIntoTheFridge: Akane and Momo literally placed Kenjirou into a refrigerator after his mind is accidentally transferred into a stuffed animal leaving his body lifeless.

* FiveManBand: Following the formula in a typical {{Sentai}} show, the characters fit certain set of archetypes:
** TheHeroine: Akane.
** TheLancer: Wakaba, Aoi.
** TheBigGirl: Aoi, Wakaba.

* BeingGoodSucks: If Rei [[spoiler:does anything to contradicts The Crow's original mission to destroy the world]], the latter will not hesitate to inflict unbearable pain to her. She can ingratiate herself to The Crow by acting like a typical DarkMagicalGirl.

* SecretTestOfCharacter: The Alones were trying to see whether [[spoiler:the humans would kill Rei in order to save themselves. The Crow tells Akane and her friends that their decision to spare Rei was unexpected, but the trope is subverted when the Crow decides to destroy their universe anyways]].

** Episode twelve: The nature of the FinalBattle is also a ShoutOut to ''{{Xenogears}}''. [[spoiler:Only the main character can fight the FinalBoss, which holds the DamselInDistress in its massive body]].

* StockSoundEffects: By virtue of Creator/FizzSoundCreation providing the sound effects for this, many of the sound effects from the ''Franchise/BraveSeries'' can be heard in this show.

* {{Fanservice}}: Given that the studio who made Vividred Operation had previously worked on Anime/StrikeWitches, this is hardly a surprising element,

* SpiritualSuccessor: Sharing many thematic similarities to ''Anime/StrikeWitches'', this anime is another optimistic military-yarn about flying technological girls in short pants and unsurprisingly was written by the same author. The similarities extend to character dynamics between the protagonists, [[NiceGirl Akane]] and [[ShrinkingViolet Aoi]], which respectively mirrors the dynamics between Yoshika and Lynette.

* BruceWayneHeldHostage: An {{Anti Villain}}ous version is observed in the BeachEpisode: Kenjirou plots Rei as DamselInDistress in his ZanyScheme. Unfortunately for the scheme, Rei is able to promptly escape her captors.

* AnnoyingLaugh: Akane's laughter has a distinct pattern some may find grating.

* AbsentMindedProfessor: Kenjirou is a professor who had participated in the development of the Manifestation Engine and is shown to be a talented researcher who may forget family meals while involved on his projects. Following an accident, his body literally become absent of mind as his consciousness gets transferred into a doll.

* FiveManBand: Following the formula in a typical SuperSentai show, the characters fit certain set of archetypes:

* EarnYourHappyEnding:[[spoiler:After everything Rei went through, she gets her world back at the end of the series]].
* EasilyForgiven: Sad backstory aside, [[spoiler:Rei has helped Alone and through that aided them in killing hundreds if not thousands of humans. The military losses alone would have been apalling considering how many airplanes, ships and armored vehicles the Alone have destroyed. And nobody bats an eyelash about her previous actions. That said ,as showing Rei compassion was a critical part of the test on which the continued existence of the universe depended , it's for the best.]]
