Looney Toons: I have renamed this page after discovering the proper spelling of "Darrin".

//I think we should combine this with Sister Becky.

Darksasami: Actually, a lot more people know about this incident than know about the Becky swap on Roseanne. I submit that the Sister Becky entry should be replaced by one named after the Darren incident. For the sake of mnemonic transfer, though, it should be called Sargent York. :P

Happened to Space Commander Travis in Blake's 7. At the end of series 1, Stephen Greif (the original Travis) was injured playing squash. Whether due to this or to other complications, they brought in another actor (Brian Croucher) to play the part for series 2. Not only did his face, build and accent change, but his costume was different to the one Greif wore in season 1. However, the characters appeared to accept him as the same person.

Andyzero: Would Doctor Who count for this? They've just done it 10 times now, since the 60's. Marvelous little plot device that gave the series incredible longevity.

Ununnilium: Hm. Frankly, this trope seems to be two tropes mixed - one where the character's change in appearance is a plot point (under which Doctor Who would fall), and one where it isn't. Sister Becky seems to be the same way. I think The Other Darrin and Sister Becky need to be merged, and a new trope needs to be split off from there.

Morgan Wick: The former case, I think, has to be named after Doctor Who in some way. The latter case is the one that applies to both existing entries' namesakes.

BT The P: How about The Other Darrin as the main, Sister Becky as a redirects, and The Nth Doctor as the plot-centric recast? *LATER* I created The Nth Doctor, we just need to stabilize where each entry belongs. It seems that we've gone back and forth on this set of tropes a few times, let's see if we can get this one put to bed.

Gus: Good plan, by me. I suppose the material in Sister Becky needs to be merged with The Other Darrin.

Ununnilium: Works for me. ...how do you create a redirect again?

BT The P: Blank entry, with only text as redirect: The Other Darrin in double square brackets.

Janitor: What BB The P said: <redirect example was here>

Ununnilium: Merged and redirected!

RelMark: I removed the above example, since the redirect was working, even with the "ignore this" markup.

Daibhid C: Since I'm not familiar with the show I may be missing something, but the Titus example reads as though the character had several (step?)mothers, each played by a different actress, which is more of a Jonas Quinn. If this isn't the case, it needs rewritten.

Sikon: Took out the Oracle from The Matrix, as it's The Nth Doctor.

Kvn8907: We really need a better page name for this. "The Other Darrin" just isn't very memorable. I've never seen a full episode of Bewitched, and "Darrin" is a pretty unusual name. Can't we make it refer to some other example, or give it a more discriptive, genertic name like "Same Character, Different Actor"?

We have The Worst Witch twice: the last and 4th to last entries in Live-Action TV. Merge?

Daibhid C: Done. Also pulled this:

  • In the B&W seasons it was frequent for one or more actors to go on vacation for an episode or more. However, in the Second Doctor serial The Mind Robber, the actor playing Jamie fell ill, and the serial's storyline (regarding a fantasy world where anything can happen) was used to give us a single-episode The Other Darrin.

Applied Phlebotinum explanation = The Nth Doctor, right?
