(moved to Discussion for starting to ramble; surrender, duelist.)

Wiki: Can't remember who, but some dude found "humor" incorrect and made the "humour" split. For the record, I'm relatively sure that humor is the correct spelling, though to be honest, I'm pretty much going with Microsoft Word here.

Citizen: Well, going by "American" English, at least. ^^

Being X: what do americans have against the letter u? unless anybody can come up with a good reason, i see no reason to delete Hypocritical Humour...

Citizen: We'll see who's laughing when every entry has those damn unnecessary vowels. =O

Being X: me, because british grammar will finally win out!

Wiki: Ah. I see it now. Well the fact of the matter is "Humor" came first, and this town ain't big enough for the two of us. Coulnd't help it. Seriously I just edited the Showdown at High Noon entry. But still I feel for you. I cannot begin to tell you how much trouble spelling "color", "colour" has gotten me.

Being X: so we delete Hypocritical Humor

Wiki: Try again. ;)

HeartBurn Kid: Why don't we just make Hypocritical Humour a redirect? In the interest of appeasement and all.

Being X: how about we make Hypocritical Humor a redirect?

Wiki: Clearly someone isn't able to grasp the complex essence of the long-standing principality of first come, first serve. Oh, and Humour already is a redirect to Humor.

Being X: curse you buzz lightyear!!one!two!eleven!!1!1!

HeartBurn Kid: Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the guy being all King's-English-nazi can't seem to find the SHIFT key on his keyboard? </cheapshot>

Citizen: That, too, but let's play nice. :)

Big T: Added the British redirect back. I assume it got lost, as we're supposed to redirect that sort of thing.

Mister Six: Do we include pictures here? Anyway, this is no longer being used as it has been replaced by a smaller version: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lovebubbles.jpg

Fast Eddie: A practice hasn't developed yet for cutting pictures. Moving the link over to Discussion in a format as you have done here seems like it would preserve the effort of the OP.

Seth: This has actually been gnawing at me, all the old unused pictures being saved on the wiki. I was going to ask a while ago if it was possible to do a spring clean, but that would require FTP access. If you have a list of all the pictures Url's i would be more than happy to mark out all the unused ones and put them in a separate list for deletion. Also moving this to Cut List Discussion.

Fast Eddie: FTP ... FTP is kind of an issue. The last time we had FTP accounts, we got hammered with some pretty serious cracker attacks. It was unjoyful. None of the admins are full-time internet security experts, so we shut it down. Old pictures as disk-space usage hogs as an issue: No prob. Disk we got. We got disk coming out of our bottoms.

Bandwidth for transmitting those images? Watching it like a hawk tracks a mouse. A human-copy link like Mr. Six did does not get followed by google, yahoo, and their ilk, so the bandwidth for that "dead" image drops down to transmission only for humans who care enough to copy-and-paste. Since we are all about the humans, it all feels right.

Looney Toons: Removed Johnny The Homicidal Maniac because it's been revised, relocated and is apparently now a proper entry in the hearts and minds of at least a couple tropers.

Seth: Is that why Guess Who was banned, i didn't see anything wrong with it.

Looney Toons: I suspect it was just the final straw, as Guess Who had been making a few moronic edits here and there before that. Check out the history for The Catalogue (I think it was) for one example.

Seth: Do you just put the entry on the main page for it to me wiped.

Ununnilium: You do.

Fast Eddie: Figurehead Hero -vs- But Thou Must!: I call shenanigans. This is a games-vs-world thing which should be resolved in discussion.

Fast Eddie, some more: OK, Someone is up to some craptastic stuff. Figurehead Hero and But Thou Must! have different example lists. Homey does not play the redirect, when the examples ain't right. My shenanigans! call is out there, living large.

Fast Eddie: This ...

Figurehead Hero — Eviscerated to create its replacement, But Thou Must.

... suggest to me that there is unresolved discussion. The word "Eviscerated" makes me think there are some emotions out there that need to settle out...

Looney Toons: No, that was just me trying to be clever. But anyone who feels there are still unresolved issues feel free to speak up.

Seth: Does it matter? Either work.

Chrome Newfie: a minor disagreement to Susan Davis - I agree that "doujinshi" is the more commonly accepted spelling, but "dojinshi" is used as well, based on certain methods of transliteration. That said, thanks for the rewrite - I was going to do the same but couldn't get to it in a timely manner.

Gus: So ... which do I cut?

Ununnilium: Cut "dojinshi". >>v It's a spelling that you *can* use, but most people don't. (Spell My Name With An S style.)

Chrome Newfie: Googlewhack: dojinshi gets 152,000 hits, doujinshi gets 1,770,000. Wikipedia lists it as dōjinshi, which might lead to the o spelling. On that basis, I think there's cause for a redirect to doujinshi, for which I'm on board as the commonly accepted spelling. I won't even get into the various transliteration schemes that turn どうじんし into doujunshi, doojinshi, dōjinshi...

Gus: redirecting dojinshi to doujinshi, then.//later: Which LT already did.

Looney Toons: Sorry if I stepped on anyone's toes. But someone had edited Dojinshi and added material to it after the rename, and I wanted to keep the two from forking any further.

some settled items moved to the Bag of Holding

Morgan Wick: When are we going to remove the older entries? This list is getting very large and most of it is resolved already.

Janitor: done 19jul06

Morgan Wick: Okay, and when will it get done in the future? As it stands I suspect the list will become needlessly large again. Should <s>people</s> you move entries to the Bag of Holding yourself when deleting them?

Janitor: All good questions. Having them hang around in the Cut List after they are zapped seems to serve fairly well as a sort of action-specfic audit trail for whole entry deletions. The original intention of the Cut List was, I think, to highlight that an entry was about to go away so that any defenders would know it was time to marshall their forces. That particular use doesn't seem to be very necessary anymore, as that sort of discussion now takes place on the discussion page.

Ideally, there would be a facility that would allow anyone to delete an entry. One that would update the Bag of Holding, make an announcement of the deletion, and be reversable by anyone. I'll throw that on the wishlist, for the next time Gus can spare some bandwidth.

Kilyle: Excuse me, but what replaced these articles? "The following are all outmoded redirects: The Sudden Kiss, The Recurrer, The Man With No Nose, The Kobyashi Maru." I would like to know, at the least, what could possibly be more indicative of the Kobayashi Maru concept than the Kobayashi Maru (test designed to be unwinnable, to test character). Thank you.

Scientivore: The Kobyashi Maru was a misspelling of The Kobayashi Maru. Recurrer is still around, but I don't see why they'd bother deleting a sensible redirect to it. I don't know anything at all about the other two.

Sci Vo: Any particular reason why Breathless Non Sequitur was cut instead of the misspelled Breathless Nonsequitor that redirects to it?
Cassius335: Citizen, I realise The Pilosopher is no longer cut worthy, but why all the 'Strike' commands? Just move it to 'Done Items' and that's it.
Meta4: removed the following discussion from the main page:
Meta4: Immediately after adding Energy Weapons to the cut list, I realized that it had a lot more wicks than Energy Weapon.
Donomni: The list is starting to reach old Discontinuity sizes. I'm gonna start trimming some parts that have been resolved, such as the now-redlinked ones. After that, I'll wait for a go-ahead on the others. Obviously going to be put in the Old Discussions Retirement Home.

(Later): Blargh, more tommorrow, a bit late for me.

Antheia: Now what...? I added Ph Ds to the list, because that page was blank and caused by someone forgetting to use the Not-A-Wiki-Word formatting, and I'd seen a (blue) link to that page somewhere. But the link in my entry here came out red? (It Was Here, I Swear!...)

Cassy: Could I have the honour of knowing why my contributor page was cut? Great work, it created unamended red links all over the place. If something was deemed inappropriate on my page, could this troper not have modified it or "dropped me a line" in the discussion page?

Fighteer: Since we have an actual cutlist tool, can this page be removed from the wiki entirely, and have the markup code automatically redirect Cut List to the tool? Some people still apparently think that the proper way to cut a page is to redirect it here.
