Title Misinterpitation launched as I Thought It Meant: From YKTTW

Working Title: Title Misinterpitation: From YKTTW

cctoide - Anyone opposed to changing the top quote to the usual "You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means"? It seems a bit stilted as it is now...

Conqueso: To my eye, an ungrammatical comma looks more awkward than two terse sentences. If anything, change it to a semicolon.

Fire Walk: "The SPOON Stamp does not mean that an article is big, blue, heroic, and completely devoid of reason." That said, I have seen a few trope descriptions you could use that on...

Duckluck: You know, maybe a third of these just have really bad names. It's no wonder people get confused. I think I may be paying visits to the discussion pages for a few of these.

CodeMan38: The comment about With This Herring has me cracking up, because my brain wants to add "...I thee wed" to the end of that title every time it sees it. And this in spite of the fact that I've seen the Knights of Ni scene far too many times to count. (Of course, the fact that "herring" ends in "ring" only makes it even more of a subconscious reminder of wedding vows...)

Cassius335: ...You need to write that story.

Meanwhile, removed the Amanda Tapping thing from the Cherry Tapping. Really, who the hell makes that connection?

Silent Hunter: Me? It was brief, but it counts.

Sikon: Removed "nor is it about eyes" from Open the Iris because it is about eyes.

Sikon: "Neither does it have to do with a defective X-Box 360." <— I don't get it...

Big T: Whenever an X-Box 360 would have an huge error, it would flash it's ring-shaped lights three times. Since this usually meant you got a bad console, you usually couldn't fix it yourself. So it became known as the the "red ring of death". Which has nothing to do with the trope Rings of Death.

CAD: "Spin to Deflect Stuff is not another way of saying Do A Barrel Roll." - I thought it was. The page even has a picture...

Rissa: The picture's deceptive (see discussion on that page). Barrel Roll is about spinning your vehicle, Spin To Deflect Stuff is spinning your weapon.

Big T: I want to add Improbable-Weapon User, but I haven't figured out a clever way to talk about that yet. Putting it here as a reminder. (later) Did it. Hope it gets the point across.
Citizen: Added The World Ends With You, because I keep forgetting it's not a trope page, but I don't see any other actual media titles listed...

CodeMan38: Absolute Power is also a series title.

CodeMan38: And in reference to yet another misreading, I've actually seen a few DVDs that were, in a sense, Double Sub Versions (not to be confused with Double Subversions, naturally). Many of the Studio Ghibli DVDs, and older Funimation releases, have both dubtitles and more accurately translated subtitles (except for the ones that only have dubtitles, grr); and if I recall, Tezuka's Metropolis has two English subtitle tracks as well.
Meta4: Removed because the article in question has been retooled so now its Exactly What It Says on the Tin.

Cassius335:

...dammit, this is not the "what not to do on TV Tropes" page.

A Random Serf: Erm, I believe that entry was about shipping Made Of Win with Crowning Moment Of Awesome, not a description of the pairing.

Cassius335:

...What? What? What?

Conqueso: Blind Without (Auntie) Em.

Cassius335: Someone may want to have a quiet word with Master Hand about not putting "I'm" in trope examples. I've tried once, but it looks like he ignored me.

—-

Gentlemens Dame 883: Ethereal Mutation, I fail to see what you have against a nice Rickroll pun.

—-

1angelette: Say, maybe we could at least separate the series ITI Ms from the trope ITI Ms. Anything to make this huge article shorter.

—-

Umbee: I'd love, just love to add the following entry, but want to run it by everyone else first since it may seem like it's attacking the series in question:

  • So Bad Its Horrible is NOT an alternate title for Twilight or the Inheritance trilogy. No matter how much you think they deserve it.

Falcon Pain: I'd have to say no, but not solely for the reason you claim. The thing is, if you feel that way about the books in question, then that is exactly what the trope means.

—-

Ekron Dye: Did anyone else think that Prisoners Of Pollyanna was about a Love Freak kidnapping a Noble Demon or Ineffectual Loner and waiting for Stockholm Syndrome The Power of Love to change them?
