I'd give this one a solid 3/5. There's some good moments, but it felt more like an anthology horror film than a miniseries with a cohesive story arc. I'm sure some of the issues came from having to replace the actor playing the elderly Roderick part way through and having to reshoot, but that can't be blamed for everything.
One weak point that stood out to me was the moment where we're supposed to see the mask fall from Roderick's face and realize that, no, he's not just being ordered around by his sister, he's just as bad. Zack Gilford is not a bad actor, and he pulled off decent but highly flawed Riley Flynn really well in Midnight Mass. But Fot Ho U shows that he, like all actors, has his weak points. When Roderick announces he doesn't think he's has any limits in his pursuit of power, it's not a shocking turning point in how we, the audience, views the character. It mainly sounds like he's never given the issue any thought.
Series Not Flanagan's strongest
