So there's been some back and forth and the Unintentally Unsympathetic entry.
Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The revelation that Syd used her body-swapping powers to effectively rape her mother's boyfriend and her rather flimsy justifications for it make a previously sympathetic and likable character very much the opposite.
For my money, this isn't a good post for a couple of reasons. 1) it judges the show's justifications to be flimsy instead of demonstrating that the show's intentions were for the character to be sympathetic (which I would debate). 2) It brings up Rape in a way that i think is inflammatory in a way that isn't fitting for this plot development. I get that this is something of a matter of opinion, but I think it comes too close to criticizing the show instead of pointing out a trope that has occurred.
3) This is probably the most important, to most viewers (and from what I've seen, reviewers) Syd never stopped being sympathetic. She's flawed but this scene was made to demonstrate that and it did.
I talked to a moderator and they said that the constant back and forth on this entry counted as 'edit warring' and put a stop to it, but I wanted to make sure there was a post so that all sides could voice their opinions.
