Football: The Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions don't play each other on Thanksgiving, they just always play on the day. So there are two games, one with the Cowboys and one with the Lions. Suggested change: Instead of writing that America tunes in to watch the Cowboys beat up on the Lions, say that America watches the Cowboys win and the Lions (butt monkey) lose.
Why is there a Thanksgiving trope and a Thanksgiving Day trope?
