Could the Solars from the Exalted game be considered this? Eventually they slid into the Designated Hero role so hard that it resulted the Solars being murdered to a man. Given the legal/religious implications that killing the Solars had, not to mention the scale of the slaughter, it definately counted as a military coup/deposing of the old regime. But on an individual case I'd be inclined to include them in this because a lot of the people involved were their closest advisors and/or military personnel.
