  • At first, it seems odd that Joja Cola would restore such a miniscule amount of energy and health, considering it's a caffeinated beverage. However, it becomes clear why when you remember where the Farmer worked before becoming a farmer: Joja. They probably had instant access to the stuff at cheap prices when they were working there, hate the stuff, and with the two combined became practically immune to any of its physiological effects.

Why would it be odd? It's soda. It may give a little hyper-ness boost, but beyond that it has no nutritional value. You're meant to drink soda for pleasure, not for health benefits.

I think the main line of reasoning there is that a caffeinated beverage would be expected to provide an energy boost (or some kind of comparable buff; consuming an in-game cup of coffee provides a temporary boost to speed which is clearly meant to be an effect of the caffeine). Many people drink caffeinated sodas for that reason.
