Hana\\\'s parents started a plan that would make the Imagin lose their future to protect Hana, which made the Imagin be sent into the past. Even then, Koyomi and Hana are hardly \\\"rip-offs\\\" of Yui - the plot point of a character inspiring the whole conflict like Yui didn\\\'t start with her. Heck, Yuya is closer to Yui than Mai is, as his becoming an Invas and dying at Kota\\\'s hands allows the Armored Riders craze to come into effect; though the Armored Riders and Helheim\\\'s invasion would still happen with Yuya around as Gaim, Kouta\\\'s actions as Gaim sparked a great deal of the plot to happen that wouldn\\\'t should Yuya have lived.

How is Mai a rip-off of Yui from Ryuki? Yui was the entire cause of the conflict, and the whole plot was basically about how someone was going to morally dangerous lengths to save her. Yui and those similar to her had tragic events happen to them in the past that inspired action from people that were explored on-screen. Without those events or Yui (as demonstrated at the end of Ryuki) there wouldn\'t be the main conflict for the show.

Mai, on the other hand, is someone who was pulled into the conflict like everyone else, and was pulled in deeper due to her connections with those who came to be at the core of the plot. She ends up being someone important to the main plot, sure, but Mai\'s importance was granted at the tail end of the series, which affected everything retroactively. Yui and those similar to her had tragic events happen to them in the past that inspired action.

Helheim didn\\\'t come to Earth because of Mai, and if Mai wasn\\\'t a part of the series then it wouldn\\\'t change the fact that Helheim was invading.
