I was reading \\\"[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3571049/10/A-Square-Peg-in-a-Round-Hole A Square Peg in a Round Hole]]\\\" when I came across this passage.
----
->(Jake O\\\'Neill) could remember watching \\\"Peter Pan\\\" on HBO before, not that many years ago. He had been Jack at the time but he had already joined the SGC and Charlie had been dead long enough that the occasional day went by when he didn\\\'t mourn him anymore. But watching that movie, Jack had gotten horribly drunk and cried for Charlie just as he had in the early years.

->Now he remembered realizing how easy it would be to become Captain Hook. \\\'\\\'\\\'How easy it was to hate that smiling little boy who was so perfect at everything, could fly, and never ever had to grow up.\\\'\\\'\\\'
----
\\\'\\\'\\\'That\\\'\\\'\\\' is pretty much a perfect description of how Zuko sees Aang, right?
----
->But even at the end, the movie had acknowledged that Pan had his own tragedy. \\\'\\\'\\\'As happy as the boy was, as blessed and as carefree, he didn\\\'t have a mother and never would. Even the one he had found for himself had left him behind, taking with her all of his lost boys.\\\'\\\'\\\'
----
In canon, Aang grew up by the end, and became someone Katara could love as a spouse instead of a child. But in this milieu? With him constantly misunderstanding and stumbling and failing and being punished for it? Could being abandoned after saving the world from Ozai be his fate?

Should there be a new trope to hold all the \\\"threats concerning loved ones from potentially fantastical sources\\\"? UltimateHeroicFear, perhaps, because it \\\'\\\'is\\\'\\\' the one fear that every hero has. It might be related to AndYourLittleDogToo, but with the emphasis on the hero\\\'s reaction rather than the villain\\\'s evilness.
