Most of them are either Badass Normals wielding advanced (and often experimental) weapons/equipment and at most possessing CharlesAtlasSuperpower, or have derive their \\\"superpowers\\\" from \\\'\\\'technology\\\'\\\', e.g. PoweredArmor, Cyborg augmentation, or Nanomachines, though; only a handful possess more typical superpowers, like Psycho Mantis having PsychicPowers and Vulcan Raven being implied to possess \\\'\\\'genuine\\\'\\\' shaman magic (though he doesn\\\'t actually use it in his boss fight).

Oh, and MetalGearSolid3SnakeEater has the Cobra Unit, whose members, while \\\'\\\'not\\\'\\\' themed after snakes, do possess subtle motifs and/or powers related to other animals -- The Pain is bees and hornets, The Fear is spiders (due to his abnormal flexibility and WallCrawling) and chameleons (long surgically-forked tongue, has a stealth camo device), The End... okay, his theme is with \\\'\\\'plants\\\'\\\', not \\\'\\\'animals\\\'\\\'. The Fury, though, has no apparent AnimalMotif whatsoever, unless we take his PyroManiac tendencies and FireBreathingWeapon as a cue that he\\\'s themed after dragons. The last two, The Sorrow and The Joy, have no animal themes besides the latter\\\'s snake-shaped scar (ironic, giving that TheProtagonist is named Naked Snake, and she turns traitor early on and predictably has to fight against her).
