The ghost that keeps popping up in No Longer Human, would that count as PragmaticAdaptation as it didn\'t exist in the novel? At the same time, it wasn\'t necessary as the story is about Yozo\'s anguish and didn\'t need a semi-supernatural element reminding the viewers that he is miserable. Help please?

Definitely so. Silent Hill changes to reflect the inner turmoil of the protagonist, as do its inhabitants. Which would make it the Life Link kind, with hints of Physical Warping: the protagonists get randomly teleported into different dimensions or locations and have their clothes changed. The protagonist of SilentHillDownpour gets turned into a HumanoidAbomination monster, and back again, during the course of the story.
