Shouldn\'t this period extend further than the beginning of World War II? A good deal of classic Noir stories were written and set during the war and in the post war period. See for example, The Long Goodbye, and Double Indemnity. I would suggest moving the end of the period to 1959, the year Playback, Chsndler\'s last novel was published.
