What if the person who does the slapping actually doesn\'t want to have slapped the person or regretted it immediately afterward and attempts to apologize? What if they were genuinely upset by the fact that they had hit the person they were talking to? For example, with the argument between Darry and Ponyboy. During it Darry slaps Ponyboy and almost immediately starts to apologize before Ponyboy runs away. Or in Pay It Forward, practically the same thing between Trevor and his mother. At some point, Shiori shouts at her that she could never be her mother, stating \\\"I only have one mom!! And you\\\'re not her!!\\\" After a little while more, she finally slaps Shiori, looking, at the moment, very angry. Then she starts crying, heartbroken that she doesn\\\'t understand that she cares about her. Afterward, Seiji tells her that she does care about her, otherwise she wouldn\\\'t have cried or gotten angry. Would THAT count as a \\\"Why Did You Make Me Hit You\\\" moment, or would it be something else? I know the first two examples are probably something else entirely, but I\\\'m not sure about the LAST one.

I wasnt that offended about this, but I have seen less offencive things than this linked to UnfortunateImplications without igniting a whole storm.
