What she\\\'s doing is just super heating the dirt and sand to create Glass, best evident during her fight with Ruby at Beacon Tower, where she pulls out a canister and sprays it out, only to then have it materialize as Glass. Glass is typically made by super heating small sediments like sand or limestone after putting them in a mold, she\\\'s doing the same, just without the mold.
