I have to disagree with Unskilled But Strong for Yang. Mainly because it is a disturbing habit in the RWBY fandom for people to see stereotypes as opposed to what is actually happening, and many \\\"critics\\\" do not actually know the difference between wild swinging and actual punches.
For instance \\\"she was entirely too reliant on raw strength, fighting like The Berserker and not defending herself properly,\\\"
Yang did not fight as a \\\"Berserker\\\" as a Berserker is categorized by avoiding any form of defense. Something that does NOT apply to Yang. Rewatch her fights. Hell, rewatch the fights where she has the most focus on using her Semblance, such as Yellow Trailer and the fight with Mercury. In both fights, when activating her Semblance she uses the Dempsey Roll (a extremely technical technique, not wild punching, and a far more accurate to real life version than the one in that other anime), she dodges and blocks 3 attacks each time. If she were a Berserker as claimed, she would just takes those hits to continue to power her Semblance. But she doesn\\\'t.
This entire argument is built on stereotypes and not on evidence in the series. Losing to someone designed explicitly to hard counter you is not a sign of being unskilled. Being put in a no win situation where you\\\'re partner is lying there, possibly paralyzed and bleeding out from all the evidence Yang had at the time, and acting on the split second instinct that all humans not extensively trained for have is not being \\\"unskilled.\\\"
