Regarding the \\\"Who watches the watchers\\\" episode of TNG: That was not anti-religious as such, it was Picard being personally disgusted by the idea that he should play the role of those people\\\'s god. This is very much in keeping with his humanist philosophy and not against his prior or subsequent characterisation at all. I don\\\'t think any person with a moral compass would be comfortable with the idea of impersonating a god in order to hoodwink a less developed people, even with the best of intentions, and more religious people would even consider it blasphemous.
