As I stopped reading midway through season 1, I may be wrong about this, but I got the impresion that this transition also included a transition towards plot arcs that flow together like those of a TV series, rather than the previous model of having semi-standalone plots like those of a movie or book series; hence the adoption of the

I think it\'s fairly reasonable to regard \'\'Thanks for the Fox\'\' and \'\'Who Writes This?\'\' as standalone fics, but I\'m not sure whether it makes sense to separate \'\'Season 1\'\' and \'\'Season 2.\'\'
