I believe it's much darker, not necessarily in terms of Premise, but because Sun/Moon are much more ''explicit'' than the vast majority of other entries. The dark dex entries actually get mentoined in the story, the Final Boss's [[spoiler: OneWingedAngel ransformation]] , the repeatedly mentoined parental abuse that takes center stage... with the exception of Red/Blue's mentoining of Marowak getting killed, none of the ''main series'' entries get anywhere near as dark. The Mystery Dungeon games do, but they are their own side-series and even they [[NeverSayDie abstain]] from mentoining
