openNo Title Literature
A fantasy novel I read in the 90's, in which the hero, who I think was a blacksmith's apprentice or something, joins what I recall to be a band of soldiers, one of whom is Asian (or its fantasy counterpart) and teaches him reiki. All I remember beyond that is one scene where the hero blunders, gets beaten for it, and the Asian guy checks him out and tells him he might keep his teeth if he uses reiki on his face every day.
Edited by CivanfanopenNature series about trying to find the best animal Live Action TV
I remember getting 2 videos out of the library 6-12 years ago about trying to figure out the best or most interesting animals (I think it was in the title) of a certain area. One video was about Russia, the other was some place in North America (maybe the US). After every animal, a dot was added to the map of the area they were in. At the end, they showed the most interesting animal. The Russian one turned out to be the saiga, and the other turned out to be the California condor. The map turned into a sort-of connect-the-dots picture of the animal, and the last minute was just music playing over pictures of the animal. If I remember correctly, the narrators were a man and a woman who went back and forth, though I could be confusing this with Fooled By Nature (a show on Animal Planet with a man and a woman). Any idea what these videos were? I may well find it on World Cat, but maybe you remember these videos.
openTwo BBC 'arena' programmes Live Action TV
The first one was very similar to Robot Wars, but instead of RC robots controlled by teams, it was CGI fighters controlled by one person at each side of the arena. There was a game of it on the PS 2 as well which I remember owning at some point.
The Second one was a CBBC show, again about CGI. But it was monsters that looked like they were made in a basic modeling program (I think they were actually) made by teams of kids, and the monsters automatically attempted to do challenges or beat others. It was set in a lab with all the kids in lab coats There was a downloadable kit you could get of the shows site that was the same one the teams in the show used and do the challenges yourself in it. Both were on around the same time in the early - mid 2000s I think.

openUK Comedy, I think about doctors
I used to watch this when I lived abroad in Europe and it was dubbed (horribly). One episode involved a young doctor invited to a party, someone passed him a CD case with drugs on it and the stupid bubbling idiot (his character) didn't know there were drugs, so he just turned the case over to see what the album was. It's been bothering me for 13 years.
openUK mini-series from the 80's? Set in Scotland about IRA Live Action TV
For years I have been trying to remember the name of this show. There was a woman with an idle unpopular son. (They may have moved from Ireland.) She goes to work at a fish cannery in a small port town in Scotland. The show is about the women who work in the factory, their terrible boss, and the IRA. At the end her son takes the blame for some minor IRA action he had no part in, maybe against the boss, and the townspeople cheer and put him on their shoulders. It probably was about 5 hours, several episodes. The boss was someone who reminded me of Bob Hoskins, but don't think it was him. Anyone know this show? Thanks!
openUK comedy show with German beach bum Live Action TV
Wanted to add this to a recently-created trope page but can't find anything matching my memory online. UK sketch comedy show, probably from the 90s, that had a recurring character who was a stereotypical German body-building beach bum. He may have been a lifesaver but spent most of his time boasting about how good his body was and how he was constantly having sex with British girls. One of his catchphrases was boasting about how much time he spent "verkink ouuuuuuuuut" (with heavy German accent). I remember him as a Harry Enfield or Paul Whitehouse character, but can't find any record of either of them doing it.

openmovie about a man a a woman who kinda wante to have a plataonic marriage Film
does anyone know the name of a movie about a guy who was divorced because his wife couldn't stand the fact he didn't want to have sex with her, and then he like falls in love with a teacher after he hears her talking with her students about how romantic love wasn't real but an invention of recnt times? and then they get married but he can't have sex with her either, and at first she thinks it's fine, that they can be happy only talking and spending time together but then her mother/friend (i don't remember) convince her that thats not right so she leaves him, but then he goes and puts a song in the radio for her in front of her appartment and they get back together?
I think they from the start decided to have a relationship without romance, but the woman didn't know it was also going to be a relationship without sex, in one part the were having a dinner and he got drunk, and the woman tried to romance him into bed, I dunno if he got drunk so it would be easier, but in the end it didn't work and he asked her to stop wich hurt her feelings
openOld Sci Fi movie clip from 09/05/13 David Letterman Show Film
In an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch about Star Trek Into Darkness, David Letterman plays a clip of some unknown old black and white sci fi movie (maybe Japanese) where the hero fights three mooks (who look somewhat like Robby the Robot), hitting two of them with a mid-air split kick. Does anyone know what movie that clip is from?

Edited by TroperFromItalyopenCartoon Or Anime Anime
So a few years back I watched this anime or cartoon and I really enjoyed it I can't really remember its name but I remember parts of the first episode: A boy wakes up and gets ready for a race he is having for school or a club or something and he has a special stone its very small around the size of a pen lid...during the race it starts glowing he blacks out and appears in another world he meets a boy and a girl which both have weird creature pet things, one was a rhino who could control vines and nature ( I think ) and the other animal I have no memory of but the main character, the boy he has his own which is summoned through the stone and its a wolf-like creature with blue and white fur... and this is all I remember.
Please can you help me find this cartoon or anime its driving me insane trying to think of its name
Edited by VoodoosanopenGuide to Unicorns, Dragons, and Monsters? Literature
When I was younger, there were these three books I had, each were dedicated to specific topics (one was on unicorns, one was on monsters, and one was on dragons) These were NOT the dragonology, vampirology, etc. books, they were smaller, thinner, and paperback.
They all featured their topics from myths and lore, literature, and film. The way they were set up was the left page had "practical" information on it (the backstory, the size, powers, location etc). While the right was dedicated to art of the thing. I believe they were published by Scholastic, as I got it out of a school catalog, from maybe 2008-2012. I can't find them anywhere, any ideas?
openDoing this for a friend
Its a show that was on netflix a while ago, about the rapture and some kid is the antichrist with the horsemen and angel. I know this is super vague so any guess is appreciated (:
openThis is gonna be a hard one!
My mother is trying to remember an old TV show, she said we used to watch together when I was little. She thinks from the late 70's or early 80's. She said its about 2 young girls, maybe 9 years old or so who are best friends. One is black and one is white (note: it is NOT the show "Any Day Now" or Palmerstown USA). It is set in the country (like The Waltons), in approximately the 40's. She said she thinks the little white girls father may have been a sheriff. She said it was not on for every long, maybe a year or so. I'm convinced she dreamed it..because I've searched the internet with a fine tooth comb and I haven't found it! Hopefully you TV buffs can help.
openTwo shows in the 2000s Live Action TV
The first show was about a special school that kidnapped kids with super powers, the main character was a male that could get premonitions of the future, another character could mimic other peoples (voices?) handwriting by watching them write. The main plot point was that the huge plant wall keeping them in was a hologram and the AI becomes their friend before becoming replaced
The second show was like warehouse 13 but it was based around a highschool, i remember one episode where they were trying to contain a saddlebag from the pony express. I think the main character was a world traveller
openExample for WhatTheFuAreYouDoing/'eyelid kung fu Film
The fim (Asian, color, dubbed into English) starts off with a guy doing what a narrator calls 'cooking kung fu' around a bunch of pots with stuff cooking in them. Later in the film., the guy's silly friend says he does exercise also and starts winking and blinking. The hero asks "What's that?", the friend replies "Eyelid kung fu!", and the hero answers "That's not kung fu!" That's SILLY!".
openTv Show in 2000s Western Animation

openCan't remember name Western Animation
I remember watching a show several years ago where the characters would battle each other as these avatars that they would collect. They would choose who they wanted to use and then an arena. It was all virtual and I think the main characters main avatar guy was green.
A kid goes on an adventure on his bike, cut by some sort of interview that happens between scenes.
Turns out the kid's in a psych ward the whole time and the doctors are trying to access this traumatic memory that he's blocked out and every time they get close he relapses and loses all his memories and they have to start over.
