openAnime with angels + demons...? Anime
I'm trying to find the name of a show I watched in anime club some time ago (probably 2012-2013)...I remember that the main character was an angel who mainly dressed in white with small wings (I think they got bigger when she was fighting, but that might be my memory getting mixed up). Her companion was some sort of demon boy who (I think) was shirtless most of the time. All I remember from the episode(s) I saw was that it started with the angel girl at the bottom of some sort of large pit/hole in the ground, partially buried by rubble, and she was dug out by the demon boy. Later on, there was a scene with another, older demon guy who was a Christian for some reason, and they were making fun of him because of it. The older demon guy wanted the angel girl's powers or something, too, and at the end of the episode he fell into some sort of chasm (?) while the main characters walked away. Thanks for any ideas of what this might be!
openOld anime with talking animals Anime
It's a thing I actually never saw, except for a particular scene used sometimes on 4Chan as a reaction pic. From the looks it seems an anime from the 70's, and shows this cartoony-looking bear saying he's getting angry and then he reveals that he is actually a more realistic bear in a costume.
openI've been searching for months... Please help! Anime
I am beginning to think I just imagined this movie up as I haven't been able to find a single trace of it. I know that it was animated. I believe it was either 90's or early 2000's. So what I remember is that the "hero" of this movie was a golden robot that looked sort of like a man. He had a human-face and had straight white-ish hair. I remember that the two characters were just leaving a subway, and they witnessed these dogs attacking people and there were these creatures that started attacking people as well. I also remember the golden robot guy being able to turn into a jet and flying up to a giant spaceship that was hovering over the city. It was an animated movie. I hope someone can help me! I've been searching for too long of a time for this movie.
Edited by RichardWilhelmopenSome Japanese anime film with the word Mermaid in the title Anime
I remember the word Mermaid was in the title because that was why I wanted to rent it at Blockbuster when I was a little kid. My mom was pretty dubious about this movie, but I thought all cartoons were for kids and got it. What I remember was that the main girl fell off of a cliff into the ocean at one point after tripping over a kitten and supposedly died, then some people were tending to her body in their house. She was naked, and there was a bowl of water that this puppy was drinking from by her and it turned into blood or something. At this point, my mom made me leave and she finished watching the movie herself (she's Korean and likes anime). I just wanted to find out what the heck this movie was.
openWintery Anime Death Scene Anime
I have a dim memory of a few minutes of an anime from the early 2000's. There was a character, possibly a child or young teenager, being hunted because of their anomalous powers, where they could manipulate ice, to some extent, but their lack of control made them a danger to others. Eventually, the person in question is cornered outside in the snow and darkness, leaving a few seconds of tense silence, before a gory discretion shot cuts to a sillhouette or shadowed shot, the sound of ice impaling flesh is heard, and blood splatters across the snow.
Some cursory searching keeps pointing me to s-CRY-ed but I can't definitely find anything in the show that resembles this scene. I believe I saw it on Adult Swim back in the day.
openAuto racing dubbed in english during the 90s Anime
Sometime around the early 90s, I watched a show that I'm convinced was a dub of an anime but have never been able to figure out which it was due to the Anglicized names of basically everything and everyone and running for quite a short time, so as far as I know, none of it survived to reach the Internet. It was about auto racing, but it was newer than Speed Racer and I'm almost positive it was not Cyber Formula or any of its derivatives. It involved professionals and racing teams (this wasn't Initial D either, in other words). Time has faded my memory of the cars involved but I know they either reminded me of Lamborghinis or open wheel (Formula 1 style) cars - no weird gadgets or flying. I know it aired on either The Family Channel, YTV or Disney (yeah right) because I could only watch those channels when I was on vacation with my family near the beach. I also seem to remember one of the antagonists being "Team Ruth(less?)". Any help here would be hot!
openAnime about a girl and a pendant... Anime
...but it's NOT Castle in the Sky. All I remember about the show was watching it in the early 90's...there was a young girl who had some sort of silver, pointy, star shaped pendant and was on some sort of mission. She was going south and that was a apparently a big deal. I distinctly remember a scene where the girl was lost and noticed the sun setting and said to (herself? Possible male companion?) "If the sun sets in the west....(turns) then this direction is south!"
And then the only other thing I remember is the end where she is at the top of a tower and the bad guy/woman wants her pendant because it has power.
I know it sound a lot like Castle in the Sky, but it's not :)
Edited by Award11openA trailer... Anime
I was watching an old VHS of an anime OVA called Gestalt. There are a few trailers before the main feature, and one of them was incredibly funny, but I can't figure out what it's from. It never gives the title of the show. It's a Super Sentai/ Power Rangers-like show, with color-coded heroes in the typical type of suits, but it has a gag dub. I've checked everything under anime on the gag dub trope page, and it's not there. The trailer cold-opens with a guy saying "Girls really seem to love a man in spandex" and continues with that tone. Other lines include "She's one OVA short of a series" and "Sheena, get in the vortex!" I really want to know what this show is, it looks awesome!
Edited by AronatiaopenLate 60s/early 70s anime, dubbed into Spanish Anime
I'm looking for the English and original titles for two anime I used to watch in Peru in about 1972-75, dubbed into Spanish. The first featured a handsome hero who traveled a magical world in the company of an old professor-type and an anthropomorphic dog who wore clothes and a pince-nez. They were constantly fighting against a mace-bearing villain who looked like a traditional Japanese ogre and whose sidekick was an anthropomorphic cat. One important element: The hero was armed with a knife that, when drawn, turned into a full-length straight longsword.
The other show featured a professor with two kids, boy and girl (there may have been more characters in the central group) in a modern urban setting. They were constantly fighting a villain with four eyes and catlike ears who was permanently embedded in some sort of columnar structure (never saw his body below the waist) and had a huge army and lots of fancy tech at his disposal. Whenever said villain was about to win (near the end of every episode), the little girl would clasp her hands and pray for help ... whereupon there would appear a golden bat, soon followed by, I'm not making this up, a skeletal Grim Reaper, except with a gold-topped cane instead of a scythe, wearing a big cape; it would then do away with the entire army of henchmen. This show used to freak me out on a regular basis, but like a traffic accident, it was hard to look away!
Thanks very much to all the anime experts out there.
Edited by werewifeopenKid in space forming letters with his body Anime
I've tried to dig this up online a few times over the years and never actually found it, but this snapshot memory has bugged me for a long time. Years ago, probably pre-2000, definitely pre-2005, I ran across this scene on TV, and part of me thinks it was Digimon or another kids' anime, but it may have been a western show.
The scene was pretty surreal, with a blank black or space/stars background, and there was a boy floating around reciting the alphabet while his body contorted into each letter. His voice was flat and echoed a little bit, like a dream sequence or other kind of abstract scene. I believe the other characters needed to wake him up or save him, like he was entranced or possessed by something, but I can't be sure. Anyone else remember this?
openUK Broadcast Anime/cartoon late 90s/early00's Japanese High school Anime
This has been bugging me for a number of years. I have been through lists on Wikipedia of all BBC/CITV shows to no avail. I watched a anime or cartoon, based in a Japanese high school (or just general Chinese high school etc) about monsters being trapped in books or in some book shape item. The teen protagonists in this show would release and capture demons/monsters inside these books. In an episode someone accidentally releases one of these monsters from a book hidden in a library, in another episode one is released during a marathon the pupils are taking through residential streets in what I'm assuming Japan. In another episode they capture a teacher from the school who turns out to be one of these monsters.
This show was shown in afternoons in weekdays on what I guessed was ITV or BBC 1/2 (back when there was just the five channels on TV) but I have not been able to find anything and I have searched pretty long and hard. This makes me think the show was not very popular or successful and never garnered enough attention to have made it to be properly talked about or documented online like the majority of other random cartoons on TV. I am really not sure what else to add but man this has been bugging me really bad.
I saw the page for it on tvtropes, and I think that the brother had to protect the sister either because of some powers of hers or others, or from this forest. Maybe they were orphans. I only read the front page of the tvtropes cover.
