I hate them because I didn't know what they were called until last year. I always called them squigglies, and when I found out they had a name I couldn't in good conscience call them squigglies anymore. It's a shame.

Found this threat by searching whether tildes was listed as a Trope. It should have it's own page, since I see it quite a bit in RPG dialogue and manga speech.
