Nah, he isn't leaving due to change in leadership. It's just that his character design for a new female character in Mega Man Legend 3 came in last place.
Seriously though, this sucks. He's been with Capcom almost from the very beginning, and has worked on every Mega Man game EVER. I hope this doesn't hamper the creation of Legends 3.
Sounds like a creative mind tired of bullshit:

I love where he says he's leaving partly because he's a "strange dude" and "not normal".
SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND!

Jonah FalconShocked? Hell no, given his petulant recent comments.
And I, personally, hope this will mean a breath of life for the Mega Man franchise now that the fossilized grip of the king of nostalgia is gone. But then I also liked X series more the less he had to do with it, so there you go. ;P
Of course, what makes that statement even more funny are the people wailing and poormouthing in the comments on the news post, especially that ohnoes, what will happen to X series? Inafune hasn't given a damn about X series since X3 or 4 at best. What fcuking odds now? Hell, now maybe we can escape the blight of IHX/MHX and get down to our own bloody cliffhanger.
Give that it's a different team, so far as I know, handling the new Legends game I really don't understand the panic and gnashing of teeth from that quarter either

I don't even know what to say...I know he recently expressed some dislike for his job and said the Japanese game industry was over, but I never expected this. I can only imagine what'll happen now. Regardless, I wish him the best in whatever new career he chooses, and thank him for the twenty-three years of joy he brought to gamers everywhere.
Giygas for president!!"King of nostalgia"? If you mean that he's kept the series stagnating innovation-wise, remember that he was behind Megaman Legends, perhaps the biggest change in formula in the franchise. Not that I don't respect your opinion.
Needs a new signature...King of nostalgia?
last i checked, every time Inafune has wanted to do something innovative, Capcom has told him "go make moar megamans for xbawx amd ps3 dlc"

Give me cute or give me...something?Why do you think Shinji Mikami Quit with capcom along with Hideki Kamiya and Atsushi Inaba, and when Goichi Suda worked on Killer7, he left afterwards?

Watch SymphogearSo the Capcom execs = new Bobby Kotick? Or is it the other way around?

Give me cute or give me...something?Its a problem with japanese devs in general. many of them feel that japanese developer companies are extremely limiting their development freedom and its causing japanese games to stagnate horrendously.
For a good example, look at final fantasy 14. Despite the huge advances even in japanese/korean grindy mmos in design, they went with a design practically identical to ff11. And got absolutely savaged for such a backwards design decision.
More than a few people speculate this is because they didnt even bother trying (or werent allowed) to innovate on the design at all.

Yeah, I did remember talking about that a bit in one of the old thread...
Still, I wonder what will this means to Capcom though...
Give me cute or give me...something?One of my internet friends is adamant he was fired, saying it's part of Japanese culture to say you quit when you're fired. D:
The Protomen enhanced my life.On one hand, he made a lot of good games and helped to bring back Street Fighter and Megaman into the public consciousness.
On the other, his obsession with the western gaming industry and making everything exactly like they do would have ran Capcom into the ground in five years.
Not sure what to think about this, unless (I'm hoping) this is a bid for him to go independent and make all of the Fallout-starring-Zero games that he wants.
Kinda sad that the creator of my favourite series is leaving...ah well, perhaps he's getting too old and started getting cynical about the area he works in.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."I wonder what this means for the Megaman series...
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!^^ What series is that?
Umbran Climax◊Mega Man and Rock Man of course.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."He didn't create that series, he started off as its artist and was the Producer of many of the games after MM 3.
Umbran Climax◊^ Yeah, but he's become the most famous person associated with Mega Man. I don't even know who actually created the character, but Inafune has been there for every game, so it's practically become his own idea child.
Eh, I get all those annoying terms mixxed up anyways, so I don't pay too much attention in that part. Creator, producer, director, etc.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."I suspect he probably was fired, given his recent comments would get a lot of people fired.
But seriously, imagine if he made the jump to American developers. Imagine how awesome that could be!
^^ Producers are financial advisors, basically.

Umbran Climax◊What they can't get rid of him, can they? With Universe, an MMO, and Megaman Legends, the series seemed be going so strongly, does Capcom really going to do the series without him?
