He is a generally disliked character.

Teddie is probably the only Persona 4 character who I consider to be worse than his Persona 5 counterpart in every conceivable way.

This song needs more love.

Hell Morgana is a generally likable character.

It’s only when you bring in Ryuji is when he becomes fucking annoying.

And he spends so much time picking on Ryujji and its generaly not enjoyable.

Unlike when Teddie did it to Yosuke, but I still preferred Yosuke to the bearskin rug.

I like Yosuke. I feel the Arena games not having any controversial wacky-anime-hijinks help his image a lot. Same with Chie and Yukiko. Teddie is still going too far into the 'lovable' pervert category, though.

To be fair, Metis doesn't exist as a separate entity anymore. Labrys is still her own character with. Speaking of which, the new PQ 2 game doesn't feature her either, right?

Should probably add a reminder that not scoring high on popularity polls is not an indicator that a character is disliked.

This is because popularity polls usually only ask you who you're number one favorite character is. This means a low-ranking character just has fewer people who like them most out of the entire cast, not that they're without fans.

Well I can tell you Yosuke got number 1 as Japan has always really loved him. Followed by Yu and Chie.

Like, it went from "Game of the year" to "trash" over two years lmao.

The vocal hatedom that hated it when it came out us still hates it while the majority of people who enjoyed it but didn't had particular attachement to the series moved on to something else.

I mean I don't like it nearly as much now as I did when I first played it. Its flaws became more glaring on a second playthrough.

I was never the biggest fan of the game in the first place, its got a lot of style and such but it was just lacking compared to P4.

The only thing P4 has over 5 is maybe story and characters (debatable) and music. Gameplay-wise it is a much better game.

I prefer P5 over all the previous games in all aspects, myself.

Overall Story, comedy, social links, characters, character designs, music, setting, translation, pronunciations and a lot more.

P5 has better style and dungeons but that's about it, and the latter is heavily marred by a horrible and ill fitting final dungeon.

Not sure how fighting a YHVH rip off is ill fitting in a series that spun off the series YHVH originated from.

The dungeon, it goes from really thematic and expansive dungeons with stealth elements to drab generic dungeons which remove all the elements of stealth.

The game basically lost all elements of originality it had.

Think Yumil has a point that most of the people who loved the game have either moved on or don't feel the need to gush anymore.

So all that's left are the vocal minority of people who don't like it for various reasons.

I still love it. It definitely isn't perfect by any means and has a lot of things I heavily disliked but I can't say it's any worse the last two entries.

IMO it's the most fun Persona game to actually play. My main criticisms with it lie in the writing, which honestly isn't that much worse than most JRPG's that come out these days anyways.

Its writing issues aren't any worse than 4's, so I don't understand how people say one is better than the other.

It's a preference thing for me. The 4's issues don't bug me nearly as much as 5's.

4 is old & is generally what people started with so their forgiving.

5 is brand new & next gen alongside having a long release so that comes with more expectations.
