Samus: ...Almost makes me wonder just how many people I've met that I've lost contact with over the years, now. Might be close to the dozens by now.

Ryan: How are you handling Samantha not...being around?

-Samus has a neutral expression but looks at her glass thoughtfully-

Samus: ...You know, I admit I miss her more than I thought I would. Not because I'm not used to her doing her own things, but she's usually a call away over the communications...now it's nearly radio silence. Kind of like a lot of my old co-workers right now.

Abandoned Airway

As Mitch hopped into the Chadmobile's back seat he looked at Cheri. They appeared to be a small black rabbit, riding a well-baked pink doughnut. Their voice held a subtle synthesized undertone to it. This, combined with the fact their mouth didn't move when they spoke and their eyes seemed to morph into something Mitch had seen in anime (and in places that worked like anime), seemed to indicate it was a hologram of some type. And he felt a little better because it existed. Just a little, as though there were some aura of joy around him. Mitch caught that increase in mood, then decided to ride with it.

Mitch himself waved. He was clad in a geometrically complex◊, stark-white suit of armor, albeit one beaten and dented and weathered by long years of use. That was how he appeared physically, at least. Empathically? The man was a rock. Not a wall - there was a difference. He was as calm as the desert around him, yet underneath that was a will forged in steel and tempered in what felt like a long history of battle. The man in front of Cheri was more than just a warrior. He was a fighter.

"There's a new friend," Mitch noted to Kaiji, as he felt the Chadmobile jerk under him and heard the Shagohod clone start up again. "They're a rabbit. I think we're heading back to Vegas, and I'm not seeing any new Trials. Might wanna follow us with the tank. Ren'll want it back." Then he paid attention to Cheri. "Nice to meet you in person. Sorry about being a little impolite when you first started chatting on the radio, but..." He turned his head to indicate the scraptank behind him. "I was a little preoccupied."

Mitch stood up, his helmet retracting back into the armor to reveal a face about as grizzled and weathered as the battle armor he wore. "Scott Mitchell. Nice to meet you. You are?"

Ryan: -Sighs- Everyone's drifting away.

Samus: Primarily from a lack of work, but yeah. Sometimes it's rather depressing to think about. Like without any mercenary work, most everyone didn't have a reason to be here.

Ryan: Duo is talking about retiring.

Samus: Retiring? Like, entirely?

Ryan: Yeah. He was one of my best friends here.

Samus: Damn...what's he going to do now, though? Did he say?

Ryan: He didn't, no. I think losing Kerebos deeply affected him.

Samus: A shame...he definitely has a mechanical aptitude most people wish they would have. I think a lot of people were affected by it, to be honest.

Ryan: -Steps away from the piano and gets a booth- So....why don't we start again?

-Samus sits in the booth-

Samus: Start again?

Ryan: The company.

Samus: A company the size we had takes a lot of money. Most of the bills are still being paid off. But...if we manage to get out from under all those bills...

Ryan: Why not start small?

Samus: Like, how small? Local? Or just small scale?

Ryan: Why not start local for now? Do you still have Sonia's number?

Samus: I do. There's not many lawyers who want to talk to Kerberos at all, so I've made sure to hold firmly onto her card.

Ryan: Maybe she can draft contracts.

Samus: Hmmmm...maybe. I'd need to see who's still on board with this kind of enterprise, though. Because we're going to need to scale back quite a bit to start.

Ryan: Maybe we can put Serenity in like

a shuttle.

Samus: Hmmmm...there's a thought.

Would she complain though? I imagine she might be unhappy about having to change bodies.

Ryan: She absolutely would.
