The book was okay, but it felt like it existed just to get everyone to book 3.

I find the implications of Olujime's existence interesting.

I honestly completely forgot that the Apollo books were even going to be a thing. Now that I know... I'm not terribly interested. Aside from Percy and Anabeth's half of House of Hades, Heroes of Olympus was a big step down from Percy Jackson. I can't imagine a book series focusing on Apollo would be any better since he's not any of the people I care about.

Can someone who read it give me a basic rundown of what happens? Just a one or two paragraph summary is fine.

Trials of Apollo is actually a pretty significant step up from Heroes of Olympus while having a unique format that lets it stand apart from the rest of Rick's series. Rather than each book revolving around a country spanning (Though in the case of HoO it was global.) quest each book so far has been set in one central location that they have to defend while carrying out a specific goal at the same time.

The basic premise is that Zeus is punishing Apollo by turning him human. Not even a halfblood demigod but pure human. Apollo decides he has to fulfill some sort of task to regain his godhood and sets out for Camp Halfblood. Upon arrival he discovers that campers have been going missing as well as that communications between Halfbloods have stopped working and that nobody can go on quest because nobody is able to receive prophecies either. Over the course of The Hidden Oracle it's revealed that the different oracles have been taken over and that three Roman Emperors have survived into modern times and have been manipulating things from behind the scenes even as far back as before the original series. Apollo manages to free one of the five oracles before setting off to find and free the next one with the help of Leo and Calypso.

Six weeks pass and the trio end up in Indianapolis. Upon arrival they are nearly killed until they're saved by some former Hunters of Artemis who take them to the base of operations for this book, the Waystation. They realize that the second of the three emperors is planning on renaming the city in three days but not before killing a bunch of people. Apollo and Calypso set out to rescue some Gryphons before the group sets out to find a throne that they need to use the next oracle. After nearly being killed by the new emporer the group is split up. Apollo and a new character to the series set out to find the second oracle and free it. Apollo ends up having to destroy the oracle but they do get a new prophecy. They discover that they have to enter the labyrinth again and Leo and Calypso decide to stay behind but they do recruit Grover to guide them through the labyrith while Leo goes off alone to deliver a message to Camp Jupiter because the villains are planning on attacking them in five days. The book ends there.

Huh. That actually sounds kinda neat. Most important question: What are Percy and Anabeth up to?

Percy is playing Taxi Service for Apollo to Camp Half-Blood, but stays a side character for the first book.

Anabeth is busy with her cousin from the Horned Helm side of the family

Oh yeah, I forgot that was also a thing.

Man, Percy and Anabeth just have no luck, huh? They've barely gotten a chance to spend any time together since becoming a couple.

Heroes of Olympus is reasonable, the first book is very bad but House of Hades actually is the best book of the series even than the Percy Jackson series .

I brought Blood of Olympus right when it came out, but I somehow never got around to reading it until a few weeks ago.

I was also pretty disappointed in it.

I also read the first Trials of Apollo book that same week. And I enjoyed that a lot more than Bo O.

So I'd definitely recommend giving the new series a shot.

I mean, unless those in the thread who have read book 2 says it sucks. I have not read that yet, so it's always a possibility.

Read the third Apollo book, why I never cared that much for Jason, it does suck a little to see him killed off.
