H.B. Ward...Why is Will Arnett hosting?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh my god I said the same thing in my Discord server earlier today and just about did a fucking spitblood take just now, priceless!
Yeah it's pretty bad, but hopefully the rhetorical question will sustain us through humour.
I was more worried about.... like, everything else, just about. It was like Hi-Five meets YouTube Nation meets Star Wars Holiday Special.

H.B. WardI recall there was once a mod that basically restricted the player's initial buildable/interactable area and the player had slowly perform certain actions to expand that area.
What's the name of that mod?
EDIT: Nvm, I think I found it. It is called Captive Minecraft.

Good luck to the Captive Minecraft devs to get a sequel working in 1.12...
H.B. WardHey all, I'm wondering: is there currently an active vanilla server for Tropers to be free? Because me and a pal are running a Minecraft server with a population of Yours truly and the aforementioned pal, and we'd love to have you.
Shoot me a Private Message, and I'll gladly add you to the Whitelist. For full disclosure, here's the list of plugins employed (I very deliberately set it up so if you want to live full vanilla you can).
Smart Spawn, TPA, and Simple Homes. Simply put, if you don't feel like meandering back to your home after a fruitful mining trip, you can set a home with /sethome and teleport there with /home. Additionally, visit spawn whenever you want with /spawn. TPA allows for players to request/accept teleportation to each other with /tpa [player] and /tpaccept. Note that there's no option to teleport directly back so be sure it's what you want.
Vault, Simple Economy, Mob Hunting, and Sign Shop. A rudimentary economy allowing players to set up stores using chests and signs, with a monetary system. Money is earned by commerce or by killing mobs. Credit to my friend for tying it to a gold standard (seriously).
Lockette Pro so players can lock chests, simply because I feel that's something that should be in default Minecraft.
inb4 "that's not actually vanilla". let me stress that if you don't want to participate in any of these plugins you do not have to.
The map name is "Hermann" and the seed is "Basic Economics" I hope to receive a PM from you soon!

This too shall pass. This topic's been dead for yonks, hasn't it?
Well, I've been inspired by my son and his friend to get back into a bit more creative/admin stuff, and I've discovered that 1.12 added functions! The power of these cannot be overstated. Combined with /execute for conditional execution, you can replace whole chains of command blocks with at most one or two, offloading all the sequential stuff to text files stored in your world folder.
I feel like there ought to be more execution blocks in functions, but I guess you can simulate that by nesting functions inside /execute and writing lots of them.
I have an interesting technical question about spawn points on a server. It goes a bit like this:
- I've built a spawn area consisting of a large, windowed bedrock cube high above the ground.
- New players entering the server will be set to adventure mode, and the world spawn point is set within the cube.
- The cube contains signs with instructions and a button that executes a function to outfit them with basic gear, switch them to Survival mode, teleport them to ground level (a fenced-off, mob-free area), and set their spawn point there.
If I read the Minecraft wiki article correctly, since the server is not set to adventure mode, new players will always spawn on the topmost block near world spawn, even if that block is transparent. But I want the spawn box I built not to get rain inside it. Glass wouldn't work, but could I put fence or sign blocks up there to stop precipitation and not have players spawn on top of them?
I'd rather not move the whole thing so far up that it is above the rain top, even though I guess you can do that sort of thing with commands. If I set the server to default to adventure mode, that won't affect any players that are forced to survival, and it should fix the spawn issue, right?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I think Jasper Boerstra is picking and choosing which Twitter users give him feedback on the textures he's lobbying for, and the overall type of feedback on the Beta Textures in a lot of places is NOT all-inclusive. People who see the texture pack the way I do (bad and unfitting) keep being dismissed as "whiny, irreverent kids", and it's really wrong and frustrating. Mojang's starting to not take people seriously no matter what age, because of an old Minecraft Stereotype. It's very harmful, because sometimes complaints are very valid, and now nobody knows the difference between a good complaint and a bad one.
Either way, I'll have my 1.12 and 1.0 textures with me. I've already made a custom bring-it-back pack. To make it even nicer, I've even included an expansion that I can turn on or off that contains the old iron block from Beta and the old Alpha cobblestone and mossy cobblestone.
H.B. WardThe first snap shot for 1.13 is out.
New Blocks: Prismarine blocks have slabs and stairs. There are underwater plants. You can stip the bark off of longs, and craft dried kelps blocks.
Mobs: Turtles are now in. You breed them with fish. Zombies hate them for some reason, and will stomp their eggs and kill the baby turtles. Phantoms are also in. They target players that haven't slept in a while. They don't despawn of peaceful but can't do damage.
Also Large spuce trees create podzol at their base, so that's farmable now.
Who doesn't know about the ancient rivalry between zombies and turtles? I mean, seriously. /sarcasm
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I mean it makes sense that something goes after them, but zombies were clearly picked for lack of an actually good option. Wolfs could go after them to, but they're not common enough or in enough biomes for it to be just them.
Playing with commands remains hilarious.
/execute @e[type=creeper,c=10] ~ ~ ~ summon lightning_bolt

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"From what I had heard, I thought zombies were in good terms with turtles.
One of the enchantments for tridents allows you to do that very easily without commands.
Seriously, my avatar comes from the embodiment of the So Bad, It's Good trope. Will this make it easier to finally get severed mob heads?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! Is there somewhere other than minecraftforums.net to talk about Minecraft? I kind of want to get back into Minecraft, but when I went to log in there to get an idea of what's going on (after a very long absence) I got a message stating that I had to have a Twitch account to log in! I'm not creating an account for something I've never used or had any interest in just to access a site I already have an account with.
There's places like Reddit, but you're pretty much going to have to make an account somewhere to discuss it.
Looking forward to some aquatic content.

Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*Was an adequate answer ever given for why villagers can't defend themselves? The golems are really bad at their jobs.
This too shall pass. You're right, they are. For the most part, when I go to a village there isn't even an iron golem there. Villages are broken as far as building codes and safety regulation goes. Dumbass villagers can't even stay in their homes when it's Normal difficulty.
There's currently a thread on the Minecraft Suggestions subreddit discussing all this.
H.B. WardThey also all just huddle into one house over time, even if you keep the village safe.
Honestly I don't bother with actual villages anymore when it comes to trading. I just kidnap a pair of Villagers, put them in a breeding pit, and just make a bunch of market stalls staffed by one of each type.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I had a problem on my server, actually (open to all tropers btw, PM me and I'll add you to the whitelist) where in my custom village, they all congregated on one hilltop. We're talking about a village covering most of a sizeable island and they all stayed in one spot. I tried spawning them on the other side and they migrated there. It's the weirdest thing.
And yes, I've seen them walk into zombies. They're not well-done AIs.
This too shall pass. For some reason over time they start all preferring the same house, which then becomes a self-perpetuating problem because as they all cram into one house, they start excommunicating the unused houses from the village, until eventually there really only IS one house in the Village.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
Well, I can't login to Minecraft and changing my password doesn't work.
Glad we have to be constantly online and logged into everything.
