Too narrow? Rename? Split?: Beta Test Baddie

The trope is about villains who have an inferiority complex, says so in the Laconic description anyway. However the title makes it sound like they were a prototype or science experiment gone bad. The main title is even Beta Test Baddie, which reinforces this impression. The description does say that the inferiority complex can be symbolized by a literal deficiency but doesn't have to be, so is the title too narrow?

I also think that if the trope were renamed to something more general ("Villainous Inferiority Complex" or something) it would be more memorable and used more.

Judging by the examples, the trope seems to be used for 'villain who wants to be complete' and/or 'clone who wants to surpass the original' more than it does for the more general 'villain with inferiority complex'. The trope description suggests the former two should be a subcategories of the latter, but the more general form is less represented.

Supporting a name change; Villainous Inferiority Complex seems fine.

Bump.

Anyone else got an opinion on this?

C'mon guys, nobody cares about this? .__.

I do think there needs to be more opinions heard before we can go ahead and do anything with this...

Chill out, it's only been a day.

Looking over the description, the trope is clearly referring to characters who have an inferiority complex because they've been replaced by (or are a replacement for) something. That's where the "beta test" part comes in — they are (or think they are) the flawed, inital version, to be replaced with the "real" version once it comes along. So it's definitely not just about villains with inferiority complexes, it's a specific subset of that.

And it's got 86 wicks, so I'd say it's doing fine.

So the examples about inferiority complexes in general should be moved to a different trope? And the laconic description should be fixed? It really wasn't that clear to me that their inferiority complex came from being replaced by someone else, that should probably be clarified. Or broadened.

I don't see any really out of place examples on the page (though someone with better understanding of the various source materials might be able to say otherwise), but the laconic definition could use some tweaking, yeah.

Yeah, the the complex seems to be part of it, but they have it for a specific reason. It's because they're the beta version of some sort of power and some other person is them, but a better them. I don't think it should be renamed. The proposed name is far more general than the trope actually is.

Examples list just needs cleaning out, then. Some of them just look like normal jealousy to me.

I haven't been able to find any bad examples. Or any that are just them feeling sorry for themselves.
