So lore discussion, in terms of power levels, where do you guys think Summoner ranks compared to other classes?

Well now that they'll be able to summon actual primals, pretty high

It does say a lot that the Ascians are actively trying to stop SMN WOL from getting stronger.

Now this sort of a comparison between Primals and Ascians. It is interesting that even Lahabrea who was like the head of concepts and impressed Emet-Selch with his creations, was amazed at Bahamut’s sheer power.

I'm not sure any job is supposed to be particularly stronger then any other one lore wise.

SMN and Dragoon are probably the strongest of the bunch, especially now. SAM, WHM, BLM and PLD are up there.

WHM and BLM especially since we are using banned magic and notably powerful at it.

For Black Mage IIRC Shattoto explicitly acknowledges how powerful the WoL is

If it counts, a lot of crafter NP Cs mention how the WOL picks up very quickly while others take years to master their craft.

[up][up][up] It IS canon that Dragoon WOL channels Nidhogg's power, and both they and Estinien are stronger after exposure to Nidhogg's aether.

I know itll be rendered obsolete as soon as I get to Stormblood, but I'm comitted to finishing my Anima weapon before going there. For BLM, is there any reason to not max Spell Speed and Crit and just call it a day?

The only reason now to do any weapon relic chains is if you like the glamour. You can buy a better weapon for 500 poetics as soon as you hit the level cap for the expansion.

It's been fun.

yeah custom stats for relic weapons for previous expansions are kinda pointless

I dont really care about that. I consider building a relic to be part of the endgame of each part of the game.

You're a page and a half late but I'll assume you're talking about my post here:

i know that, but ShB didnt have any job-specific quests except for a single one after you beat the MSQ which is why I had that initial assumption

I meant from level 70-80 (aka: the ShB levels) there are no job quests, which is why i assumed sage and reaper wouldn't either

So, I'll likely get some flak for this given my previously expressed opinions, but... is it just me, or are Zenos and Nhaza'a Jaab from the Allied Beast Tribe quests basically the same? They're both too strong and bored of it, both want "excitement" and "thrills" from an evenly matched opponent, etc., etc.

Speak for yourself, I'm hyped for our next match.

A scythe vs scythe battle is going to be fun.

If the theories are right, and we have a sort of enemy mine with Zenos, the reactions are going to be hilarious.

No, you don't end up fighting him (it's your Beast Tribe allies who get rid of him each time). I just think it's remarkable how the big bad of the upcoming expansion has already been done... in a manner with a bit more pizazz, even. Jaab is a racist jerk, but he has a bit more worldliness and more class than Zenos.

[up]If that happens, I'll be rolling my eyes through the credits of Endwalker instead of crying my way through.

[up] TBF though, the execution is also an important factor when it comes to writing archetypes.

Like for example, Elidibus and Illberd come off as very similar once you strip the cosmic scale from the former. Yet are still distinct characters.

There's also the section of the fanbase who see Zenos as just a babbling lunatic who gets off murder like Kefka, even though that's not actually his character at all.

Honestly the best part about Nhaza'a is that the first time you see him in a quest chain he's always naked.

What about Lyon? Dude's allergic to a shirt.

And he also gives off Zenos vibes. Like it's really easy to lump in fight hungry characters without checking what actually motivates their characters.

And if your concern is over samey villains, look at Emet-Selch and Elidibus, they came right after the other, and have basically the same motivations yet they still are distinct.

It helps that Emet-Selch and Elidibus had actual internal worlds, though. And honestly, no, I find Lyon about as engaging as I do Zenos. He's just another punch-happy fight guy; the only difference is he actually puts effort into being an Imperial shill, unlike Zenos. The most intriguing character point Lyon ever had was adopting the Lalafell beast trainer girl, and that happened offscreen.

Not saying Lyon is compelling at all. I'm just making it a point that archetypes can easily be lumped together, but what separates them is their individual character, and motivations.

I just vibe well with Zenos's disorders and appreciate having a recurring personal nemesis. I can't find that in an allied beast quest one shot villain.

So I've finally showed my guest part of the Eden raids, specifically the first 2 parts, skipping to where Gaia shows up, and gives deranged dating sim gamer teenage girl thoughts on Gaia and Ryne.

Thancred: "Carries Gaia's luggage against his will"

Guest: Oh I like her already. The outfit is very striking and shows her personality quite well. The dark colors and leathery look suggest a moody and guarded person perhaps a traumatic past that Ryne has to help her get through? The outfit is also well made and intricate, so she must come from luxury, perhaps her parents from Eulmore didn't love her? Her past use of darkness, armor as well as unique magic with intricate symbols suggest she has a connection to Asshole Ghosts. Time magic has been Nabriales's gimmick and Zodiark's name has been used to invoke it.

Me:....Nomura has a certain style to his art.

Guest: So Gaia is drawn by a guest artist right? Same guy as Kingdom hearts?

Me: And some Final Fantasy games yes.

Guest: I felt something like that, firstly, her name is Gaia, it stands out from the rest of the cast because the name is after a thing, as opposed to names like Thancred, Urianger, Minfilia, this also gives her a similarity to Ryne whose name means blessing. Additionally, Gaia's face is quite different from other characters, with much more excessive makeup and a face structure that has interesting proportions this suggests that the usual art team had to adapt to a different art style.

Me: She has big lips basi-

Guest: SHUT UP ASSHOLE! Don't be judgmental.

Me: I'm not, she just has. I mean look at them.

Guest: Moving on, this creates a very interesting contrast with Ryne, who is learning to assert herself and has escaped from an abusive past. Ryne's kind heart may be what lets her bond with Gaia who most likely hasn't experienced kindness, only superficial spoiling from rich parents who otherwise viewed her as a pawn?

Me: We aren't even at the second set of raids and you are already trying to guess the plot and dynamic with Ryne?

Guest: See in Otome games, it's always a good idea to take notes on potential options and deduce their intentions and virtue. Otherwise you might pick a serial killer.

Me: What the fu-
