It fits more to not have a fire theme when despite their angelicness the Sin Eaters have a Greek motif like the Ascians. So Mt. Gulg is more a heavenly flying Olympus than a volcano.

So how do you propose to reach a mountain that's several malms above the ground and not get obliterated by the army of Sin Eaters protecting it?

I have for the first time reached level 50, and I'm surprised that immediately upon getting to that level, you're given a full set of powerful armor, and further surprised that this set of armor immediately makes the breastplate you receive as a reward for the final job quest completely useless. It's like... Why even give it. You'll only use it to put it on.

At the level cap you always get a set of armor from your class/role quests that is meant to get you started in the the post xpac areas.

As you progress you will get new gear to replace it from the raids or tombstones, as the xpac progresses tombstone gear will get easier to get and will get better. By the end of an xpac the stuff is bought with poetics aka the depreciated tombstone.

The class set though is unique in its look and every class that was around for that xpac gets one themed for their class. It can be upgraded to dyeable and gain ilevels in different ways depending on the xpac, ARR I think its allied seals?

[up][up]

Back in the olden days you only got the quested set and the other you had to earn at level cap.

But given level cap is not 50 anymore they let you skip that grind now and just hand you both sets

Off the top of my head: teleportation shenanigans? Being very, very sneaky? Just blow the thing up from really far away? The good old Fastball Special? Or maybe shoot at it with really big harpoons and ride ropes down?

Granted, most of those are unlikely to work, but still, it struck me as funny that we immediately went from "It's floating and it's too defended to approach by airship, what do we do?" to "Let's build a golem the size of a mountain".

Kind of, yeah - but teleportation is very hard. Emet-Selch could maybe do it, but why would he directly assist them? And Y'shtola's method is forbidden magic that kills you.

It's been fun.

The tech on The First is also extremely limited, all their technology revolves around Magicked up Stone.

They do not have engines or anything like that. An elevator literally only runs by Golems turning a crank and a trolley is pulled by a Golem... I suspect their airships do the same.

the Ronkans seem to have been more advanced but also we dont have much understanding of their tech, likely cuz nobody has tried reviving it.

Eulmore has an airship fleet, too, which they don't really get into the origins of as far as I'm aware.

Obviously invissible giant talos.

Likely they have Talos inside winding cranks to power the ship.

Ronkan tech was stone as well, they imbued it with the elements though.

Considering they are all the same planet split apart, i'd assume Ceruleum exists, considering it's a natural resource. I'd imagine the Apocalypse would put a damper on mining activities.

ceruleum is just liquefied aether, so I;d imagine unless the laws of magic work entirely differently on the shards, that it exists.

Well what I meant was... With the way the world's Aether is screwed up thanks to the Light imbalance, who knows? We know that Aether doesn't move during a light imbalance so any liquefied Aether likely solidified long ago.

I find it funny that the first's version of Ishgard, was apparently a Xaela kingdom, considering Branden's princess was a Xaela, and the evil court mage was also a Xaela.

doubly ironic since as you learn during the DRK questline, on the source, some of the Xaela did come to ishgard and were prompt;ly harassed and persecuted because their dragon-like heritage instantly got them branded as heretics.

[up] Yes, that is why i considered it ironic. Wonder if Elf discrimination was a thing in II mheg.

Speaking off, how much Drahn Lore do we have? From what i can tell, Drahn in the First are relatively civilized, and considering the fact that they had their own kingdom, could be considered an upper-tier race, in contrast to the source, where they are apparently the most discriminated race.

Only Ishgard really were racists vs Au Ra, they are just fine literally everywhere else. If you are referring to the Domans too, no, that was just anti-refugee sentiment and the bulk of the actual refugees were Hyur.

I said apparently because it's mostly an informed attribute. Aside from Ishgard, and the White Mage villain who doesn't even name who oppressed her clan, there really isn't much discrimination of Au Ra aside from what the Devs say.

Everything in the game is scaled down in terms of scope for the sake of not making the game engine cry, so I'd assume any form of racism and such would be under the same rule. Basically, pretend it's there.
