I blame tvtropes for me still reading this. I only became aware of Sinfest around 2010 because I found its' entry (and the trope picture) under "You Are Worth Hell" interesting. If not for this and the story of Lil'E, I would have stopped following it long ago. I don't suppose their is a site that only collects the strips dealing with both storylines?

Theory in the Discord is that he's going to retire the fembots because he suddenly realized that literally every TERF talking point against trans women can be attributed to the fembots.

Hypocrisy and inconsistency haven't stopped him before, I don't see a reason for it to stop him now.

What else is he going to do with the fembots? The revolution was complete on their end, wasn't it?

Well, the Pimp-drone is not too far off the mark in terms of personality. She'll gladly cater to women in hopes of swaying you to their cause, but if you happen to be a man, then you're nothing more than a noxious, mindless undead creature who deserves nothing less than to be smacked down at every possible moment. And then she'll have the nerve to complain that there are no males allies.

Say, wasn't Absinthe supposed to have pitchfork duty at the Pit? What happened to that?

And wasn't the Pimp trying to climb out of the Pit the last time we saw him? What happened to that?

(I think it's possible that Tats aborted that arc because several of us predicted that he would emerge from the Pit on Easter Sunday. "He is risen.")

Interesting. Tats doesn't like to be called a SWERF, even if it describes his beliefs exactly. Why don't radical feminists like this term? I've seen similar reactions to the term TERF. Tats prefers "gender critical".

This must mean that deep down he knows his beliefs are seen as hate speech by most people. It's like holocaust deniers caliing themselves "historical revisionists".

I'm curious to see what kind of mental gymnastics are going to occur at this point to show that being a SWERF isn't a bad thing. At least that's what I think he's going to be going for.

Isn't the definition of a Swerf a person who disempowers prostitutes by making them criminals, makes it legally more dangerous for them to work safely, doesn't listen to them (unless they've repented) and generally treats them like scum?

In what way are people like Xanthe or Tats working to give women a way out of the lives Tats so readily condemns? Criminalisation and endangerment seem to be their goto answers

It's easier than that. A SWERF is a "Sex Worker Exclusive Radical Feminist", just like TERF just means "Trans Exclusive Radical Feminist".

SWERFs believe that women can't engage in voluntary acts of sex work. Sex work is by its very definition seen as degrading. All sex work leads to exploitation and should be condemned as something vile. Consensual sex work is impossible and people who believe this should be possible are seen as abusers of women. There is no line between sex work and trafficking of women, the very act of paying for sex is a patriarchal tool to keep women down by dominating them through financial means. Basically, all sex workers are either gender traitors or victims of the patriarchy.

More modern feminists (if we narrow this discussion down to just different kinds of feminism) believe that women can choose to do with their bodies what they want to. Sex work isn't inherently immoral if the prostitutes in question can do their work openly, by their own choice, under their own terms and under full protection of the law. They DO recognize the problems with trafficking, but also argue that in a world where prostitution would be decriminalized and prostitutes would receive protection from the law, sex work should solely be the choice of consenting adults.

The most disgusting thing about it all is that SWERFs KNOW their views are seen as backwards and actively harmful by most others. So they try to disguise their beliefs by calling SWERF a slur and using words like "prostitution abolitionist" or hiding their ideas behind bullshit like the Nordic model, where prostitution isn't criminalized but the very act of purchasing (or even FACILITATING, in the broadest sense of the word) the services of one is. "You can choose to be a prostitute if you want, but you can't open a bank account, rent a space or even openly receive customers, but it's still your body your choice! ".

Meanwhile it has been repeatedly shown that it does NOTHING to improve the lives of sex workers since they are forced into illegality and obscurity, but that doesn't stop assholes like Tats claiming it to be a viable alternative for full decriminalization of prostitution. But don't you go calling them SWERF, "Nordic model proponent" sounds so much better!

Tats has been openly doing the same in regard to transsexuals by not wanting to describe himself as a TERF, but as "gender critical". It's trying to hide bigotry behind new words, nothing more.

Remember everyone: TERF and SWERF aren't slurs, they are 100% descriptive of what someone believes and should be openly and consistently applied to the people who don't want to see them themselves described by it.

Consistency is not in his vocabulary these days.

The comic has become so self-referential and recondite, piling metaphors on top of allegories, that new readers won't have a clue about what's going on. Even some of his long-time worshippers don't have a clue about what's going on.

it's plausible that Tats has become so deeply enmeshed in radfem dogma that he doesn't care whether outsiders understand it. Or he might be losing it; SF and fantasy fans joke about the Brain Eater attacking their favorite authors, but it's a real phenomenon. Or he might be catering to the whims of another person, a radfem who is giving him instructions for the comic that he dares not disobey. Or something else, who knows?
