@firewriter: We saw her starting to break in yesterday, so either that comment was in very bad faith or I'm afraid you are starting to lose object permanence.

Yeah, that's in pretty bad faith. She doesn't need to be in EVERY comic to be involved in the story.

Gotta say, I wasn't expecting him to get as blatent as he's about to. Theres no walking this back either, although he can abort it. Either we're about to see Girl Camp, a forced brainwashing facility ala MK-Ultra where bad men are forced to become transgender agents for the patriarchy, OR he's going to chicken out and have Fanboy be rescued in transit, so he never actually has to SHOW his TERF views explicitly, but leaves the implication there.

And that's what's important to understand about the narrative structure. Miko is now in a holding pattern, and can swoop in and rescue Fanboy whenever Tats needs her to. He can show as much as he feels safe showing, and has his abort button narratively set up. So the question now is how long until he slams the button? I'm guessing as soon as his Patrons drop.

Miko is apparently psychotic, since she hallucinates people as zombies.

Y'know kid, the zombies only appear when you have the goggles on. Perhaps they aren't showing you the truth, but what The Sisterhood WANT you to think is the truth! Ever think about that?!

Of course not. If the person who made this thing actually thought for a moment, we probably wouldn't be in this mess, and we wouldn't have hit 1,000 pages yet.

New comics up. Mostly just filler. Interesting to see though that the male staff are Johnbies when Miko is present. I know the whole "eye of the beholder" dynamic was present when they first appeared, but ever since then Johnbies have been depicted as such regardless of any observer, to the point where I honestly hadn't expected it.

Honestly it just reminds me of what a flawed and beaten dead horse the whole concept is. It really diminishes the ability to write even somewhat enjoyable villains when they are litteraly written in a mocking dullard voice whenever the hero is present. The boy-catchers have been much more sinister bad guys in her absence because they are depicted as regular people with free will and thier own motives. Switching over to the tired depiction of them as mindless zombies strips them of any agency and makes thier presence much less intimidating.

I'm aware of course that dehumanizing men and depicting any opposing view point as mindless zombie groaning is the obviouse point of the metaphor of course. And it works in certain narrative circumstances. But if I where tats and wanted to push a Rad Fem message, I absolutely would not use the metaphor here because here it doesn't work. The Boy-Catchers are active agents of evil, not mindless supporters. You don't want to depict them as mindless zombies because it removes any culpability for thier actions as well. They become just another creature following thier instinct, evil in a sense, but not really possible to hate on a personal level. Quite goofy in fact. No, the Boy-Catchers should always be depicted as human. They aren't zombies, they are the people who MAKE the zombies. They are aware of the nature of what they do, aware of thier actions, and that makes them sinister, menacing and evil.

In summary, the zombie metaphor should be saved for hapless citizens, people who are mysoginists through no direct effort of thier own. People who are involved with the creation and maintenance of the systems of opression should maintain Thier humanity, and thus agency and malicious sister intent. At least, that's how ID do it if I where writing Rad Fem propoganda.😉

Sorry for the long post.

Very true about the zombies losing their validity as a credible threat. It would make more sense that the patriarchy blockers would let you see those subjected to the patriarchy as devils. If the patriarchy is evil and ran by Satan himself, they should be devils masquerading as humans. That alone would make the comic much more consistent.

What happened is Tat used Johnbies to mock his own audience and you can't really just sweep that under a rug. You could keep the Johnbies in there, but if you are portraying them as an easily controlled mindless force, you have to show instances of them being controlled. In fact, Tat kind of makes it look like Devil Tech is barely able to control them unless via convenient game restarting ass pull. The patriarchy can't control the patriarchy yet can control the matriarchy?

Tat let his critics get to him and that should never should have happened. As bad as Sinfest was before the Johnbies, it at least had consistency - no. I can't finish that sentence. It's utterly untrue.

Just do it all over, man. You lost your cool and let your lore get off the rails to attack your audience. You probably read these things thinking you would never let anyone's opinions affect you, but they clearly do.

Even if there's a good plot in this mess, it is still connected with a lazy and ill-constructed world. You really should just reboot.

I just came to talk about how horrible Sinfest is.

Tats is about to shoot himself in the foot. Why? Well, let's say that Miko jumps out and uses her blade to murder the quck out of the "Gender Zombies". All good, innit? Nope. Guess who does NOT have Patriarchy Blockers, and therefore sees a young girl murdering the quck out of two absolutely normal people? You got it. Theo is gonna reject the quck out of Miko for being a dangerous psychopath.

...either that, or Tats will do the asspull to end all asspulls and nothing will happen. As usual.

It won't be a very big asspull. This is all part of another game simulation. Theo might be a participant in a multi-player game, or he might be a custom NPC in Miko's single-player game.

Kevin probably is an NPC. I have a suspicion that Kevin is a redshirt, and he'll be used as a Horrifying Example of ... of ... of whatever the hell it is that Tats is trying to prove.

It would have made more sense ... if Tats had done it years ago. But he's gradually turned all of the female devils into sympathetic characters, and as a result they are no longer particularly evil. (Why the frak is Absinthe a devil girl at all?!) So Tats can't say "devil = evil" any more.

One problem is that Tats' philosophy of plot development is "Ready! Fire! Aim!" He gets an idea, he runs with it, he gets stuck with the consequences and corollaries.

The zombies haven't meant anything for a long time now. Tats is just using the zombies as a spray can full of insta-dehumanize.

Tats has always thought he was better at writing than he really is. Another facet of his writing has always been his sheer laziness.

Just look at the comic. What bullshit are the zombies moaning about? What the hell are "gender zombies" supposed to be? Tats is pretending everything makes perfect sense, as if gender zombies are some sort of universally recognized concept instead of something he pulled straight out of his lazy ass to avoid having to put actual thought in his writing.

His entire capability to argue a point is nothing more than "look at them being stinky, dirty and mean!". Drawing everything he doesn't agree with as zombies moaning about some oddly specific subjects saves the step of having to draw some disagreeable behaviour or coming up with reasons for why his own cause is the good one. The radical feminists are fighting disgusting zombies, they must be the good guys!

The fact he fails to make his own cause the least bit sympathetic even when the alternative is agreeing with the living dead and Satan only further illustrates how bad of a tactic this style of writing really is.

I guess it's supposed to be a "parody" (used lightly in this context) of the Dr. Seuss book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Fish,_Two_Fish,_Red_Fish,_Blue_Fish

It's funny how often I just totally forget to check on Sinfest for several days at a time. I used to check it every day without fail when it was a good comic, but now apparently it's been almost a week and I totally didn't notice.

In any case, I feel it would have been much better for dramatic purposes if Theo passed the gender check, but his new friend failed it and got taken away, so that when Miko breaks in Theo would be like "we can't leave now, we need to save my new friend" or something and they'd have to somehow sneak all the way into girl camp. Maybe Miko would be forced to pose as a boy for a while or something.

Of course, there is no actual drama here because this is all apparently just a game or something and thus there are no actual consequences to anything that happens?

Again, Theo, you have two jobs here. One, take the name and description of every adult here to heart, escape, then sue the shit out of a ton of people and be set for life. And two, introduce your new friend to vainglorious somehow so they can stare off into space together.

Looks like since Mini Monique sees them as zombies, are we finally going to watch a decapitation for real?

Did you miss the "click" next to Miko's head in the second panel, and her hand obviously touching her googles in the same? At least here, it's not "when Miko is present", it's "when we see through Miko's Anti-Patrix Goggles".

I actually didn't mind this that much. Having her rescue them without just icing the faculty was actually pleasantly surprising. I mean, we can look at it as "he can't have them actually kill people on screen, because that'd make them look bad," but I was starting to get concerned.

He wants so badly to draw a "Fuck Transgender People" strip, but he's just too scared of the fallout. I wonder how long he'll be able to resist. More then likely he'll just keep hinting, and hinting, until all the hints pile up and have the same cumulative effect as if he'd said it outright to begin with.

Since we know he monitors this forum (It's the ONLY place on the web still talking about Sinfest- I've looked. That makes it easy to find too.) How far ahead do you think he is? Do you think he keeps aborting because we keep calling his plots early? We all know how he loves to think he's unpredictable, dropping truth bombs to blow the minds of the masses. Can't use the plot he initially came up with once it's been figured out.
