[up] .. which happens to be Satan's objective, I think.

Oh, and I think the reporter is modeled after Geraldo Rivera, whom I have long suspected is a minion of Satan.

[up][up] From three days ago I think. I've never seen him before that.

I wonder what Satan's plan with the new channel is. Letting your enemy get the message out to the public is a big thing to give away.

I can't imagine that running some ads is the only thing he's standing to gain from it.

I know, what I meant was where Tats got that idea from in the first place. It kinda comes out of nowhere.

Got to admit this is a far higher grade of dross than Tat's usual stuff. Maybe's he escaped from the basement and is trying to shake off the brainwashing?

It's still just regurgitating stuff he's hammered on about many, many times before though. Kudos for being 0.000001% less anvilicious than usual though

Yeah, this is really subtle for the modern version.

Many of the characters are repeats of attendees at the masque ball. I particularly like the flamboyantly rich guy with the cigar and string tie, straight out of America's Gilded Age ... the Sinfest universe's version of Diamond Jim Brady, perhaps?

But the two women in the crowd of bidders don't have horns. I guess in WokeSinfet women can't devolve into demons any more.

Given Tats' politics, this is about the least anvilicious comic we could have expected, and it contains a large element of truth. But it would be interesting to see whether Tats would ever criticize what seems to be his own political philosophy.

There's an old adage: Under Capitalism, the rich become powerful; under Socialism, the powerful become rich.

I'm not really in love with the whole "politicians are for sale so let's make it literal" thing, but that could be just me.

I think it's just the subject matter. It's not original or particularly insightful. It's a pretty safe subject to draw things about.

It's not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

This is actually pretty good satire, yeah. And politicians ARE for sale, through lobbying groups and donations from the super wealthy, so making it literal IS good satire.

Although @hayate666 has a very good point: this comic is hardly an original observation. After all, satirists have been saying things line this for the past ... oh, three thousand years or so. (Often pseudonymously, because attaching the author's name to the satire usually was a good way to cause the author to join the Choir Invisible.)

I've never seen them satirized like this, though. Can you give an example where politicians were satirized in this exact way?

Can't be bothered to find a satire example - it already seems to happen enough in the uk at least

In the uk ex-ministers, ex-military and high ranking ex-civil servants do tend to end up working for the companies of whom they were in charge of making the rules for when they were in office

Think the phrase is gamekeeper turned poacher

There's even a government committee, Acoba, whose sole job is to whitewash, wave through and put a figleaf of respectability on the whole sordid issue.

And no, I'm not making this up: -

How about the phrase "the oldest profession" being applied to both politicians and prostitutes? It's a cliché.

Hexapodia Since: Jun, 2016
#29293: Oct 21st 2018 at 4:29:40 PM

[up][up] And in the United States the trope is a "revolving door" between Congress and K Street (the location in Washington, D.C. of many, many lobbying organizations).

Also, "pay for play" ... with a "politicians for sale" example from just yesterday.

A related trope: "The foxes guarding the henhouse."

A bit of an analysis of Sinfest and how it constantly undermines its own premise that I thought was interesting to share.

Part 1:

The Webcomic's Review posted:

image

Sinfest is making fun of the uselessness of cartoons that push a social justice agenda when it is itself a cartoon that pushes a social justice agenda and I honestly don't know if this is supposed to be self-depreciating or if Ishida just didn't think about what he's creating at any point while creating it

Part 2:

Anonymous asked:

I think you need to take Sinfest as if the author is 100% serious all the time, even when he seems to undermine his own points while making them. Ishidia seems to be of the conviction that he's the only man able to be a true radical feminist and you know how good those people are with irony.

The Webcomic's Review posted:

What drives me nuts is that he bases his whole life on spreading this message and puts no thought into it at all. Like, even today's strip

image

Where a bunch of politicians pose seductively for devils trying to literally buy them. I doubt Tats put much more thought into this then "It'd be funny", but

1. "Men acting effeminately = comedy" is a weird well for a feminist comic to go down and Tats goes down there a lot

2. He's comparing these men to prostitutes for comedy, but most of the story is how prostitutes are oppressed and forced into it. So either he's undercutting the primary theme of his comic - the one he shut down his own forums over - for a cheap joke, or he's saying that the American ruling class is oppressed in a way comparable to women forced into the sex trade.

3. Okay.

image

image

So the devil people are a racial minority that was oppressed at some point in the past but is now secretly ruling America by buying and selling politicians with their illicit porn money, which corrupts American men into mindless consumer zombies.

image

Oh, and they control the media, especially the SJW media. Just a racial minority that secretly controls the media to spread degeneracy to corrupt our American men and secretly control society. A wacky fictional idea with no real-world analogue at all.

Look, if Tats isn't doing this on purpose, it's grossly irresponsible. If he is doing this on purpose, it's morally abhorrent.

image

And I think you're right, anon. I think Tatsuya Ishida really does believe in this kind of thing, and that, not "anti-pornography", is the real theme he's trying to push

no I'm pretty sure there's a real-world analogue to that. Just one Tats probably isn't thinking of. Probably.

Go to Chicago, Kid, you'll get a local council member and it'll evolve into a senator like a pokemon. A pokemon of corruption.
