Yeah, I saw that today. I thought it was just to swap troops between retinues

Yesterday was the day that I'd first seen a meme about that, but last night when I played 3K for a bit, I had that happen XD

Is there a historical basis for why he asks that?

I believe it has to do with when he got the Imperial Seal from Sun Ce in exchange for the lands of Wu. Yuan Shu would spend the rest of his life proclaiming himself Emperor to everyone.

The 3K parody video we all were waiting for.

So yeah, Zhang Fei has an animation where he fucking punches someone? Neat.

Ah shit, Lu Bu took over the Dong faction in my game. SAVE ME GUAN YU

Yeah, Lu Bu does that, I think, when he betrays Dong Zhuo.

[up] I watched one let's play series where the player just flat out refused Diaochan and made Lü Bu his heir.

Dong Zhuo died peacefully after achieving Duke rank and Lü Bu is now emperor. [lol]

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.

Weird, Dong Min replaced him first in my campaign. Lu Bu only came to power around 208 or so, and Ma Chao ended up in his own faction somehow.

I didn't think that I'd say this for any game, but man does this game need a cosmetic DLC. A lot of important characters are still stuck with generic models, and those get old pretty fast. I'd really like them to record more voice lines as well.

Yeah, I've noticed multiple characters who have the same clothing models but different faces.

A modder looked at Rome: Total War, thought "WHAT IF IT WAS IN WORLD WAR II!", and fucking did it.

Another thought "WHAT IF SHOGUN 2 WAS LOTR!"

[up][up][up][up]Nah, I'm 80 turns in, so it happened in a much less expected manner.

[up][up]Yeah, I don't speak Mandarin, but it definitely sounds to me like there's a lot less lines for movement than "WE ARE RELENTLESS!", "RANGE FAR, RANGE FAST!", "BEARDS IN BELTS!", "KHAZUKAN KAZAKIT-KI, HA!", "PLOW THROUGH!", "GO!", "MOVE, NOW!", "NOTHING CAN STOP US!". "OFF WE GO!", "STRIKE OUT!", "MOVE!", "COME ON!", "THEY HAVE WRONGED US!" (Ok that last one's not a Dorf movement line, but a Dorf selection line, I just love Dorf lines).

"Total War is a matter not so much of arms as of L-O-D-S OF E-M-O-N-E." -Creative Assembly after they realized they sold a million copies of 3K in a week, probably (and as they say, Yellow Turbans will no longer come free with the game soon).

Those madlads. I'm still waiting for the Rise of Mordor mod for Attila, but it's nice to hear that there's an alternative for a much better-optimised game.

I mostly want more combat banter that reflect the characters' relationship with each other - if they're, say, fighting alongside their spouse, or duelling a family member who went rogue, I want them to say something about that. It's particularly important in the late game where many of your starting heroes have been replaced by generic characters that you don't have as much emotional rapport with.

[up]I haven't even played Romance (or did I accidentally turn the General smack-talk off? I'm not sure), but from what I could see from footage...yeah, dialogue's a bit limited in there too.

Sounds to me like they spent too much on the trash talk, so they had less money for the other lines.

There are some relationship-based lines for the legendary characters, like Sun Ce/Zhou Yu, but I think that having those for "generic" characters would go a long way towards giving them a real sense of personality.

My Liu Bei game is now a Two Kingdoms game.

...Abdicating causes the entire kingdom to merge with yours, which immediately put me at -16K income.

Yup. I wonder if their leader told em' the same thing like a company merger "Everyone's still gonna have a job, we're just under new management now" before I sacked most of them.

It's like how when you play Bretonnia you have to neuter most of the armies of their peasant populations because otherwise you go way over your foot-unit limit.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure those peasants would be happy to return to work on their fields.

True. It's safer than the possibility of being killed by Beastmen, Orcs, Wood Elves, or your own, uncaring nobles riding you down as they try to charge.

What's better:

1. Dying horribly to unholy abominations that exist only to plague the world

2. Living as a peasant
