  • Name: "Paul Drifter" / Bruce Wayne / Batman
  • Age: 30
  • Sex/Gender: Male
  • Personality: Bruce Wayne is defined by the very tragedy that occurred all those years ago. When his parents died, he was forever changed and determined to rid Gotham City of its crime and corruption. However, he grew to be a vengeful, socially inept young man, a lone wolf unable to let go of his parents' deaths, and would become a reclusive scion of Gotham’'s richest family while questioning his family’s legacy. He would lash out in his anger and frustration at Gotham's criminals with his brutal and terrifying demeanor. As a result of this, his reputation as the Batman had been unfavorable in the eyes of both the GCPD and Gotham's residents who viewed him as a dangerous loose cannon. The city's criminal underworld was largely terrified of him, believing him to be either a psychotic maniac, a paranormal or supernatural threat, or both.

Bruce is unbothered by how all this affects him given his rugged, gaunt appearance and the many scars he's accumulated, suggesting that he's completely willing to face imprisonment or even die for his crusade. He also possesses an apparent fearlessness, which could be interpreted by some as suicidal insanity — much to the dismay of his butler and former legal guardian, Alfred Pennyworth, who fears that one day Bruce's luck will finally run out. Despite this, he is still able to feel afraid, especially when he feels someone he cares about can get hurt or worse, confessing to Alfred that he feared he could've lost him.

Bruce seems to suffer from severe depression, anxiety, and potentially some kind of social disorder, given his family's history with mental disorders, and his obsession over the tragedy in his life, general social isolation, quiet behavior, and occasional violent outbursts of rage. He begins to heal after learning the truth about his parents, bonding with Selina Kyle, and learning the Riddler was inspired by his crusade of vengeance, but he is still clearly suffering to a visible extent, as he still maintains a rather closed-off nature and continues his obsessive crusade as the Batman.

In spite of his dark frame of mind, he is still a good and heroic man as his efforts are for making his city a better place. He will do everything he possibly can to save the innocent and won't actually kill any of his enemies believing that to do so would only serve to lower him down to their level. All of this he says is his way upholding his family's legacy. And even though he would prefer to work alone, he's willing to accept help from others like Alfred, Jim Gordon, and Selina Kyle when he knows he needs it. Bruce also begins to question his purpose as Batman during the aftermath of the events of The Batman (2022), seeking to become a more hopeful leader and symbol for the people of Gotham. Bruce also strongly believes in the possibility of redemption and second chances likely as a result of his own perceived feelings of failure to act when his parents needed saving.
  • Equipment:
    • Batsuit:
      • Ballistic Protection: The suit is capable of protecting the wearer from gunfire. It has proven effective against rounds from handguns, as well as rounds from automatic assault rifles, however it was weak to rounds from a sniper rifle, which penetrated the armor and seriously injured Batman. It is made of a flexible, yet extremely durable experimental metal alloy. Based on its ballistic performance, the metal plating appears to be a specially engineered ballistic variant of NiTi, or Nitinol, a shape memory material that has a superior strength/density ratio to titanium, and at a lower price. If deformed, this material can return to its original shape after being heated, a property that makes it extremely promising for ballistics, as it can repair itself from non-penetrative damage. A 1mm thick sheet of Nitinol can stop a 7.62 NATO round from a distance of 10 meters with only 4mm of plastic deformation and no penetration.
      • Grapple Gun: As Batman, Bruce uses a pneumatic grapple gun affixed to a sleeve mounted quick-draw mechanism on the underside of each gauntlet, that deploys the gun into his hand from his forearm. after deployment, the end of a grappling hook projectile with 3 spring assisted claws and a sharpened harpoon-like tip extends from the muzzle of the gun. This grappling hook is affixed to the end of a thin, high tensile dynamic cable, that can be retracted by a motorized spool and ascension winch. The winching system is equipped with a set of brakes, which automatically decelerate a falling body at a rate inversely proportional to its mass, in order to safely recover from a fall. these brakes can also be controlled directly, allowing the user to rappel down the face of a vertical surface. This can be used to make a quick ascent to a rooftop, to make a safe descent from a rooftop, to safely recover from a fall before hitting the ground, or offensively to pull people or objects.
      • Tactical Knife: Batman's chest plate holsters a large, magnetized, bat-shaped knife, a prototypical Batarang.
      • Taser: Bruce uses a taser which is located in the index fingertip of each of his gloves.
      • Utility Belt: As Batman, Bruce carries with him a utility belt consisting of a strap and buckle that houses many pouches and cylindrical cartridges attached to its outside each containing one of his various gadgets.
      • Wingsuit: Batman can activate an experimental wingsuit housed in his cape by tugging on a ripcord located on his left and right arms. Bruce uses the wingsuit to glide across Gotham City, usually to his detriment. Landing involves deploying a parachute to slow the wearers descent velocity, and after landing, the cape detaches from the suit and needs to be re-installed.
    • Binoculars: Just what it sounds like. Digital, with considerable zoom functionality.
    • Drifter Motorcycle: Wayne's main mode of transportation, a modified Café racer for made for optimum speed with minimal flare. Based on a Honda cb 750 DOCH.
    • Drifter Outfit: When not in his Batsuit, Wayne disguises himself as a drifter to prevent anyone from recognizing him while in public (not that they would in this universe anyway). This outfit consists of a black jacket, red baseball cap, scarf, beige cargo pants, black combat boots, white hand wraps, and a backpack to carry the Batsuit in. This is also the only set of clothes he owns aside from the Batsuit, having been displaced from his own universe.
    • Gadgets (and other contents of Utility Belt):
      • Adrenaline Shot: An injection device that doses the user with a shot of Adrenaline, also called Epinephrine, in order to quickly get Batman back into the fight if he has been incapacitated by an injury such as a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, it has the unintended side effect of boosting the user's aggression.
      • Compact Nunchaku: Bruce keeps a small baton which can be extended into nunchaku at the back of his belt.
      • Flares: Used to illuminate the dark.
      • Handcuffs: Typical cuffs, as well as zip-ties.
      • Sticky Bombs: An adhesive electronic explosive device that can be affixed to a surface before a timed detonation.
      • Tracking Devices: Jury-rigged to work with his cellphone.
      • Ultraviolet Flashlight: Used to reveal messages written in fluorescent invisible ink, and to provides a forensic light source while investigating crime scenes.
  • Assets: Virtually nothing currently, as he has been displaced from his universe and has been unable to find work in the meantime due to lack of papers. He is currently staying at one of Martin Li's F.E.A.S.T. shelters.
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Expert Driver: Bruce is a very capable evasive driver in multiple vehicles, such as cars and motorcycles. As a teenager, he briefly took up illegal street racing. During the few races he took part in, he left another driver in the dust and nearly won his first race. He was able to chase down Penguin while driving at a very high rate of speed on a crowded highway, while avoiding multiple vehicles and driving off a ramp through a tanker explosion.
    • Expert Marksman: Bruce is capable of firing his grappling hook with pinpoint accuracy to repel himself to safety.
    • Expert Musician: Bruce is a fan of Nirvana and previously owned an electric guitar, which he has, naturally, mastered the use of.
    • Genius-Level Intellect (Master Detective/Engineer/Scientist): Bruce is a highly intelligent and polymathic genius, with extensive knowledge in chemistry, biology, physics, and applied science. In addition to being well versed in investigative techniques and forensic science. Bruce is an obsessive tinkerer with an extraordinarily inventive mind, with great knowledge in mechanical and electrical engineering. This extensive knowledge in engineering would go onto help him build the Batmobile, in addition to the Batsuit and various gadgets. All of his tools and gear are meticulously crafted with his own two hands. In high school, he consistently made the Dean's list and got straight A's due to the sense of pleasure he would get from spending long hours just studying. He enjoyed studying and learning, it allowed him to bury himself in books to avoid socializing with other classmates. He not only graduated from high school at the top of his class, but also attended multiple different colleges where he studied various subjects, including biology, physics, and chemistry. According to the Joker, Bruce is normally ahead of the curve.
    • Master Martial Artist: Bruce is a "truly dangerous" fighter, having been trained by Alfred in Karate, Judo and Taekwondo, and he has studied martial arts with masters in different countries, borrowing moves and tactics from each discipline, including Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Pencak Silat, Eskrima, Boxing, Muay Thai and Kickboxing, among others.
    • Peak Human Condition/Strength/Durability/Speed/Agility/Stamina/Reflexes: c.f. other Batmen. Bruce Wayne spent years training in intense weightlifting techniques and martial arts, as well maintaining a strict diet, and as a result is in peak physical condition. As a teenager, he would regularly engage in hour long workouts involving weightlifting in the gym and sparring sessions with Alfred. During his years of training abroad, he would constantly augment his workout routine, ranging from working out in the finest gyms at one time and lifting milk jugs filled with sand as kettlebells the next time. Bruce regularly engages in intense physical exercise to keep his body in the best shape possible, to the point that he has developed a muscular physique.
    • Stealth Mastery: Bruce is a master of stealth and can easily blend into the shadows, to the point where criminals believe he’s lurking around every corner and every shadow.
  • Appearance: As Bruce, or "Paul" (although not in these particular clothes); As Batman. When not in his Batsuit, Wayne disguises himself as "Paul Drifter" to prevent anyone from recognizing him while in public (not that they would in this universe anyway). This outfit consists of a black jacket, red baseball cap, scarf, beige cargo pants, black combat boots, white hand wraps, and a backpack to carry the Batsuit in.
  • Backstory: Bruce Wayne was born in 1991 in Gotham City, New York to wealthy socialites Martha Arkham and Thomas Wayne, heads of Wayne Enterprises. At ten years old, his parents were shot and killed by a mugger in front of him, leaving him traumatized for life and in the care of the family butler, the protective and wry Alfred Pennyworth. Alfred taught Bruce to use his built-up trauma and rage to fight, hoping to help him heal, but instead driving the boy to become angry and closed off as a teenager. At seventeen, Bruce began honing his skills as a scientist, practicing forensics work and renovating a muscle car into a powerful machine, making himself a genius as well as an advanced fighter.

As an adult in 2019, seeing all the crime and injustice in Gotham City drove him to use his skills as a vigilante, donning a bat-like armored suit and taking on the name "The Batman" to strike fear into criminals and rid Gotham of crime and corruption, all while Alfred acted as his tech and tactical support. In his civilian identity, he took over Wayne Enterprises, and became a quiet recluse who rarely appeared in public, hyper-focused on pursuing his war on crime.

One of the Batman's early missions saw him take down an arms export into Gotham directed by ruthless crime lord Carmine Falcone's top lieutenant, the Penguin. They would become two of his most bitter enemies over his first two years of crimefighting. He eventually formed a working relationship with the Gotham City Police Department, even forming a friendship with steely and determined lieutenant Jim Gordon, and was able to be summoned by the police using the Bat-Signal. He and Gordon investigated several crimes in Gotham, and brought to justice criminals like the Joker.

In 2021, two years after starting crimefighting, the Batman realized he wasn't making the impact he wanted, and that crime was on the rise despite knowing he'd made criminals deathly afraid of him, all in the name of vengeance. His relationship with Alfred was also straining, with Alfred becoming more anxious and concerned for him while he became more abrasive, and Wayne Enterprises was beginning to financially collapse thanks to his neglect of the company.

On Halloween, the Batman and Gordon investigated the murder of Mayor Mitchell, whose corpse had been left with a riddle and cipher addressed to the Batman. Batman and Alfred solved the cipher, locating a thumb drive with evidence of the mayor's extramarital affairs with a woman named Annika Kosolov at the Iceberg Lounge, which the killer, calling himself the Riddler, then sent out to the press, before murdering the police commissioner and announcing to social media that he was exposing Gotham's lies and corruption.

The rest of the events of The Batman (2022) then played out (which I will not spoil as I am trying to persuade Liz to watch it first :P). In the aftermath of the film, Bruce was on patrol incognito one day when he accidentally drove his motorcycle through a dimensional rift, which immediately closed, stranding him in the Universe of Justice Avengers: Noir. He has since taken up residence in one of Gotham's F.E.A.S.T. homeless shelters, and has been gradually gathering intel on the local superheroes and criminal elements in preparation to re-debut as Batman, though a different Batman than the one who has gone missing from the local universe.
  • Universe: Universe of The Batman (2022) (suggested to be the starting point of a rebooted DC Extended Film Universe)
